It was bad annotation. In Matis' sentence "stating that goose is a fucking faggot" is a composite noun. Therefore, the sentence follow proper structure. "It is just simple (noun.)" An incomplete sentence, yes, but it's more rational broken down than at a first glance.

That being said, Matis could easily have claimed he should have wrote "simply" and it would be a much simpler solution.
