Yeah, I'd just like to say thanks to Ngamer and Cara for doing the show and putting up with me getting kicked every 5 seconds. And an extra special thanks to Cara for editing everything and putting in the smooth jazzy background music, which I thought was a nice touch!

This episode was surely enjoyable to listen to. I think because of two reasons; first of all, three people speaking makes it more interesting because everyone has its own input (might even wanna try 4?) and secondly, the music in the background made it really 'chilly' to listen to this, without silences and all that stuff.

Just want to say good luck to you Hugo in todays match. The match result is irrelevant to me and if I would lose I couldn't have lost to a better guy!

I'm already thankful for making it so far and also for everybody who votes for me.

Someone: Today we have Ten Hams vs Come. Ham is quite tasty, whereas Come - er... forget that train of thought. I vote for Steve.

Someone: Come on! Come comes in chat, come-ent on the board, comeplain about Alec and Goose and compete in chats and other activities, come-pared to Matthjis who's not around anymore... Come to the dark side guys!

In a surprisingly close match, we have Come pulling out a single vote victory over Matthijs. After how easily Matthijs was eliminated from last years contest, it's a little hard to believe how well he has done this year. The strangest thing about this match, however, was that Matthijs actually won the new/newest school of voters, which probably means I may have just been overestimating Come. Antivotes may have been an issue here, but Matthijs still managed to draw well from GE and Europe, which does not come as a surprise. Come, on the other hand, easily took chat, NA, and PD. This was also another case of Come taking a huge lead early (he lead by as many as , and Matthijs catching up when Europe woke up, and actually managed to take a lead of his own. The final push of the day favored Come, however, and he managed to win on the last vote cast on the day.

Someone: I'll give you -110 on 5:1 odds that Shep wins this one. No wait! 5:1 with 5% juice. $5,000 bet. And I'm insuring it! I'm insuring $1,000 with 5% juice, all right?

Someone: Most UK music or tv personalitys, always want to make it big in the USA. The beatles did it, a number of actors did it, but most fail. Shep seems to have succeeded....well as far as making a few friends in the Elite is concerned. He has done his country proud, and I vote for him.

After having the two biggest wins of the contest this year, Shep got matched up against an opponent who could actually put up a fight. The end result of this, however, was another big win by Shep against the ever popular 1 seed, Glen Stevens. Shep was able to easily win this match, winning almost every major category, even pulling a draw in GE, strangely enough. OD managed to keep it close in most places, but the only win he could muster up was in the ancients voting block, which wasn't nearly enough. It would appear that Shep is definitely a contest force, and could potentially compete for it all this year.

Someone: I owe Eddie a lot of thanks, gratitude, respect, and overall props in this vote. Ever since the beginning when we first met on the boards (due to his unproven Statue times) he's been nothing but a good sport and great person to get to know and talk to (albeit he's very quiet). We're both competitive in the games and such and guys like him make meets like VA worth every penny spent. Fuck yeah Eddie!!

Someone: another matchup where I have to vote against the guy I've met but infil's my favorite eliter and he'll get my vote till the end of time (or the end of my time whichever comes first).

Infil came into this contest as the favorite to advance to the finals from the western half of the bracket. Lovins was one of his biggest test, and Infil managed to pull out a slim victory. Lovins managed to dominate his own turf of GE, and also took the new school voters by a slim margin. Unfortunately for Lovins, however, Infil dominated even more at PD, and had more than stellar support from the old school voters. This match was very close throughout the entire day, and Lovins held the lead on several occasions. The final wave of voters, though, were almost entirely backing Infil, as he took 7 out of the last 10 votes to seal his victory. Infil is a tough guy to beat in these contests, as he draws well from nearly everywhere. Lovins did put up a great battle though, and as a result we were treated to a great match.

How about a...bracket preds update? The upsetting of contest favorite octo has upset lots of brackets. The top five sits at:

1. wheat - 78
2. SZ - 76
3. Bozon - 70
4. Lovins - 69
4. PYL - 69

wheat still holds the top spot...but he's in a precarious position. He had octo winning it all, and SZ has...DK! (which can still happen) So the matches to watch for in terms of effect on bracket preds are DK/Illu and also Jimbo/QB, where wheat has Jim and SZ Josh.

Taking a look at the rest of the list...QB has a lock on last place with his awful 25 points! Alex H sits at 40th but with Cara and Illu in the Final Four he still has a good shot to get up higher. There are quite a few ties still remaining...whether those ties will be broken or not is still in question. Come will probably get ahead of me considering he has QB winning it all and I have...........octo.

It's the Elite Eight! Can you feel it, the air is electric!
nothin' moves me more than a groove that soothes me
nothin' soothes me more than a groove that boosts me
nothin' boosts me more, or suits me beautifully
there's nothin' you can do to me; stab me, shoot me

And congrats to Illu in advance.

Myself and Cara and Mgay and Infil just finished up record what will be (I think!) a very enjoyable new edition of the DK and Comet Show.  Cara has to get some sleep at the moment, but after he gets up he'll edit and upload that so we can share it straight off.  In the meantime I wanted to share a different very enjoyable moment, from Chat just a minute ago!

Im Ngamer (1:43:59 AM): anyways I forgot to say a great joke!
Im Ngamer (1:44:12 AM): after Mgay said how QB and Jimbo even look alike in the pics, I was going to say
Im Ngamer (1:44:25 AM): that to make it realistic I'd planned to set Jimbo's pic to 600 pix wide
Regular Mg (1:44:32 AM): hahaha
CarathornPD (1:44:36 AM): hahahahahaha
isthatagoodt (1:44:46 AM): but then he didn't fit?
CarathornPD (1:44:48 AM): damn you should have said that jon
Regular Mg (1:44:56 AM): that would have been awesome
CarathornPD (1:45:12 AM): you should have said that that picture was actually taken by the hubble telescope :-P
Im Ngamer (1:46:02 AM): ah, here we go:

CarathornPD (1:46:11 AM): LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
isthatagoodt (1:46:16 AM): ok lol
isthatagoodt (1:46:18 AM): thats funny

I don't know how many of your saw it but Jimbo's face was blown up there when I saw it.  I heard Jon talking on AIM he stretched Jimbo's face pic.

I guess the irony is that Jimbo thinks my mom blows but he's one to talk considering what the pic was at the time.

You blow better than she does, Jimbo.

Speaking of that podcast, Cara shocked us all by staying up until 11am (it was already 8am when we started the show) in order to get The DK and Comet Show - EP 7 edited and uploaded. What a hero! Hopefully everyone gets a HUGE amount of enjoyment out of his hard work:

Go for it!

(also, expect some very funny "blooper" audio clips to be released soon, as we had alot of silly moments that had to be edited out of the main show)

Someone: Patrik isn't just a guy at the same forums as me and a fellow swede, he's also a good friend but also one of my toughest rivals lately hehe. I would guess he's the guy who's been travelling more than anyone in the elite lately. In his travellings he's also met guite many other gamers in real life. So he's a great contact person, we need more like him if we want to keep in touch and make gaming more social and also if we want to take multi playing to a new level

Someone: I find it hard to figure out exactly why I'm not a Patrick fan, just he doesn't have much spark about him. Cara has a bitter/sweet tongue that he uses to either diss his "rivals" or to praise up his buddys and co. He's done a fine job on the music front, and he is one of the most active on the boards, hope my vote can help him somewhat.

The surprising 1 seed had proven worthy of the spot, but just wasn't able to stand up to the Cara Crew to pull out another victory. Cara can attribute this victory to a strong showing in North America and chat, as well as being able to actually win Goldeneye, one of Patrik's strongholds. Patrik was able to take the Euro vote as well as the old school vote, but most of the newer voters seemed to favor Cara. Cara was also able to convincingly win PD, which helped in winning in this very close match.

Someone: Never really jumped on the DK bandwagon which started up last year. Last I checked, this whole place is based on Goldeneye. So I could never vote for a guy who doesn't play it and seems to have little interest in it (can't remember a time he's posted in that forum), and just showed up out of nowhere as vote collector last year and got a bunch of chatroom fans by spending all his time in there. Axel Z has instead spent his year climbing up into the top 15 of the GE ranks. That is much more worthy of a vote in my eyes.

Someone: While David K will undoubtedly spam me with his iconic angry red lobsters after he founds out I didn't vote for him today, I can't back away from voting Axel as he was such a gracious host for the Swedish meeting last year. For that he deserves my deepest gratitude, along with this simple but hopefully meaningful vote.

DK started out this match very strongly thanks to first voters and early North American chatters. DK led by as many as 11 before Axel started cutting into his lead. DK managed to convincingly win North America, chat, and PD. Axel managed to win in GE and Europe, but unfortunately for him DK kept things too close in Europe. Despite the fact DK seemed to do so well in all categories, this was still a very close match that Axel was just on the wrong side of.

Someone: Both great guys, but octo's got my vote. I can't go without mentioning Igloo's wiki page. If there were an official eighth wonder of the world - that would be it! Srsly.

Someone: Illu is my hero, honestly. Any time I see a post from him I get excited. The original Aztec king, Mr. Dam 1:17...Ilari Pekkala is freakin' AWESOME!

A very interesting match between two Eliters who draw from two completely different voting blocks. Octo, coming in as the contest favorite, draws well from the old school and chatters. Illu on the other hand draws a bit better from the new school and GE voters. A North American versus a European. Illu was actually able to take the old school quite easily, as well as the newest school of voters. Octo won in the middle school, as well as the North American vote. Ilari took Europe with ease, and also was backed strongly by the GE vote. PD and GC basically split, and octo won in chat. The big decider in this match was really how close Illu kept things in North America, and it proves that he has potential to win this whole contest. Illu has been drawing well from all major categories so far in this contest, and it is quite scarey!

Someone: This is hard... Jimbo is a pretty nice guy, really, but I have talked to Luke ever since I joined and he is one of my favorite people from The Elite. His runs are always fun to watch, and he has awesome taste in music as well as movies and I think we share a similar artistic bond. Therefor, I have to vote for Luke... Sorry Jimbob =/

Someone: Today's line is Jimbo with 65% of the votes. Coincidently, 65% of the total weight of the remaining contestants belongs to Jimbo as well. To lighten up the load, I have decided to pull my straw to the stack and vote for Luke. May the force be with you!

In a bit of a blowout, Jimbo really showed what happens in SFF matches. Luke generally draws his votes from GE and NA, which happen to be Jimbo's biggest vote getters. As a result, this match was a bit of a blowout, although not entirely because outside of the two categories the two are strong in, everywhere else basically split. Because of this, Luke was able to at least keep things respectable.

Someone: He has a nicer ass than Liz.

Someone: No doubt QB will get votes for being so active over the past few years (props for that!), but today I've sided with wiff - who is a prime reason I am still interested in improving GE times and being involved in the-elite.

A big win for QB in this match. QB has always been a strong contest presence, however, so has wiff. QB managed to knock wiff out of all major categories, including GE, which shows that he is another contender for this year`s championship. Still has a long way to go, but after knocking out a guy like wiff with relative ease, it wouldn`t be at all surprising if he managed to go all the way this year.

Someone: Shep is one of my favorite eliters, and I find it very very hard to vote against him. However, I feel indebted to Come since he treated me to dinner and a show. So I shall continue to support Come in this contest.

Someone: I'm seeing Shep as a strong favourite if he beats Come, not quite sure some people this year have gained status while others have dwindled. Yet despite this trend, Id prefer Shep as he is less of an ass and more fun.

In a bit of an upset, Come was able to take down Shep, who looked stronger than any other Eliter in the contest in the early rounds. After Shep pulled off the two biggest wins of the contest, as well as easily taking down the popular one seed OD, looked to be a favorite to advance into the elite 8. Come, however, had other plans, and was able to pull off a single vote victory on the last vote of this instant classic. FV was basically split in this match, and after that Come really dominated thanks to the early morning chatters. Come managed to lead by as many as 10 in this match before the Euro train started rolling through, all full of Shep fans. Shep was able to take 13 out of the next 16 votes to knot the match up at the 36th vote. The match was tied 6 more times after that point, with neither being able to rally more than two consecutive votes for the rest of the match. Come, however, was able to get the final two votes of the day, giving him a one vote victory. Come won NA, chat, and OS, while Shep was able to take Euro, GE, and NS. A very close match, and a great one at that!

Someone: Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Hugo... *awkward pause as I vote for Infil* Happy birthday to you!

Someone: Infil's a nasty piece of work. A dirty, low-down, no-good, out-and-out scoundrel. I wouldn't piss on the guy's face if he were on fire, but I will give him my vote today. You just don't cross a man like that.

With octo now out of the contest, Infil is the standing favorite to win according to the predictions made before the contest started. That`s not to say it will happen, because he will have a few tests, Hugo being one of them. Cara managed to do very well in this match, holding it within a couple votes. Without a doubt the deciding factor in this match was North America, who sided with Infil 23-8, a very hard margin to overcome. Cara was able to take the Euro vote, and had a good showing in the new school, especially the newest class. Infil`s presence in chat and PD, however, cut into Hugo`s fanbase a little to much, and Infil was able to pull out a victory.

Someone: Both great dudes... One shares my satirical sense of humor and the other my crazy psychotic side but I have to side with my GE partner in crime Illu. Good luck to both.

Someone: HELP! Someone needs to stop this racist murdering madman. Yes, I'm talking about DK, who specializes in killing off Swedes. First he took out Henning with a headshot and then he gutted Axel Z with his army knife. Even as I type this, he's working on a vicious scheme to make Illu suffer in the most painful way that's possible. Rumors are saying that he will force Illu to be sat upon by... Jimbo! I'm making a feeble attempt to stop this evil spiral today, by voting Illu.

After taking down two Swedes in the past two round, DK`s rampage was stopped by the most popular Swede of them all, Illu. Illu, on the other hand, keeps up his dominance against chatters, which makes it look like an easy lock into the finals after this match (QB shouldn`t draw any better than octo, and Jimbo will be hurt by SFF).  Really surprising, though, how easily Illu was able to win this match. Ilari actually managed to take the North American vote, which basically meant the match right there. Illu also dominated in Europe and Goldeneye, and also pulled out wins in the old, middle, and new schools. DK`s only salvation was winning the chat vote, and that was only by a narrow margin. Illu looks very tough to beat, and should be a lock for the finals, but you never know, and that`s why we play these matches!

I would also like to make an announcement. There will be an episode of the DK and Comet Show recorded immediately after the results of the finals, which will be Wednesday at midnight EST. This show will consist of several people in a total free for all discussing the contest. The reason I am posting this is because anyone who wants to be in this show can be. All they have to do is be in chat when we begin (or even during recording for that matter, and you can be added in). The only requirement is to have Skype downloaded. So just after the results of the finals, the most epic show of them all!

The best part about not being in this final is that I avoid what would have been an inevitable third straight loss, this time at the hands of Infil! GL to both!

Someone: Let's stop with our little game. We all like Jimbp and his two losses to Dirk Olsen along with other contest misadventures were just us razzing Jumbo Jim. Last year it was Wouter; in 07 it was Boss. Jimbo was 3rd behind them in Goldeneye's glory days. QB is a really cool guy but this is Jimbo's year.

Someone: QB seems to get to the late stages of a summer contest, but runs out of steam. Yet I like his quiet personality, a stark contrast to big gob Jimbo, who prides himself on being the best at everything....even when he isn't. QB comes up with great ideas, he's kinda the brains behind many Elite projects, Jimbo is the stomach, and that produces shit, and I don't vote for that. QB for me please.

Someone: I've been creating a pearl of great worth inside my VayJay for weeks now. That pearl has just finished being created, and when inspected, it had the word "INFIL" etched into the surface. This guy's everywhere! From SF to Smash to PD to IIDX to RB, he's got it all covered, and then some! If this guy's not the real deal, then who is? We'll finish it off with a cheer, guys! "Infil, Infil, he's our man, if he can't win this, no one can! Goooooooo Infil!!!!!"

Someone: I don't think this matchup will be as close as everyone is anticipating. Infil is an old school favorite and is and avid chatter. Come is as well, but I feel as though the anti votes are really going to hurt him here. However, his recent contributions to the elite will not be overlooked by those who are still loyal to him.

Someone: Illu is a heck of a guy (and almost certainly going to win this match). But today, I have to show some love for my main man QB, because... well, let's just say that, like any rational person, I value having all my teeth.

Someone: Shockingly enough, I'm voting for QB today. The main reason is that he just is that damn cool, funny and likeable while Illu matches two out of three of those criterias. AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!

Someone: Quite boringly, I cast my quintessential ballot for my quirky buddy, Josh Lay.

Someone: Wow, what a pair of opposites! QB is a lonely bachelor who makes his living from betting on everything you can imagine, including how many sausages Jimbo and his mor can take before collapsing (two different situations here, naturally). Meanwhile, Come is a caring husband who is currently making a fortune by working in a glamorous supermarket, which is honestly not too shabby. Also I heard he gets a 50% cut on the hot dogs they serve inside the supermarket, which should suit him well being a cheap bastard and all. I BET QB will win, thanks to this vote!

Someone: Infil or Illu? Inevitably, I must investigate this imperative inquiry immediately. Illu has impressed incredibly by initiating, inciting interest in, and immersing himself as an incomparable influence on the imbroglio identified as Dark LTK. Inversely, Infil is inactive in the Elite's identifying games. However, it is inadvisable to ignore his industrious improvements in the initial interval of PD. Both are impeccable, indefatigable, and insurmountable individuals, and to impugn either is insulting, immature, and ignoble. Irrespective, indecision in this intricate interrogatory issue is inexcusable, so I must inform you that Infil's immutably intellectual input to chat has inspired me to invest my infinite insistence in my illustrious idol, Infil!

Someone: It's funny how people (like our current GE champion) always claim that the ones who put the most into the community don't have success in the summer contest, yet the elite 8 in this year's contest proves exactly otherwise. For this championship match-up we have perhaps the most successful eliter active in the games which keep us together and their forums to not yet win a contest against arguably the most all-round chatter in terms of humor, intelligence and elite contributions. As a Canadian GEer, this decision is evermore difficult for me to make. I've spent countless joyful hours in the elite chatroom with Infil, but there is a special bond I have with Illu when it was him and I charging up the GE ranks making Bosshardt ever so nervous. Illu was once a psychotic crazy man who could do nothing more than balance on a beam for a few hundred yards and play GE like none other, but now I have seen him grow into a person who is in control of his life. I love Infil with all my heart, but I know that Illu deserves the 2009 Elite Summer Contest Championship more. Pain is temporary, glory is eternal, and those eons of pain suffered by Illu on the way to the top will disappear as he basks in the glory of this championship.

Thanks a lot to everyone who voted for me! You'll hear me talk a bit about the results in the podcast which will find its way online soon, but I have a lot of respect for Illu (I have a lot of respect for everyone I faced in the contest this year, actually) and was glad the championship match was as exciting as advertised. I was prepared to lose the final, so I'm still a little shocked I pulled it out. I do a bit more than just tell jokes in chat (KotHBot/KotH host for example), but I know a lot of people do a lot of great things for the community so I'm glad to have squeaked through this year's great field.

For some of the people who still don't know much about me, maybe you'll get a chance to meet me at Virginia this year.

Final bracket preds Top 10:

1. Jim Barrett - 110
2. Ngamer - 108
3. octo - 107
4. Fal - 106
5. Durk - 104
5. SZ - 104
7. wheat - 98
7. Bozon - 98
9. PYL - 97
10. Bully - 96

Infil winning shook up the standings quite a bit, as wheat fell all the way to 7th, and Jimbo ascended to the top! QB finishes LAST with 25.

If you didn't bother to look, QB only filled out the first round and got 25/32 correct.  This is a pretty good score for the "Reluctant" bracket he created.
