I'd like to play more 1vs1 against everyone. Like Patrik said, 4-player isn't at all the same. Actually other than in the tournament, the only people I played 1vs1 were Jimbo and Greg. Well plus an "exhibition" against Trent in complex where I used 1.2 and he used 1.1 (I won )

A PD challenge would be MUCH more challenging and exciting, than those Pistol settings again. Like I probably said earlier, with PD you can randomize the weapons and you have to be good with everything, at every location, plus you dont have that gay stuff like that you have to hack and slash someone for fourty minutes with an RCP before he dies.

i agree with Bulldog about the RCP stupidity! when i play with powers (usually -10 health, though sometimes -4) i always outlaw that piece of garbage! anyone who uses it gets sacked!

Hack and slash with the RCP...?
nothin' moves me more than a groove that soothes me
nothin' soothes me more than a groove that boosts me
nothin' boosts me more, or suits me beautifully

You get a decent weapon setup with like 50% of the times. The other half you get something like 3 n-bombs, 2 x-ray and one empty. Then it's a fucking mess, although it's hella fun

Some ideas on EM3
- Alternate GE tournament, non-LTK.  It became clear this year that defensive players are rewarded, which makes for bad spectating.  Something that doesn't reward armor whoring either.
- GE agent speed run competition
- Won't someone get serious about SMK this year?
- Moar ice sculptures
- Make that punt, pass, kick business into a mini olympics.
- Scrabble?  I might be the only one interested on that one.  Well, me and Woll!

It would be nice if we could have a few extra days. That's what I'm lobbying for right now.

If we had a few extra days, we could fit in all of these events (or, if everyone only slept 6am-10am like me, so we'd have a lot of time:-p)

For GE, I think it would be neat to do settings with low health, but not LTK... that way, you can get a 1-hit kill on a headshot, but an arm or foot or leg shot won't one hit kill. Trunk shots will take 2-3 hits to kill, etc. Me and some friends used to do this awhile back. It was pretty fun:)
I'd say that the lowest ranked person could choose whether or not they wanted to choose the level, or the weapons set (although I think we should disallow proxy mines, and maybe remote mines, because people will just turtle the whole game), and the other person will choose the other. Then, each loser from there on out will get to choose whether or not they want to choose the weapons set or level. I think it would be fun, and I think a similar setting for PD would be a blast.

Also, I'd love to have a morning where we all load up in vehicles, and go to a park, or that school that the GNC was at last year, and just play a big game of football (big field), baseball, basketball, soccer, et al.

just a few ideas for now!

Also, for time... I'm thinking early August would be an optimal time for people again, especially for me, as it would fall between summer classes and fall classes. What do others think?

August is fine for me.  People might be in uproar if the loser can pick anything, mainly because so many options are so shitty.  I'll ponder some ideas and post later.

I can't believe everyone wants the end of LTK!

I guess I'm not against mixing it up a bit (although I'd still favor the tournament being LTK only) but some stuff like proxy mines definitely can't be allowed, that would just lead to a chain reaction of spawn deaths.

And August is just fine.

Well a tournament with free choise for weapons could turn out to be fun... or funny I'm not sure how people would feel about the final being decided with slappers

But there are good reasons for people using only LTK Pistols in tournaments, I mean that way we immediately make it be more about skilled fast kills, anticipating the opponent and reducing the too big of an advantage someone can get by simply being spawned next to a good weapon.

The thing is that if some of us play against some newbies we'll win in any case but in an tournament it can turn out to be too much about luck since both players are skilled and whoever gets the better weapons or most BA would win.

So when making this decision we need to think if we really can make it be more about skill with some other settings, otherwise I think the main tournament should still be done with LTK pistols. Surely it would be fun to have a side tournament that is like almost totally random with weapons and even the scenario, should make for some really funny moments. I can imagine a final being decided in flag tag mode maybe, hell we could even use those levels where you can shut the door and the otherone not being able to do anything without the proper weapons, what would I do in that situation? hmm well I guess I would shoot like mad outside trying to hope the other player sticks his hand out just when I fire at him.

Well these kinds of stuff we should almost definitely avoid but sure if we want a really freaky, funny side tournament it could be fun, so if this scenario would turn up both players would know instantly that whoever catches the flag first will probably win, whoever gets the chanse then has to take it or lose it.

^^Exactly why LTK Pistols is the only way to go. The main tournament should be serious.

When I played Eise last summer we played -10 Hero a bit and I ended up loosing like every time. I think I hit him more than he hit me, but he knew where all the body armors was. It feels pretty cheap playing like that, cause even tho I knew where a body armor was I didn't want to pick it up, cause it's not really fair.

I don't think defensive LTK plays are boring to watch, it actually makes it kinda interesting. And when things happen super fast from standing still theres usually noisy when people cheering and stuff at the tournament. I will never forget the round against Ilari, cause it was really ON! I won over him at the swedish meeting, and we used to be really close in multiplayer. Then he practiced and played a lot in Virginia. We both gave it all to win. It wasn't about wining or loosing the tournament, the battle was between me and Ilari. The matches was probably long and boring for some people, but for me and Ilari it was so intense. I've never been more concentrated in my life I think, cause every time I got hit it really felt like I was hit IRL. LTK is the setting for the tournament, since GE doesn't have a good random weapon system. Still it would be fun to play something else then LTK, but lets do it outside the classic tournament.

PD is more suited for randomized battles, cause you can kill fast with most weapons if you get a couple of head shots. I don't find LTK PD that fun anyway. So who is up for the PD tournament?

I'm a huge advocate of LTK pistols and usually only want to play that when it comes to multi. Likewise, I should clarify that I was suggesting the alternative scenarios as part of side tournaments for fun. LTK pistols should always be the main standard. Though while the suspense is appreciated, it seems to me the key to winning LTK is waiting for your opponent to make a move on your terms. If both players have that approach, the matches can be extremely cagey and slow. Kinda like an MMA fight where both guys are clearly waiting to take down the other, so they just stand in front of each other for minutes at a time.

Cruise Control LTK pistols would be hilariously intense.

If you think my monkey wrenches are bad look at how many are being thrown at you.  You could try duel like in PD?  Maybe at the bottom of the temple where the magnum would be or at the top on the large side of the pit?

This game isn't as advanced so you don't start with a weapon and I'm at a loss how to level the playing field.  You have the same chance at knowing the level as your opponent.

Outside the tournaments I'm usually very offensive too. But it would be stupid to do uncontrolled kamiz the whole time for the sake of it in the tournaments. Sure you would get some great kills, the match will probably be more interesting to watch but it would not show "who has the best LTK skills". I totally agree with Clark about waiting for your opponent to make a move on your terms. The LTK style is to really not try to attack when you shouldn't, that's a skill itself.

The best match last year in terms of action, cool shots and stuff was probably the one between Illu and Jimbo. They had nothing to loose, since none cared about a third place in the tournament.

Too bad there isn't a way to have 2 different TVs to play 1on1 like newer games. Definately is a different ballgame with no radar and you can't look to see where they are.

Oh man, that'd be intense. But you'd have to ban spectators from saying too much, like if the players starting getting (unknowingly) close to each other on a map.

it would definitely make for an interesting spectacle...

I'd think the easiest way of handling it would be on a pc playing emulated style somehow, because I would think it would be easier to split a signal from PC, or maybe not

We did this at Illinois in 2002.  I will say that a huge part of LTK skills as we know it is based on reacting to the other players movement.  I think it's a skill in itself to be able to manage two screens at once.  Taking that away from it makes it an entirely different game.  It does remove the defensiveness though.

We thought about rigging this at the Swedish Meeting aswell, cause I had all the cables needed to do it, but we never did. It's not that hard.

We could even split it three times. Have the two gaming televisions and wire the signal to the projector for spectators. Cover the opponents screen at the gaming sets.

This would be fun at some levels, there would be alot of backstabbing moments for instance. Too bad levels like Library? is that the combined one? is too big to even find each other.

EDIT: Maybe radar on would be a good setting. That would be good anti-camping-wise and also the radar doesn't tell you where the player is, just the locations. He could on a higher or lower level. I would vote for a radar on atleast.

Also, there girls aren't allowed at the meet either, Jon. I still find it funny that you thought Liz was a guy though .

hahaha clark, thats hilarious!

Girls arent allowed to go? Jody was there the first year and then liz the second year.

As far as drinking and drugs it was just QB hitting the H hard. OK OK you got me, wonn got in on the action too, because david was glitching all over the place and QB was absent.

I also believe 4 way MP, or 2 way championship split screen is the way to go. I would love to see this, I think it would be a totally different game, regardless of knowing the spawn points. This would be more challenging.
OG Strat master also donator to the elite - Implemented the idea of WR/PR's to be displayed by "video" on the MAIN PAGE of the elite in the late 90's - Goldeneye N64 World Champion 57/60 WR held at 1 point - Sold the James Bond of boats called "Sunseekers" for 4 years went on to start my own brand

Girls are allowed to go obv. I'm gonna be focused a lot more on Kart at these tournaments nowdays (already having a victory in GE and all), so whatever you guys wanted to do in GE is fine with me
