Dan's alarms on his 118 looked pretty insane...is it the lookdown that's getting you to 117?
The lock on the strafe, full lookdown saves a bit, straighter line to the second alarm (not much) Dan also didn't have a boost and he got stuck, why his 3rd alarm leave was worse than mine, little stuff like that. My alarms were getting better and better all the time and in the end I could afford to loose a bit, it's really just the last alarm basically but.
So in the end this is a bit less maxed than I expected but still great, this mush have been a really high decimal. I think this has always been a hard level to understand, particularly the alarms but I know an easy way to determine how good the alarms are, all you need to do is just listen to at what point you are when the door closes. If the run is as good as mine otherwise then you need to be at about the corner leaving the alarms when the door closes, then you've done a 1.17 alarm

Also there's not much need to back up at all on the second and 3rd alarm since you can practically leave in strafe just when the alarm blows and then have full speed up faster.
It was actually Dan who inspired me to go from 1:20 to 1:19, I just learned alot when I saw how easily he could get 1:19. 1:18 seemed pretty hard when I got it and I didn't think I'd ever seriously try for 1:17 but my will to do something insane and this being one of my favourite levels and realising that Dan was still ahead of me in this level made me want to go for it eventually.
