Some players and I guess codecs will change file type asciations, you can change them back within the options of the programs you use.

VLC = VideoLan Client, i.e a media player that can take all file formats.

Thanks Mouse. Both those vids are pretty insane. I was a bit underwhelmed by some of the "first attempt" videos, but the newest batch have more of the extreme skills (if you can call it that) I was hoping for.

why don't people who know how to work computers and and the codecs and such just make wmvs of the files?

that's KIND OF what I did with Runway 37 (when I had the codecs) and that's KIND OF what inspired boss to try himself.
