This week I figure we'd change the discussion a bit.  What in your opinion is the best improvement to any invention since the 1880s?

The internet was not an improvement to an invention. It was an invention itself.

In that case pretty much every invention is based on nothing else.

Ya what exactly are you looking for here? It seems like an excuse to write a bunch of random inventions no one really knows or cares about simply because. I suppose the automobile has been improved from horse and buggy? Really who gives a shit what was around since the 1880's when technology and mostly everything that matters now came to be after the first world war.

Time was untied when set.

Was peanut butter around in the 1880s?

http://www.ehow.com/about_4618672_who-invented-apple-peeler.html

I happened to flip through to Woody Allens, A Midsummer Nights Sex Comedy. It's about a wacky inventor and his wife who invite two other couples for a weekend party at a romantic summer house in the 1900s countryside. I only stayed tuned for about two minutes to try and see a tit, but naturally all i saw was an old fashioned APPLE PEELER that made me think of this ridiculous topic. you win this round goosey.
