Hi Nathan,  
     
  We need to do a bit of a course correction regarding dates for the Mario Kart Meet.  It turns out that Drew will be vacationing with his in-laws on Cape Cod   during the week that includes July 30 through August 4.  It doesn't make sense for us to host without him.  As previously discussed...the week that   includes July 23 through July 28 doesn't work for you since it conflicts with the Euro Meet.  The week that includes August 6 through August 11   doesn't work for us since we'll be in Boston at a wedding.  
     
  That leaves just one set of dates.  I am recommending that we do Thursday, August 14, through Monday, August 18.  Drew likes arriving Thursday night the best   because it means he only has to take two days of work off (Friday and Monday) and it makes both weeks short ones.  
     
  Sorry for the changing paddles in mid-stream but better to get it right now rather than further down the road.

I may miss the first day or two of classes, but oh well :-p

Last summer's even was billed as arrive Thursday eve and leave Monday night.  We had the first group arrive Wed afternoon and the last person leave on   Tuesday morning....a bit stretched out for Mrs W and me.  Unfortunately many people left either Sunday night or Monday morning which made it seem a day too   short.  
 
  We would prefer that everyone was able to come and go concurrently (about the same time).  I believe that would make it easier for you to plan the event as   well.  I would suggest either arrive Thursday eve and leave Monday eve or arrive Wed eve and depart Sunday eve.  That would give you four full days.

I would love to go to the next meeting. I wanted to go to this one and the one before it years ago but couldn't make either. I could more than likely bring Boss with me if he clears his schedule since i live close to him. Count me in, keep me informed. And oh yeah....it's good to be back, I don't think I've posted in years. If anyone a little less lazy then me wants to capture some videos I have awesome footage of me and Boss playing a MK 64 tourney (which I wont spoil any details...except that Mushroom Cup was decided within 1/100 of a sec) I also have some footage of us doing PD...and I have tapes of my own footage of Halo competitions. I just dont have any time for capturing it all. Let me know if youre interested in capturing....thanks....

This is just a thought for people who read this and will post in the future:

This GE meet, everyone complained about the non-randomness of the spawn points, which is acceptable. So I had an idea. Next GE meet, I will put in GameShark codes to fully unlock the back areas of Facility / Bunker, put in weapons back there, doors, spawn points, and armors....to make for a KILLER tournament. Post your ideas on that here. Regardless, I still will voluntarily run away and let opponents get guns before I @#%$ them up  Just post a vote here, and I'll tally up as we go along.

You can play in Statue or Cradle with GS too. Cradle's fun.

Coming from the southwest corner of the united states, basically anywhere I go will cost me a *lot* of money, and 2 full days travel time.  I'd love to make it to a meet, however unless it is atleast a FULL week, the travel costs really aren't worth it for me.  Plus next summer I plan to have a real job where I can't just leave for a week, so the likelihood of me attending any meet outside of the southwest is really unlikely :-/.  However I do seriously plan to visit canada sometime, probably for 3-4 days and see infil and PDO.


The virginia meet sounded awesome from the start and I seriously looked into travel tickets until my vegas plans arose.  There are dozens of people I'd love to meet and game with at the elite, and that being said, *any* eliter I've talked to is welcome to stay here in San Diego with me.

Wabs, you can get any solo player level in multi, but most are impossible because of the insane lag. Cradle is by far the worst! Now, it's also possible to import PD levels into GE, which you guys can decide come next meet. Just something to think about!

It's simply too much money for an Aussie to travel to the US and back. It's something ridiculous like $3000AU, and you'd certainly want to stay at least a week in the US.

Well I liked Cradle only because of the "room" in the sky, below the level, when you fall from cradle's end in solo and you walk on that invisible ground in the sky and you can't go up anymore. It's a fun place when everybody's here with rocket launchers.

Count Perfect-Light in... I was penciled in for this year's meeting but I wound up going to the beach that weekend instead.  Plus this way I could actually brush up on some of my 64 skills in the meantime.  

And as for the spawn points... isn't that part of being good? It's not cheap if every player can use it to their advantage in my book.
