it doesn't change how much easier ntsc would be. try and tell me where I lost 55s in my 56 runs, those were high 56s for sure. I had a lot of close 57s.

That was a good idea to do the pauses while waiting for the guards ontop of the mainframe, probably saved a second with doing that.  Instead of skipping the BA on 00 you could maybe skip some more guards, there's quite a few options.  Some you might not think of are the black room guards, particularly the one by the mainframe.  You run past him and alert the blast room guards then turn around and kill him quickly and hurry over to the next guard.

You could probably skip 3 of those black room guys.  But the survival rate would be Caverns-like.  If not worse :eek

Not that i have the patience to beat my.....2.27 :x :x

Archives.....now thats a level i'd rather play.  But i fear i'll never PR it again.  I had a couple of nice 57s back in 2003, PAL, closed double doors.  I was using mini-CC then too, and ive been practicing with full cruise (obviously better).  Dunno if i could ever do 56 though.  I have both consoles, though have been using PAL because its in color ;)   But is it really 0.6 slower?????????  man, i need to get across to NTSC fast!

Also.....is 16 likely possible with cruise (either console)?  What did Wouter use?  I assume 1.2......

Just watched Bryan's Control vids....

my question is:  Does he have a way of knowing when to exit?  On that 4.17 run, would he really risk a fail by jumping as he did?  He jumped the 4.00 too, as though he knew it would complete as it faded.  I was never able to judge....and by waiting, objective A always took forever to show up :|

Saint Shang, don't post in the WR topic, unless you got a WR. It will get deleted soon.  Just so you know.

I used 1.1 CC here.:evil   I tried 1.2 for a bit, but it wasn't as cool here as runway.

My 0:45 SA and 0:53 00A are all with that backstrafing trainshot. So anyone can do it (I could easily have gotten 44 / 52 as well)

I don't know what the backstrafing TS is.  I just know theres the one before the wall, and the one after the wall.  I obvioulsy did the one before the wall.

It was actually easier to get 26 like this, than 27 with the other TS.  Only my TS succes rate dropped from 70% to about 5%. :p

There's a limit to how fast she can complete, it's kind of like the hostages on Frigate, just have to take the chanse if you want to get really good times on that level and eventually she will complete fast. I think the fastest she can complete is 17-18 sec after her last message dissapears so we try to time to jump into the elevator within that time.

EDIT: oh and congrats to Ryan

I suspect its probably frigate-like, Ilari.  But thanks :D

i think i'll add a few secs, to get more certainty.  Either way, i will have a play tonight, my times are poorer than a Baghdad busker.  I can finally get sub 28mins SA total.  Which i should have done 2 years ago :rolleyes

Its weird how there is such a clot of players with 4.10.  Lucky i didnt retire with 4.11 :rollin

Ryan....nice time :D

When i mean is, one of the WR runs establishes the player's potential, almost implying almost all of his other record claim.  For other shitty PRs, who cares?  Indeed, who wants to see that Cavs?  Maybe he has 10 minutes, and 6.XX is b/s.  Still 0 points ;)

I dont have a working VCR or tapes.  But i might get a recordable DVD player, for general use anyway.  We'll see.

Ngamer OBVIOUSLY made sure he was the one to show me first....."I am Jon Bearder, and I make the rules, etc....".

So i've seen it.  Its totally irrelevant for my sub-90 improvers, i'll only tape for times that would need it (WRs and other pwnage) ;)

I think for someone that makes a comeback, they also should require to tape some of the new PRs. it's too easy to just hang around and post stuff without proving anything, just because you've proven some (often only decent) times several milleniums ago and are "trustworthy". There's no trustworthiness in the concept of what is legit. any person has the ability to lie so nothing that isn't proven is legit in our eyes. I wouldn't know why I would even have to believe you made a comeback for real, you threw your GE cartridge in a lake, for GE Satanist's sake. PLUS you're making excuses about not being able to tape, and being difficult about it. Get over it, the "easy lying"-age has passed. Just be glad that quite a lot is still allowed to be done on the "normal" rankings, whereas the proven rankings only allows proven times of course.

I'm in the process of setting it up.  And i also knew that you (and you alone) would take that tone.  I was just waiting for it to happen :lol

Chances are, the next PR(s) will be DVD's up.
The question is.....what software do i use to chop up the footage?

There are loads of records unproven.  So whilst its unfortunate i dont have it taped....i will be getting away with it.  And i'll get better times than that on the DVDRW setup (hopefully) anyhow.

If i was to be disallowed 23, you might as well ban me altogether because at least then i would stop playing.  I shouldnt have come back, but its a drug :o

Well there are unproven times i have that used to be WRs (and were when i got them).  Such as 39 Runway, 54 Dam, 1:20 Dam, etc.  Those have been up for two years.....so.....?

AND i can think of someone else who, remarkably, hasnt proved 39 :|

I hope this can be forgiven.  Bear in mind that every second of play will be DVDR'D up from now on.  I just wasnt set up for taping before, and didnt want to wait til i was to get the 23.   Hmmn.....:\

Times gotten before the proof policy came into effect are not going to be removed for lack of proof except in extreme circumstances (Sucrams Def PA 1:23, for example).

Any new times that you get since the proof policy has come into effect should be taped.  You're still at a high enough level where any PRs you'll get will be worth a lot of points or will be WRs, so of course those should be proven.

Try for 22, if you don't want to get 23 again. ;)

Are you even ranked?  If yes, what's your name?  If no, then the answer to your question is NO!

Anyways, I'm posting this because I'm bored, and I can't play Silo right now because I'm on the brink of game rage.  Here's a new strat.  If someone's done it before, let me know, and I will edit this post to say "I AM GAY."

On Surface 1 SA/00 everyone wants to self boost to get 149 or 148.  I think I saw posts about this on an old board, where you fire the nades in the air.  Here's a more consistent (boostwise) strat.

After you get the safe key, going to the safe hut, do not use forwards strafe.  Use backstrafe like in frigay.  Must be 1.2.  Basically, you look down a few degrees, and fire the nades at the ground in front of you, giving boosts.  The hard thing is, the line is bitchy and the boosts can be gay.  It does work and I have indeed tried this.  Basically, you'd be backstrafing and once you saw that fence on your right, you'd switch back to front strafe and do the level like normal.

I know everyones probably too lazy to try this, but w/e.  I was bored.

thats pretty clever!  Ive never heard about it before.  Maybe it would work in Streets A too, the boosts would hurt you less perhaps, allowing for more (12 available, right?).

Its a shame it has to be 1.2, though.....

There's actually only 6 availible, but you could kill RL guys for 8 total.  Plus it would work on SA/00 if there's a spot to turn around.  So 6 extra boosts there is like 154 territory maybe.:evil :evil

It doesn't have to be 1.2, 1.1 no CC would do it, but Wouter's the only guy in the world who can play 1.1 no CC.  My reverse CC theory would work too, if it's perfected.:p

Has anyone tried doing the tracker bug toss before you enter the first door on the boat?  I was doing this like a year ago I think got on it there a couple times, I know I was usally really close.  This could save a couple seconds since you could have it complete while your killing the first guard and not have to wait.  What I was doing was running up the stairs at full speed with forward and left strafe, aiming up something like a 55* angle I can't remember exactly, toss as you come to the top of the stairs and the bug should just barely miss hitting the boat right away.  I was hard to get it to go far enough, it'd usually land just short I think.

I just had an idea, doing the normal agent bug toss on SA, you could do some quick pauses while waiting to speed up the pauses for the bomb defuser.

Tried the long bug toss, never got it to work.  That would save a bunch of time though.

That pausing ideas pretty good.  Might try that.

SW... I've tried that out before. I don't especially recommend it (it seems as though the bug fails more often) and it doesn't really save that much. Though I suppose it's helpful in theory.

A lot of people have thought of that SA1 strat including myself.  It's hard to do it right but I think it could potentially save a second or 2, prolly just want to boost on the one long stretch.

I've tried boosting myself in backstrafe on S1, however, you loose a little bit in changing to back strafe, it may not seem like it but you do. The boosts aren't as efficient as they may seem either and the lag from the explotions must make you loose time as I didn't get any succes with it.

Maybe I didn't try enough but I really think it's faster to not do two strafe changes but just strafe like normally and get at least as good boosts from the guards.

You don't need 2 strafe changes, Just go backwards after getting the GL. Anyways, You could like use lookdown between the shots to save some lag. And if you do the second strafe change exactly as you get boosted it shouldn't loose more than going normal.

And nice idea for Frigate SW.
