It all depends what kind of person you are.
If I were a successful young businessman working downtown going to all the corporate events meeting all sorts of people, or if I were a young doctor working in the ER at the hospital, I'm sure I would be more interested in older women. They're attracted to successful men with status and a young man in this position sticks out, making him very attractive. Throw on some Stetson Black and you're set with these cougars.
If I were successful, but not overly successful, just doing well in school and with an alright job, I would probably have a girlfriend of the same age as me, or within 1 year difference up or down. This is because this kind of thing would be attractive to this kind of girl. The first option would be more attractive, but this type of man is not realistic for your average college girl, therefore they will settle for something decent.
However, right now, I pretty much have no life, sit here fapping every night, failing classes, gambling all my money away, so the only type of girl I can get are those younger, and this is why I'm attracted to them.
Essentially, the man needs to garner some kind of "advantage" and be above the woman to be attractive to her. If you have a good job, lots of money, status and confidence, there are very few women you don't have this advantage over. If you have nothing, then your only advantage is age. I think that is why you see so many people interested in younger girls on 4chan and similar sites... because the general population consists of low lifes who are simply beat out by the competition of their own age. A 19 year old girl, when presented with the choice of them, or a guy who does well in school and has a job will take the latter. A 15 year old girl, when presented with the choice of this internet nerd or a high school kid has a much tougher choice which can more often lead to the former.
This is why the age of consent should be lowered. It would give confidence to those who are in need of it. The losers out there could get girlfriends without being frowned upon by society, which would then lead to them getting confidence and freeing them to do bigger things with their life.
Lower age of consent = higher productivity.
