10 YR ANNIVERSARY

The site has been up for 10 years and there's no anniversary celebration or talk? Weak...

That's pretty cool. I think more than 20 minutes have been taken off the total WR time since then.

Man, when I first stumbled across the world rankings site (then ran by Wes McKinney-I think) I was so excited! I remember how limited my internet usage capabilities were too. Like once every 3 months or so I could even get on! I remember peaking @ 10th place in points way back in the day when Sterling was Champ (1999-2000 era)! I always used to think (seriously) that Sterling and Wes were like Rare (the makers of GE/PD) autobots or something! Thier abilities never seemed real to me back then! Ha! They were just so far ahead of thier time in abilities and skill!

I very much wish someone (probably Wes) could dig up those old times-pages! Those would be so classic to see and the WR times too!

Yes Goldeneye will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart as a game that provided (and still does, but to a lesser extent) many classic hours, days and years of wonderful entertainment for me and a lot of my friends!

GOLDENEYE LIVES!!!!!!!

I have a page buried around my apartment somewhere of old WR times, from mid-1999 I think. I remember I copied them down off some internet source maybe a few years back. I think they were in the neighborhood of:

56    124    215
54    105    108
24     25      42
107  159    159
19     30     127
115   145   250
30     125   135
57     125   200  (no grenade SA or 00)
30     105   145
232   232   232
20     59      59
117   201    201
30     51      100  (no TS)
130   210    245
100   120    145
420   450    530
108   140    300
45     48      50
205   250    400
56     57      58

I'll see if I can find the sheet when I get home.

Uhhh, where is the 10 years coming from? The first PD rankings came up in June of 2000, the-elite.net came up in March of 2002, the first GE ranks came up in '97, Wes was running the official ranks on ga64.com since at least the middle of '98...

But in any case, here are how the records stood in March of 2000 (and they probably hadn't been updated in a few months so I imagine this is close to where they were 10 years ago).

Dam: :55- 1:24- 2:14
Facility: :51- 1:02- 1:04
Runway: :24- :24- :40
Surface 1: 1:07- 1:57- 1:57
Bunker 1: :18- :29- 1:18
Silo: 1:14- 1:25- 1:54
Frigate: :27- 1:14- 1:28
Surface 2: :55- :57- 1:44
Bunker 2: :27- 1:07- 1:25
Statue: 2:29- 2:29- 2:29
Archives: :18- :59- :58
Streets: 1:16- 1:59- 1:59
Depot: :27- :49- :59
Train: 1:22- 1:53- 2:34
Jungle: 1:02- 1:10- 1:20
Control: 4:10- 4:36- 5:00
Caverns: 1:05- 1:45- 3:01
Cradle: :39- :44- :45
Aztec: 2:06- 2:26- 2:49
Egypt: :52- :51- :52

And here's how the rankings looked close to 10 years ago- this is the update from April 2000.

^ HA!! that's an awesome find Jon!!! it seems like my appearance on the rankings was more around 2001-2002. i seem to remember Wouter being on there when i was in the top 10! that's so classic though! was anybody using 1.2 back then or was Eise really the first to reveal that to the Elite?

Wow, the list I had was actually from almost 11 years ago...9/12/1998! I don't remember where I got this list, but here they are:

56/126/215
54/104/108
24/25/41
110/200/159
19/35/129
121/139/252
31/126/138
56/119/159
27/112/138
232/232/232
19/101/101
117/201/201
30/55/103
127/207/248
105/122/134
418/512/548
107/159/448
41/45/47
222/307/432
56/57/58

So I remembered close on a lot of these. I also have initials next to each time of the WR-holder; and it's dominated by SN, SZ, and PW.

I don't know if you guys already know about this, but here's an even older update, as of July 1998: http://www.the-elite.net/GE/WR/1998records.html

Pretty classic page if you ask me

I was hoping this was more about the page and the people who keep this going more then what the records were back then.

To Jon: I thought that "this page anyway" said july 16th 2000.

Anyhow I'll check some of those older lists here in a bit. It's amazing where ya'll have brought the WR's in 10 years though, its sickening to believe some of the WR ya'll have its truly amazing. I dont know if I'll ever personally speed run Goldeneye again, just because its just too time consuming. The 3-4 years I played took ALOT OF TIME. Yeah sure I can go back and acquire better times but just not sure its worth it, because I know I cant compete with the WR's anyway. Ya'll are just too good....I'd rather leave with the presence I have now.

None the less guys great work - to everyone that has put their effort and time into the-elite.net for the last 10 years. You guys have made our dreams come true and have built a unique community. If anyone doubted ever going to VA, it should never even be a thought. Regardless of how you may not get along with someone on the boards, the experience of going to VA is just something online cant give you.

Anyhow long live the elite!

Where was I on July 26, 1998? If you compared my current times to back then, I'd have 5 WR's, 3 untied!
