Future of GE Elite
« on: November 14, 2006, 03:15:00 pm »
Hey guys, been quite a long time since I've posted.  Mostly lurked around here and there.  But something has come to my attention and I wanted to get some input on it.

There has been talk about GE and PD going to either Xbox Live or Wii Live.  Microsoft now owns Rare so it could port them to the arcade or isnce they came out for N64 it could go to the Wii.  If it does come out for either of them, what are the plans for GE Elite.

Will people playing on XBL or Wii be alowed into the Elite?  Will there be seperate rankings?  What if they keep a best times scoreboard for each level for everyone playing GE online?

Any tnoughts?

I highly doubt anyone here would speedrun on either of the new systems, controls would be a bitch to master (for me anyway) and no one would really care. It would be separate rankings for anything because surely levels would differ in many ways.

Any system other than the original is an emulation of the game, whether it's Wii, PS3, XBox 360, or a PC.  The ranks will only contain times done on N64, not any of these others.

If demand is high enough, I'm sure someone will create a new set of ranks for the other systems.

I would only consider playing Wii or XBox360 ports of GE/PD if they change aspects of the levels around (as jimbo touched on). I dunno any specifics but I know framerates would be mostly perfect I suppose. Controls would be hard to learn but not impossible to go for speed times.

Mostly though I gotta agree with the notion of a separate rankings, it would be interesting because the best players would be determined by who can master the controls. :)

0% chance of Goldeneye (the original) going to xbox(360). Rare may have created the game but Nintendo published it and Nintendo would not give the game up to the competition.

However, being emulated by the Wii is not totally out of the question. Activision has the rights to Bond so it would take a lot of money to get the game on it.

So to clarify, Nintendo can do whatever they want, which is no GE on Wii i'm betting. :(  But there is always emulation, which  supersedes N64 capabilities anyway.
