I thought this topic could be useful for any new strat or strat improvements.  It probably won't get used a lot, but who knows.  Also, this could be a good topic for strat suggestions to try out for tas players and such.

I think on Depot SA/00A we should not use right strafe all the way up the stairs and take the turn much less wide if we use left strafe here.

I think I saw this in Henriks TAS vids but I'm not sure :)

I just realized that I was taking the turn too late.  Actually if you time the turn right, you should hug close to the rail the whole time. :)

On Train 00A, most players in the first room use the laser to cut through the first box for a boost, then weave around the others.
Alex and myself cut through the box right infront of it. We're not sure which way is faster, but someone should test both ways out in a TAS.

Also, I've noticed that using this method, you have
a much better shot at taking less damage in the first room, which helps on 00A.

Henrik uses the first method and probably the more common one.
This could perhaps shave off even more time on the Train records.

Slap first guard on Jungle, most usefull for SA/00A since you'd need a few shots for him otherwise.

used in my 58 00A which I just uploaded

Works almost every time.

The only reason i used that strat on Depot is becouse back then i used mouse to control aim and therefor couldn't turn sharp enough for depot so i was forced to use that method.

Um to the guy talking about people not playing, if you think that way why are you even on this forum at all? Maybe people actually enjoy improving their times and stuff? I mean hey, if nothing else at least speed running GE keeps us remembering the classic, good games and not playing lame games like Halo or something.

Someone tell me a strat to get streets 1:55.  I've tried a lot and nothing seems like it's gonna help much more than the current strat in terms of boosts/luck needed.

I really dont know. Honestly Streets is the gayest level ever. You can be the most skilled person ever, and things never go your way. Not for me anyway. Every time i have a good run, i get 2 back boosts from a KF7 guy or i get blown up and killed by a rocket guy.

When approaching the first barricade, look up and shoot toward the three guards. Back when I was going for 1:57's, I did this and frequently got boosted 2-3 times after passing the barricade, as seen in my 1:57 00 vid which Wouter probably has. This "strat" is by no means perfect, it may very well just be a placebo, however it seemed to be better than not doing it for me, and you seem pretty desperate so I thought I'd throw it out there.:p

On facility SA and 00a, a bad trev should only cost you the time it takes for him to see you:

Place one mine to the right of all tanks, such that it blows up only the 2 on the RHS (leaving trev unscathed). Place the other 2 at the centers of the remaining squares of 4.

Should give trev ample space, yeah?

I dunno if it would save time, because ace's vid didn't look like he lost anything (mind you, i know nothing about that section), but this should help with consitency, as long as planting them in this way isn't too difficult.

How to get Bunker 2 A :25 almost everytime (Not applicable to obtaining 24 in anyway, so this information is useless unless u cant get 25)

Start off normal etc, start shooting half way between the outdent on the wall and the stairs(keep shooting till ur cliff empties), let the guards open the double doors for you (which takes like .3-5) then by letting them do this, u get a keycard guard thats classifiable as insane most runs, but since u have that big stuck up, u have no shot at 24, but u gain time compared to a bad keycard guard. finish as normal. kf7 back to 2x klobb for glass door warp, and end warp

I could be wrong, but I think most of the time Trev dies due to the explosions caused by the tanks blowing up, not the mine explosions (assuming you mine the back row tanks). And I think the more quickly you mine the tanks and get out of them, the better chance of Trev surviving.

Depot sa/oo agent: I have noticed going inbetween the two consoles as opposed to around them saves time. Once i had them both complete when i went inbetween them.  I think :49 is possible on 00 agent if you can get a DK5 and go inbetween the mainframes and have them both complete on a good run. Also, grabbing the key without getting blown behind the table helps, and some random boost. I used to not think so, but i definitely think :49 is possible on depot 00 agent now.

Why go to the mainframes at all, just run same path as you entered. That would save more even though the chances of completion would be near 0%.

Unless you pwn around a bit with the Dk5 of course.

:49 was already possible, and yes, Wouter has failed a few. And Henrik is right about the fastest way...and I actually had obj complete doing this ONE time on SA :lol  I wasn't trying for it but when I went to make the left turn behind the MF I got boosted and ended up going to the right of the big metal thing and they both somehow blew up :)

I think the fastest way with possiblity of completion is to go around the table and exit along the other wall opposite you entered. if you could get a DK5 you could pump 2 bullets into each one real fast (would require a guard to get blown up by the screen) then the drone would have a shot at blowing the other two up for you, also guards. Would be a little too hard to do though, also considering the odds of completion are nill.

LOL i guess so...but it doesnt matter i mean, youre still shooting at the mainframes as you leave regardless, so its not like youre saving or losing time by not knowing it. Its just a little strange that level, ive had the mainframes complete as i was like halfway to the other rolling door across the path. Kinda weird how guards would still be shooting after all that time...

Depot is my best level. I just have a good feel for it. The strat makes a lot of sense to me, and i understand how to pull it off. My worst level is probably facility. Ive played facility agent WAY more than depot SA, but my facility agent time sucks...hmm funny. That can be attributed with Alec though. ive had a @#%$ amount of :48 speed runs ruined by that bastard. I swear he runs into the explosions to piss me off, lol. Once, i failed a :50 because some guard through a grenade into a group of scientists and blew them up...failing Obj. D is it? yeah that was ridiculous.

I'm sure I could do well at levels just by copying what I see in vids, not knowing the level very well. And TAS is the best thing that could happen to GE speedrunning in the long run, it doesn't matter if tricks are found by human or by computer, if it exists it's bound to be found sometime and we use computers to save us wasting time on it and it's everyday's business.
