Both are easy to complete if you don't want a fast time, just kill anyone in the level. But it's way harder to get points on GE and the guards are more aggressive / have better accuracy than on PD.

I think that's why GE players don't have much problem after switching to PD. On the other hand, PD players aren't that good at GE.

I have to agree that GE is easier than PD, but it is different for everybody. The main reason we can all compete at such a high level above anyone else who has ever played either game, is that we've played the games so much. In order to do speed runs, you need to have the knowledge of anything that can happen during the level, and that only can come with experience.

Personally, I have played PD and find it very hard. I have not beaten it in SA, and I don't have WAR or Maian SOS. Whatever game you are more accustomed to, is the game you will obviously play better. If I picked up PD and started going for times, I think I would have a LOT of trouble even getting 10 points for most agent levels, meanwhile in GE I have around 70 points per agent level.

So basically, whatever game you have the knowledge about is the one you will be successfull at. This is why sometimes we have noobs who come here, never having played the game before, who suck.

I don't think so : GE is far easier than PD (I could probably finish the game in 00 without dying on a few tries, whereas perfect agent in PD is...ouch!). Besides, getting points on GE is also easier. That's why I definitely switched to GE : I wasn't good enough at PD...

Harvey explains it very well in a topic called "Perfect Dark IS difficult" on the PD board.
Now, it's true that I can't really compare my level at GE with my level at PD because of the difference in playing time, but when I began to compete for fast times in both games, I immediatly saw a big difference between these two games and made my choice consequently...not that I am good at GE, but still, I've got some *decent* times, I think.

Anyway, here are some new times :
Control Agent 4'13 : not that bad...average run, lucky ending (didn't see obj A completed on screen).
Control SA 4'41 : sucks, I will go for lower very soon (after I get a time on Depot 00)
Bunker 2 SA 1'14

Maybe it's just me then... but damn, to me, Aztec 00A is harder than all the PD levels on Perfect Agent multiplied! Also, take a look at the current top PD/GE players:

PD rank:

1st - Bryan (originally a GE player, on the PD ranks he climbed from nothing to 2nd place in no time )

3rd - Karl (same, was a great GE player, destroyed almost every PD WR in 4 weeks, back in 2002)

13th - Trent (GE player, had one of the fastest rises ever on PD)

14th - Wouter (former GE champ, went from 40th to 13th without too much problem)

And Dan also has some WRs there.

Now look at the GE ranks. The best "PD player" is Greg Lewis (dunno about Randy), ranked 19th. Quite a difference. Like I said, I don't know if it's just me, but GE is way harder in my opinion.

I think what it comes down to is that it takes longer to learn GE than PD on the average to get the same times point-wise.

I believe what makes poeple think PD is harder is that they are so used to getting good point times on GE since they played it for like 2+ years. I'm sure that if these poeple would play PD for 2+ years they'd be at least on the same level if not higher.

I post stuff, play for 10 min, and get this:

SILO A 110

107 cam pause, best so far. Screwed ending real bad. Thought I had 111 again, of which I would have raped my controller.

Happy now, but ever since I was a young GE speedrunner I wanted sub 110. Especially since it would be a CR untied, and its one of the funnest levels.

Anyways, this is tougher than depot 26, which you can't argue since less people have 110 or better than do have 26.

Lol, my 1:09 took like 20-30mins. My 26 depot took like 4-5(? Dont remember) hours. I guess im just unlucky.

You just need to keep going if you want to not get stuck there, Laers. It will look like you took the door entrance too wide, but it's faster than getting stuck at the door

yeah I just took the chanse because I knew that run wasn't that great, maybe it would only have been 2:03 if I hadn't done that, dunno. I doubt it saves more than a tenth or two at most though.

Since i came across this website its like ive been reborn where Goldeneye`s concerned. I didn`t have any motivation or incentive to try for better times before, and now im breaking my PRs all over the place. In the last few days ive had well over 50, knocking minutes off my overall time. But then since my times are crap compared to everybody else :lol

im bound to be doing that. Ive only got another 25 mins to come off before i set my next goal. Wont happen over night, but im enjoying it all the same.

Laercio, there's a few reasons why I have so many 36s. I like the level. I can kill trev a lot. 36 is slow.

Use 60ish degree lookup at the beginning. Less lag and faster trev usually.
