Actually Toronto is closer to there than Wisconsin, since you have to go around Lake Michigan or whatever.  It's probably close to the same distance so $200 should surely cover.

Jack you could certainly come along with me, I wouldn't want to drive alone, but I can't make any promises that I'm going yet.

edit: Mapquest says 628 miles to Bumpass, not bad.

For people who want semi-accurate fuel costs without actually talking to me, here is a self made chart you can go off of.

If you drive a 4 cylinder car, like a Pontiac Sunfire, Saturn anything, foreign make like a Honda or Hyundai; depending on age go anywhere from 33-40 miles per gallon, just pick one that YOU think is right. (obviously a 2008 is gonna get like 40)

If you drive a V6 like me, go anywhere from 22 to 28, based on age again.

If you drive a V8 (doubtful, but Goose is considering taking a big Suburban), go anywhere from 12 (1986 and older) to 19 (modern day Durango or something)

Take the mileage from where you are, to Virginia, and divide it by your miles per gallon you get; after that times it by 3 ($3.00 a gallon of gas, just a rough guess at the price for next year at this time) and you get how much it would cost one way.

Example: 1986 Chevy Celebrity, well tuned, I get 28 highway MPG, 1080 miles to Bumpass Virginia. Would cost me $115 in gas to get there, and about $200-$230 both ways.

Not sure how Zerg and I are planning on getting there right now. Might try to hitch a ride with other Minnesotans.

Eddie you also have a tiny 4.6L V8 that only hauls a car. I'd give you 22 but not 25 =P

Difference between 22 and 25 mpg is driving habits.

You have to be 18 to attend the gaming meeting. So I doubt you or Zergy will be able to come. Plus, you guys don't have a driver's license. ;)

I've done 410 miles on one 15.2 gallon tank (all freeway) which is 27 mpg...exactly what's advertised on the sticker :b  Obviously that is the best I can get with keeping a constant speed, no of course I'm not going to get 25 with city driving or heavier acceleration, etc

This page of this thread pretty much categorizes the whole meet from last year. lol

anyways, I'm hoping to find out when the Netherlands meet is supposed to be, so we can plan ours.

Whats best for most people? Early or late Summer? Or a different time even?

BTW - I live about 20 miles from a mountain called Sugarloaf Mountain

I don't doubt you're really dedicated to the game considering the time spent on being with it.  I'm sure it has made you a stronger player but don't go on saying you're the best unless you're really Jimbo.  But I'm sure we're all best in a different way...styles allowed.

Someone asked me who I was so I guess I'd better show up for the meet next year.(yeah, sounds like a passage in a novel in the fp but this is a fps board).

There's a 99% chance I'll make it so put me down.  Unless something really crazy happens and GE or I just dissapear.  I need to attend at least one of these since I enjoyed this game so much.

I think we can make this topic an exception of being dead and never to be locked.  Will post again to find out details of where the next one is.  Yes, thinking way in advance here.

After the turn of the year, I hope to get in touch with Weatherton, and get all of our plans worked out further

I'd also like to form a committee, of sorts. If you would be interested in being a member, let me know!

Well, THATS one reason I need to form a committee, to help get relevant information decided to the best of everyone, with not just me trying to work it out to work for people.

I'd be agreeable to letting Jimbo be a part

And, for Axem, We're assuming next summer, range from June-August sometime. Although, right now, its appearing like its going to be Early August-Late July, like it was last year :-
As for place, we are hoping to have it at the same location in Virginia. Although this has NOT been confirmed yet, thats one reason I'm going to get together with Weatherton if I can after the beginning of the year to finalize if we can use his parents lake house again. If we could, I'd say that most everyone would be in agreement to go back there, after the amazing trip we had this year.

Here's a few things I've heard so far:

Quote
Last summer's even was billed as arrive Thursday eve and leave Monday night. We had the first group arrive Wed afternoon and the last person leave on   Tuesday morning....a bit stretched out for Mrs W and me. Unfortunately many people left either Sunday night or Monday morning which made it seem a day too   short.

We would prefer that everyone was able to come and go concurrently (about the same time). I believe that would make it easier for you to plan the event as   well. I would suggest either arrive Thursday eve and leave Monday eve or arrive Wed eve and depart Sunday eve. That would give you four full days.

So, if we did something like that, the most likely dates would be...

July

Wed - Sun 23-27

Thurs - Mon 24-28

These would be during the Euro Meet, not recommended.

Wed - Sun 30-3

Thurs - Mon 31-4

This would be alright.. just really close to the Euro Meet, plus Mark Jones (if he came) wouldn't make it the whole time

Wed - Sun 16-20

Thurs - Mon 17-21

This would be the week before the Euro Meet, and may run concurrently with the beginning of it.

August

Wed - Sun 6-10

Thurs - Mon 7-11

This would most likely keep Jones out of it.

Wed - Sun 13-17

Thurs - Mon 14-18

This would probably be last possible date time-wise, for schools starting back.

We could also start back any time before The Euro Meet, most likely

SO, What we need to know most... which of those dates would you NOT be able to make it to, since most people would probably have more dates they could make, then couldn't.

For myself, the 13-17/14-18 Range may interfere with school, not sure... and the other dates right close to the Euro Meet would keep me rushing and away for almost 2 weeks :-

but, for now, the only one I definitely couldn't do is the week of the Euro Meet in 23-27/24-28... that is, if I end up attending. Otherwise, this would be fine.

BREAKING NEWS:
Quote
Hi Nathan,

We need to do a bit of a course correction regarding dates for the Mario Kart Meet.  It turns out that Drew will be vacationing with his in-laws on Cape Cod   during the week that includes July 30 through August 4.  It doesn't make sense for us to host without him.  As previously discussed...the week that   includes July 23 through July 28 doesn't work for you since it conflicts with the Euro Meet.  The week that includes August 6 through August 11   doesn't work for us since we'll be in Boston at a wedding.

That leaves just one set of dates.  I am recommending that we do Thursday, August 14, through Monday, August 18.  Drew likes arriving Thursday night the best   because it means he only has to take two days of work off (Friday and Monday) and it makes both weeks short ones.

Sorry for the changing paddles in mid-stream but better to get it right now rather than further down the road.

  Regards,

  Mr. Weatherton

so..............
let me know, will these dates work for anyone?
I may miss the first day or two of classes, but oh well :-p

5 days doesn't seem long enough, maybe it's just me though. I'd think a 6 day would work out perfect. Wednesday to Monday would be my 2 cents on days I'd prefer. As for time, doesn't matter, by that time I'll have so much vacation racked up that I'll just take the full 2 weeks off. I'm definitely down with later being better though.

welllll, I posted earlier in the thread why it couldn't be longer.. from mr. Weatherton... they are pretty busy, and its somewhat of a burden to host a bunch of us for a long period of time, imagine that:-p

and, as far as I know, there is no limit (for kicks, let's say 30, could we even get that?)
