Wow , I mean , thats a 7 seconds cut.In two weeks.Impressive.Recently (friday) I decided to get 54 CI A (with PAL).That , I thought , was a good test.Finally , I played it during three days for a total of 15 hours.5503 is my best time ever.I just suck.It has become obvious that Ive reached my limits.Actually I lost my skills a year ago , when I decided to stop whoarding and reveal my crazy achievements that I did in a month.There were some good times , like 40 Defection A , 43 g5 A , 3:37 Attack Ship PA , and a lot more.That definitly was my best moment of the game.I should have kept Pring , because now I cant anymore.What I can do is only some lonely exploits , a second cut here and here , thanks to luck and stuff.But he fact is that Im not very lucky anymore.I dont know , have you ever met on CI A three guards next to the ship with the bomb at the end of the level ? Three gay Blondes that just decide to put themselves on the ramp so that you cant reach the end of the level.I met them.I suppose these things happen.Yeah indeed they happen.It happened to me , on my only run where I was able to start downloading on the 38th second (meaning that was 54).They blocked me , I screwed up the end , and I finished with a booyarific 56.I love that game.
I dont blame the game though.The problem also comes from me.If I was skilled , I would reach that goddam ship before 39 in like almost every run , and get 54 in no time (come on , its not that hard , ppl have done 53 on NTSC).But I suck.This is so obvious.On like 8/10 runs the door that you are supposed to open through the wall was closed.This is not a matter of luck.I cant even find a good spot to open it.
I thought that I could break 1h45.I broke 1h46 a year ago.A year to improve my Overall by 50 secs.I cant imagine how much time it would take me to get from 1h45 to 1h44.30 years is a good approximation.
I cant bother anymore to hunt seconds at Perfect Dark.It has become too hard for me.Normal ppl can get a PR by playing the level 30 mins.I would do the same PR , but in 3 hours.Im definitly not good enough to get a better rank that the one Ive reached.10th is not that bad you think.10th is gay.Ive played that game more than every single chump in here.My game timer iswait I just check.Its 38 days , 21 hours , 30 mins and 56 secs.With such a game timer , Karl would have 1h35 of Overall , so would have Shade or Bryan or Grek K or whoever.Its time to quit.The last 10 days of playing was a waste of time , I should have realised that way long before today.
You probably think that Im writing that bacause Im just angry because I cant get 54 CI A.Yeah indeed Im angry.Now when Im playing PD , I can feel nothing but frustration , anger , disappointment and stuff.Where is the fun ? I lost it somewhere on my race to better times.I was having fun , a long time ago.With Wabs and me fighting for the Best French Player title.With Jugador and SZ when we were competiting for the 3rd rank on PAL rankings.I was having fun by talking to KP during a whole evening of Perfect Dark and stuff.That definitly was my best time of player , and it was a while ago.Now its just over.Why did I kept playing ? Because I had nothing else to do.Its still true today , a bit less though.Im 19 , a job , a girlfriend and a life to live.I need to get my driving license and find a flat to live in.
Im not saying that I wont play vido games anymore.Actually I couldnt.But I just want to find video games that entertain me.PD isnt fun anymore , GE isnt fun anymore , this elite isnt fun anymore , just because I have now reached a level of playing where you just cant find any happiness in.Depending of the player it may come at a different moment of your career.
Somewhere Im quite sad because some of my times still could be improved.Most of them.But hat would be too much pain for me.Now I just wanna be happy when I plug in my N64 or stuff.I wanna jump like I was jumping when I found a piece of heart without any help on Majora/Ocarina of Time.I wanna play FF7 all night long just to get a goddam Gold Chocobo by feeding those chumpy Black and Blue and Green Chocobos and by making them love.I wanna laugh to hell when a @#%$ friend just kicks my ass with a @#%$ Star just before the end of the 3rd lap at Mario Kart 64.I wanna knock out Mike Tyson at Punch Out (just a dream man , hes just way too strong , that fight IS unfair).I wanna sweat to get the 201 bananas at DK64 , as long as the fun is here.I wanna kill those bastards zombies in The House of the Dead III until my hand screams stop!.
That IS video games.
Im free to fell that again mates.Im enlighted.@#%$ Perfect Dark.
Ill stay on the boards though , Ill keep coming here to see how it goes and stuff , but probably will never do any new PR.Your guys are cool and really interesting , thats why I ask you not to hesitate when you have a problem at the game , or if you feel lonely and need someone to talk , whatever is the subject.Im here for that now , my aim is still the same , Vizavinze.

Lets see, you played really good in your time at the elite, and that should remain in your past, just as I realised. Since Perfect Dark there has been many great games that beg for your attention. Why go back and play an aged game in the form of Perfect Dark? You shouldn't.
Its also good to hear that things are working out for you with the girlfriend and flat situation. Things should be pretty cool

This is EXACTLY, almost word for word, the way I felt about Perfect Dark the day I quit, and to this day. I just hit my limits and the only way to pass them was by increasingly long chances. The game stinks when you get to that stage. (The only difference is, Vinze is about ten times as good as me, and his limits correspondingly better. Also he played about twice as long as I did.)
I'll confess that just recently I picked up a pad again and started playing, just for fun, like. I quickly realised how soul-destroying it can be to play these levels OVER and OVER and OVER again until you get the right pillar combination or the right guards or you don't get shot while running through fifteen CMP-150-armed guards on Perfect Agent.
If you really want to get something out of the game, you need to forget the one-in-a-million speed strategies that depend on all luck, on elevators and NPCs and impossible shots. Go back to PA, play it through the slow but steady way. Spend a good five minutes cleaning the dataDyne lobby of guards before you run for the elevator. Do the upstairs bit of Villa before triggering the hackers. Take your time, do all the objectives, and have a fun game for the first time in months.
Then take your cartridge twenty miles from your house and burn it at midnight.
Congratulations, Vinze. You had an awesome run. 10th place is many times better than I could hope to achieve and I respect you for that and for your persistence. On to other, greater things. PD was just the starting point. There's a whole world of games out there waiting for your l33tness.

I said to myself, after getting 1:58 on SOS SA, that that was the last time I played a level like crazy just to get the time I wanted.
But the fact is that when you know you can get it, and you just do stupid mistakes on every run that scraps it, you're unwillingly pushed to start over again, just because you know you can get it.
So that's why I played CI SA and got 1:30, which took me a lot more time than it would have to anybody else, just because of stupid errors. You can't just quit after like 1 or 2 hours spent for nothing, w/o having the PR, knowing you should have. So you continue to play 3-4 more hours to finally get a stupid new time.

I've had the same thing happen to me once or twice, although not with GE or PD. I used to play an online game called Graal for years and years. It started out fun, but after awhile it got way too technical. I started competing with the best players around, flipping out everytime I was beaten. I had a reputation to keep there, and if I messed up, everyone knew it. Anyway, I'm just saying that I can relate. So go have some fun with other games, pwn them, and do the same for even more games. It's the cycle of. . . video gaming.
By the way, I thought it was funny what you said about the Golden Chocobo on FF7. . . haha! So so annoying, but yet I've done it I don't know how many times and enjoyed every second of it. As for my top 3 games. . .
1. Final Fantasy 10
2. Dynasty Warriors Series (4th installment, if I had to choose)
3. GTA 3:Vice City
Other games worth an honorable mention are Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy series, and the .hack series.

It's good to read Shade and Bryan posting that they can feel the same way , I thought they were becoming machines , it looks so easy with'em ! I mean they can get a Wr a day , pretty impressive.I was far about thinking that you felt the same.
I may go to twingalaxies and look for some good comeptitions...W/o forgetting fun of course.They may have records for Zelda 3 on SNES or things like that...could be fun to see...I also may try a long planning" challenge , like (yeah that could be good) the 6h30 thing on Ocarina of Time.6h30 looks like "omfg impossible" , but I like that
also the 1h30 Mario 64.Big things you know.Maybe they have the same for FF7-8-9-etc... 
And yeah a Gold Chocobo is good.Man I love that silly music when you win a race and have to wait like 5 mins for others to finish the track as they're only on the middle of it when you reach the finish line...
And I @#%$ want to kill Omega Weapon w/o any help of the cards on FF8...That is a nice challenge , almost as insane as goingfor the Desert Weapon on FF7 w/o mythril

Vinze , je comprends tout fait ce que tu ressens . C'est ce qui m'est arriv y'a plus d'un an quand j'ai stopp Perfect Dark . J'avais l'impression d'avoir compltement atteint mes limites , non pas forcment pour mes PRs eux-mmes mais en terme de temps et d'efforts consacrs au total Perfect Dark . Trop de temps pass sur ce jeu ... C'est toujours un choix difficile faire : dcider de raccrocher dfinitivement le pad . La frustration est immense au dbut parce qu'on sait qu'on aurait pu malgr tout encore amliorer certains temps et SURTOUT on voit les autres continuer chopper des PRs ( pour moi ce fut particulirement difficile car je vous laissais le champ libre , toi et ds4
) et on a l'impression qu'ils sont plus forts que nous , au sens qu'ils ont plus de volont . Mais finalement , plus le temps passera , plus tu verras quel point c'est une sage dcision . Pdark l'poque o on y jouait le plus , je pense qu'on s'est tous vraiment clat sur ce jeu mais c'tait aussi comme une drogue , un rel poids : on ne faisait que a et pensait qu' a toute la journe ( je sais plus ou j'avais lu un gars d'ici qu'avait rv qu'il choppait un WR PDark ) . Bref , je suis content pour toi , sincrement la "compet" est un truc formidable qui procure de relles joies mais passer d'un jeu l'autre , ne pas trop s'y attacher , ne pas se limiter un seul jeu pendant un an , c'est encore mieux . C'est un cap passer mais j'te souhaite en tout cas un max de russite dans ta vie future et une chose est sure , j'espre qu'on se perdra pas de vue , au moins par le net .Pour rpondre ta question , ben on en avait dj souvent parl et je suis vraiment incapable de choisir 3 jeux prfrs parmi tous ceux auxquels j'ai jou , enfin n'importe quel jeu snes/megadrive , c'est toujours marrant jouer ou rejouer

well, if u wasnt having fun playing PD, dont think that u should've had stopped before.. i did that same mistake a couple of times.. like "what a waste of time". but it's not.. i mean, if u had better things to do (like job, gf, etc), and didnt do them cuz of PD, that would be sad.. but i dont think that's ur case. u played PD cuz u had nothing better to do.. just as i do, and so does shade, etc.
anyway, forget all this bullshit and keep playing whatever u fell like to.. and remember that we dont have limits, neither do the games.

When I was playing in the elite (in other words, when I sucked horrible ass) my 1:32 took under 20 minutes to get, of course with about 30 minutes of practice the day before.
I can easily get 1:30, and 1:29 probably wouldn't be too hard...just wait...haha.

You knew how to express your feelings very well, and it seemed that I, and many more, have felt the same. I always took a break whenever I got bored, or got sick of gaming. Perhaps a long break will do you fine, so can you start as like you have never played PD before. That's quite refreshning, but when you have reached your top level (as you stated) it's another story. Don't play while you detest it, that way you will only get more frustrated, and more angry.
It was awesome to have you around here (you were a fine RARE rankings competitor). Good luck with all the future brings on your French path of life!
