[1] Boston Bruins over [6] Carolina Hurricanes in 5 gamesBoston has a great team this year. Carolina has a pretty great team as well being able to beat New Jersey. Cam Ward is definitely the 3rd best Canadian goalie right now, and alas, he will be hard to beat. The series will be closer than 5 games (just like Vancouver/St. Louis was closer than a sweep) but in the end, Boston will win this series. Lucic has Ruutu covered. Savard has Staal covered. Recchi and Brind'amour is a tossup, Thomas and Ward are a tossup. The Canes are very good, but Boston's grit and talent is just too much to handle for the young Carolinamesh.
[3] Pittsburgh Penguins over [2] Washington Capitals in 6 gamesAgain, Washington is a pretty bad team overall, but random luck and other intangible criteria seems to be on their side. Pittsburgh will own this series just like they owned all three series last year. The outcome won't be representative of how close the series actually is. Crosby will totally own Ovechkin in total points since he, you know, uses his teammates.
[2] Detroit Red Wings over [8] Anaheim Ducks in 6 gamesThe Ducks have been to the 3rd round three times since 2003. The Wings are the best team since the league grew to 26 franchises. This will be an epically hot series. The Wings will ultimately prevail because of their pure awesomeness, but the Ducks won't go down without a fight.
[4] Chicago Blackhawks over [3] Vancouvre Canucks in 6 gamesSimply put, the Blackhawks have the better team. Vancouvre has more experience, not necessarily in the playoffs, but just overall. The Canucks almost made it to round 3 in 2006 but Luongo had the runs. This is pretty much an impossible series to predict, but I'm going to say that because of home ice, Luongo and Sundin, the Canucks will do it. Apart from last year, since 2004 a Canadian team has made a huge run, so we'll safely say that trend will continue. Besides, last year the Habs were supposed to do it but they're the Habs. The Canucks and the Leafs are the only teams not to do it yet, so that means Vancouvre this year and Leafs next year. GO LEAFS GO.
11th hour edit; Chicago is simply too tough for the Canucks. The core of Vancouvre (Wellwood, Kesler, Pyatt, Bieksa) are great, but Chicago is far too tough for them. Khabiboulin can play as good as Luongo. I'm sticking with my first opinion that Chicago is this year's Pittsburgh. GO CHICAGO.
