Today, April 5th 2006, Jim Barrett is officially retired from GE solo.

This is something completely separate from Bryan, in fact I had no idea he was considering retirement. My decision comes from the fact that I am simply incredibly restricted on time, I don't have the ability to play for hours on end like I did in my glory days. Also, I am simply washed up, I can't do Statue or Streets worth a damn anymore, making my interest level just sink. I'm done, I'm an old goon now, I'm 18 and not as good as I was when I was 15 or 16 surprisingly. It all really started when Dan Cervone just raped the hell out of the rankings, I couldn't defend it, I was done for.

Take note, I will still be around bigtime, taking part in contests and anything elite related. I'll still be a [proof] mod, and a decent guy to talk to on AIM like I've always been.

Hopefully I don't go down as someone who sucks, I held 3rd for a damn long time, set 3 untieds, and would like to be most well known for NEVER EVER using a dot, perhaps the best eliter to do so.

With that, I'm out; but always know I'll still be playing multiplayer. One of these days I'll face Bryan, or Jon, or someone else that matters. I'm not completely done with GE, just solo, take care guys.

MY KUDOS SECTION:

This section is for those who strongly influenced my elite career here. Not necessarily ranked by importance, but the guys who matter are up top.

BRYAN BOSSHARDT: I consider you by best friend here, always there to discuss strats and the only one who would really understand Jimbo talk when it came to GE. Thanks for everything man.

BRANDON SANFORD: The other guy I'd always talk to online, convinced me to get a lot of times I probably right now otherwise wouldn't have. Provides a good laugh, wish the best on you raping the top 10.

WOUTER JANSEN: Vids mean a lot, I wouldn't have my ass load of personal vids if it wasn't for Wouter, or wouldn't have strived to become the proof-savvy guy I am today without him. You still are an ass for raping my bandwidth though...

MATTHIJS TEN HAM / BRYAN YOUSE: I wouldn't even be on the damn rankings if not for these guys, appreciate giving a guy a 2nd chance, and Matthijs especially for encouraging me to go on.

GREG WOLL: For being Woll and providing an incentive to constantly PR, just so I could beat Greg Woll.

JON Bearder: Fellow Wisconsinite, just for a talk. Great guy, always respected you.

TRENT / DAN / COME / OTHER BASTARDS WHO ARE GENERALLY COOL BUT PISS ME OFF AT TIMES: Hats off to making this a worthwhile experience. Trent for being my arch-rival through the times, Dan for finally ending GE's grasp on my life, Come for constantly picking on teh jimbo but never meaning it (don't deny it you ass, you love me).

And that should generally sum it up. Get GE below 1:16:00 now!

Well congrats on a great career. I first saw the elite when you were in 3rd, and that always engraved Jim Barrett as a great GE player in my eyes.

). as far as ge itself, i agree with matt ^, that silo run was ridiculous; it almost inspired me to try silo 00. almost.

I still don't get how people can say they're better than players X,Y or Z in multiplayer when they don't even have played against X, Y or Z.

I've lost pretty often playing againt my friend Dantte, I think I lost some multi skill playing for times too much, I usually won over him before anyway. It's really when playing for times you learn just how to do fast on an particular level and course and it doesn't improve your reaction speed or being able to handle many different situations, I think my aim should be relatively good though.

I didn't get a chance to play you or anybody else here and recently have discovered this board. I knew something like this had to be online so I sought you out and found the best people at the game.

Speaking of which, does any of you know the place in Washington State, USA., where they consistently have Goldeneye Tournaments or a place where we can meet and play. If you live in Washington, email me so we can talk. I haven't thought about doing anything like this till now, and yes, if you consider 18 old, is 24 too old?

Sad to see you leaving Jim, I am glad I managed to convince you to continue playing GE about 3 years ago. You have did some great work, achieved the GE podium and have set some damn good records.

Enjoy your life without GE, it still works for me!

Time to seal the deal. My best friend of 5 years has left for the Air Force for 4+ years and has continually been my only multiplayer I could face. I'm depressed as all hell and with this, I am completely shutting down all GE operations (corny way to say things), completely 100% retiring. Sorry Goose, I'll never get the pleasure in re-passing you.

I've been thinking about retiring myself but some part of me just says "Gotta pass Jimbo first!".
