No, glad I'm not going either. Too many restrictions in that house, wouldn't be able to handle it I think. Obviously I would've liked to meet a lot of people there though.

No, I can't really afford it this year since I haven't got a job yet. However, I will go next year if nothing happens since Patrik told me the plane tickets aren't that expensive after all

To avoid confusion, yes, the meet is technically NEXT week as the first official day is Thursday the 13th. But it was better for octo to run this now, where it can run the whole 7 days leading up to the event.

(Took the bottom option of course.)

Oh, I went into the meeting discussion topic, saw the 6th, and moved on. Guess I should have looked closer, he was just asking what worked for people! I would have ran this next week, then Oh well!

hah they're both the same for me! I "can't" go to the meeting because I live 10k miles away and I can't afford the plane ticket. So, I wish I "could" join the meeting, but unfortunately I can't. Isn't that right?

Unless "can" means like something you will never be able to do, then I'll be missing something here ;(

Goose was trying to instigate. It's like when you say "can I go to the bathroom" you are supposed to ask "may I."

However in this case it is silly, as saying everybody can go is just wrong. Unless you consider having a job, not having the airfare, etc., not reasonable excuses to "can" as I suppose you "could" rob your neighbor for the money, quit your job, flee the country, and make it to the meet?

Yeah that's what I was thinking when goose said it.

"I can't go to the meeting" and "I can't survive without water for 1 year" have different "can" usages then, according to what goose said. Because well, one day it's possible that I'll be able to join it, but I'll never be able to stay without water for 1 year and survive. Hah, whatever
