Swedish GE championships
« on: June 16, 2009, 04:58:00 am »
Sorry for being so late with this but I am working on getting something together before the end of the month (could be later, depending on when it suits people)

Place: Borås, Sweden

Participants so far:

Miikka (my bro) decent player - good player (New to tournament)
Dantte (childhood friend) good player - very good player (New to tournament)
Jonas (a friend of Dantte who plays GE too but I don't know him yet, he could fix a place for us to be in possibly) skill unknown (New to tournament)
Henning (only one in the-elite I've spoken more seriously about this yet) good player - very good player (these are ratings go by what I believe about these players multi skills)
Illu (yeah me ofcourse, I haven't played much GE now, time to start practise, probably most need that a little before tournament) decent player - awesome player

Would like to hear from:

Axel Zakrisson
Jim Söderlund
Henrik Norgren (Not participated before)
Tim Greneby (Not participated before)
Eise Smith (New Swede, reqruited from the Netherlands)
More people are welcome, can't think of more now.

And our champ ofcourse, would really like to hear from him, where is he? Patrik is probably busy (going to USA and all) but I hope it would be possible for him to come even though he lives far away from Borås.

I'll keep updating, discuss.

The end of this month as in June? Like next weekend might be too drastic for me to make it.

These might be the only possible dates for me is probably Week 27 (last week of June, although not a very good weekend for me), Week 31 (last week of July) or Week 32 (first week of August). As for getting my ass down to Borås might not be that hard. It's a long ride but I don't mind. If we plan to do this any week I'm available I have like almost three months with a full schedule since stuff is happening every weekend. How stressful!

I prefer some weekend cause it seems hard for me to take any days off from work. You forgot about Axel Andersson, imo a great multi player.

Also this might be a good warmup for the VA meeting. Haven't played like any multi this year except for a few matches of PD and stuff with Max.

Sounds like last week of July would suit you best if you don't wanna do this all too close to the Virginia meet.

So we could start week 31 on friday 31st july and end it on august 2nd on sunday: So July 31-August 2

We could kick off some rounds with those who can arrive on friday, but on saturday we would need to get to semis at least, final on sunday, although I would prefer to have the final on saturday evening already if you need to get home on sunday again.

So there wouldn't be much time to do else but play multi, maybe some between rounds, but I think all tvs could be busy for multi (multi practise) if we get enough people and if we make a good fair setup for the tournament.

I want to keep the setup simple though so I think I could go with random games between players 1 vs 1 LTK pistols (2 losses and you get kicked out) until we have a winner.

I'll fix a place where you can stay and sleep for free (my moms place or friends if I don't find anything else) but I'd go with everyone pays for food, though I'd try to get something that you can get cheap or for free.

Yeah I forgot about Ax sorry good player-very good player

16 june - found that AxZ sounds positive to this also

16 june - Unknown player Jonas can't participate, also he couldn't help me with a place to stay at so as for now it looks like it's gonna be at my mors place

17 june - When I pick you up you will know me by a black t-shirt that has Hillary Clintons face on it hair will be about as short as on my summer contest pic, phone number you get later

17 june - Bought Guitar Hero 3 for PS2 for 200kr (used)

18 june - Marc vinyl dude from Denmark enters tournament

19 june - made list of things that will be for sale, I'll keep updating it

19 june - got hold of very good icecream for a very good price

Awesome...this is like the Europeans meeting getting ready for VA, while the Americans (myself, Woll, Matis, Jimbo, and possibly NGamer) are meeting 7/3 - 7/5! (at my apartment...so absolutely everything will be recorded). Way to betray your country Trent!

This sounds like some really nice stuff. July 31 - august 2 would be super I think! This tournament might get even harder then the VA meeting to win. I've heard this Dantte is really good actually in multiplayer. Of course my finalist arrow buddy Trent, Illu and Eise also. Some wicked action right here!

GE multi practice

I'll keep updating this too

june 16

Illu vs Miikka 8-10_____I was talking too much and I usually play better on tournaments and yes, I am making excuses
Dantte vs Miikka 10-6
Dantte vs Illu 6-10_____that's more like it
Miikka vs Illu 10-9_____wtf is going on!?!?!
Dantte vs Miikka 10-7
Dantte vs Illu 10-8_____ohhh crap
Miikka vs Illu 9-10_____lol

june 17

Dantte vs Illu 10 - 6

june 19

Miikka vs Illu 8 - 10______had to keep asking my bro all day before he wanted to take one practise game today

june 20

Dantte vs Illu 9-10
Dantte vs Illu 4-10
Illu vs Miikka 10-4
Illu vs Miikka 10-9
Dantte vs Miikka 5-10
Dantte vs Miikka 10-8
Dantte vs Illu 6-10
Dantte vs Illu 5-10

We played some more too but don't remember scores, Dantte won some game against Miikka but Miikka kept winning most then Miikka won a 10-9 against me and Dantte won 10-0 against me on facility somehow and I really thought I was starting to get a hang of this and I told Dantte that he's really not good enough to win the tournament and I won those 5-10 and 6-10s against him and out of nowhere he does 10-0 against me on facility.

It's true as hell tho. I play too damn unfocused and aggressive outside of tournaments, making me lose mostly. I remember my and Illus match in at last VA meeting was the most intense (boring for others) and sick match ever. You could tell that we both wanted to be in the finals, making every death feel like you actually got hit in real life. When I think about it I felt unstoppable after that match, like I couldn't lose anymore if I was focused enough. I'll just do yoga and haum before any "important" match.

I'll be there!

^YEAH^

I'm trying to make all food free for everyone (if there won't be too many people, 5-7max possibly, bro and closest friends from Borås will eat at home) friday 2 meals or so (everyone probably won't be here in the morning but I'd prefer everyone to be here on friday evening at least, saturday is last day you have to show up if you want to participate in the GE tournament) saturday 3 meals (if we eat outside somewhere then everyone pays for themselves) sunday breakfast and possibly some more before you leave. I'm thinking at least those who have to travel over 500km should get food for free, though others too, just help me a bit with stuff and it's ok, someone with a car could help to get people to the tournament from the trainstation for example, if there's gonna be alot of that then I'll ask my mom though or someone else.

I'm also gonna be selling some stuff for nice prices during the tournament, probably mostly gaming stuff but I haven't decided any yet.

LAST DAY TO ENTER TOURNAMENT 1 WEEK BEFORE july31

just let me know on some messenger or here on the topic

Noted participants so far:

Illu (me)
Dantte
Miikka
Henning
Eise
Patrik
AxZ
Marc
Trent

let me know if I forgot someone

6 people to feed is no prob 1 more to be first to enter tournament will get free food

Eddie, you are such a hypocritical idiot. I remember when Bryan got 218 and you said "too bad i wont see it till 2012" or something, but do you think Bryan would hold a grudge and refuse to ever meet you if he went to Virginia? I doubt it. I figured, despite the negativity of what I said, you would just get over it like a decent person and we could nevertheless have a good time playing GE. You hold these silly grudges and act like just because I told you how it is, you are going to divorce yourself from ever acknowledging my existence for the rest of your life. Pretty immature and stupid. For example, I post some tutorial vids, and all you do is compliment BRIO's avatar, which is funny because he has had the same avatar ever since he joined, so it was quite clearly an attempt to belittle me. If you want to be this way for the rest of your life simply because I pointed out your ridiculous desire for praise, so be it; I dont want any part in it.

I was only questioning why you wanted to come, if you really think so lowly of me. I think it would be awesome to have you there for GE, despite your personality towards me on here. And it's been several times you've cut me down like that, not just that single quote. I don't see what relevance something random I said about Bryan 2 years ago has to this situation; it was clearly a joke aimed at how often he provided proof and said nothing about what I think of him as a person. Not comparable at all to this. And I never complimented your tutorial vids because when I saw them posted, I was at work, so I didn't even bother to watch them since I obviously can't turn the sound on (and never remember to check old posts when I go on the boards at home). 100% honest, I never complimented Brio's avatar before, because I never noticed the Magnum in the guard's face. So I never found it awesome before.

If you think I have a "ridiculous desire for praise", then fine (although I don't understand why), but you had no reason to point that out.

Anyways, I'm really sorry for butchering this topic. Maybe I should get on AIM more and have these conversations take place there...

It was 1 year ago you posted that towards Bryan, and I remember he was quite ticked off about it as he mentioned it several times and was not happy at all about it. And I think he was perfectly right to get mad about it...even if his speed in providing proof was poor... you really shouldn't have made such an assumption.

So...you think he was right to have been mad about that small comment, but I shouldn't be mad about the things you've said to me?

In any case, I'm sorry if I really pissed him off that much about it.

I think both Clemens and Lovins are nice guys. But Clemens you had no right for accusing Eddie for saying that 2012 thing about Boss' 218. He probably meant it as a joke and sometimes you don't think about that it hurt the other feelings. You send death threats to Michael something about he should be careful with his mails because there might be a bomb there next time or something. obviously that wasn't a joke.

Yeah his name is Marc, it would be good if he could tell us if he has a car or how he's gonna travel.

But you are welcome Trent, I hope to see you in Borås then.

Now I should say there's just one more spot left for those who want to get free food during the tournament.

Free food for:

Henning
Eise
Patrik
AxZ
Marc
Trent

1 spot left, more people can enter tournament but you'll have to pay for food, not much though, probably just 70kr for all 5-7 meals, if we eat pizza or anything outside then everyone pays that for themselves.
All in all there's now 9 players in the tournament when I count myself, Dantte (childhoodfriend) and Miikka (my bro) also.

Well i live right in the middle of Frederikshavn (Jylland, Notheren Denmark) and Copenhagen. The Northeren Denmark is very close to Borås, so the 2 options for me here is to take a train to Frederikshavn (2-3 hours) and then travel straight across the sea to Borås, Or take a train to Copenhagen (Also 2-3 hours) and then a train to Borås. The time it's taken is very likely the same, but i'll go with the cheapest way and i don't know what's cheapest yet so we'll see.

ok, there is a possibility that the class ends earlier on that friday...there is a train that leaves from copenhagen for boras at 1257, but that is the only one that day. i would then leave sunday around 1644. busing is also a possibility.

Yeah I asked Henrik a few days ago and he needed some time to think about it.

A Danish fellow of mine might come aswell . I'm just waiting for an answer if he can make it. He was making a topic on the boards about multiplayer tips a month ago or so.

Just wanted to say thank you again for organizing this meeting Illu. I am really looking forward too it and I think it will be great fun. Just one question though, do we have any tournament rules? Which maps? Which settings? What kind of code of conduct we are using in this games in regards too spawn killing etc etc.

I had some basic guidelines thought out :P.

1# When you kill a player, we should stand on their corpse untill the player has spawned in another location. (too prevent spawn killing)
2# Facility/Caves/Bunker 2/Temple and Egyptian are not good maps to play official matches on, basement can be agued about but that map is pretty balanced.
3# LTK or -10 setting? -10 works well at maps where you have two body armors (Archives, Stack
4# No sight OR auto aim on.
5# no odd job OR Jaws as player
6# Weapon Choice should always be Pistols
Just some things I thought about.

Let me know what you guys think

You can put me out from the "free food" list if more people want to come, Ilari. I mean, Im not even sure if I can go to the meeting yet.
