What causes the keycard guard to be too far away on B2 agent? (The one you encounter after the tape room)

Henrik; is there any definitive evidence that guards are more agressive/have higher accuracy on JAP?

Not that I know of. I have barely used Jap at all though, so it's unclear if any scripts/values differs.

Via this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqVQdj67fGU [Dam 00 TAS] the video info mentions "What's impressive is that he did it without lookdown and with the cinema view, which slow down the framerate, which should give worse times".

Is this saying cinema slows down the framerate, lookdown does or the combination of both? If cinema, is there any data dump of this somewhere?

Well it seems obvious in theory that a wider FOV means more lag since more things get drawn. So really it should be a similar scenario to no-lookdown (except less impact i imagine).

Can anyone calculate the odds of getting 2 Frigate 00 Agent completions and 1 Secret Agent completion within 2 sessions (so let's say about 6-10 hours of play total)? I just want to see Oscar's lucky frenzy defies Ace's Zeroth Law of Frigate (if the odds are a certain % greater than what the mathematical odds should be, consider the run 'drived).

I think maybe this person is aware that we have a rankings page with Frigate videos.

Perhaps they're looking more for an explanation on visual cues and angles instead, Gregor, wouldn't you think?  :nesquik:

I would think that a VIDEO is better suited for VISUAL cues than TEXT :nesquik: What would you even write that is comprehensible and not evident from any video? Look 12.6° down and 37.2° right with respect to the right silver crate edge? (assuming he already knows which pipes to jam between)

I am too lazy to grab a picture from a run, so here is a picture I got from Google Images (it's from the other side, but you get the idea):

You want to approach standing in between these two columns, looking just a little to the right with respect to Bond's initial orientation. Just a little later switch to Phantom or Unarmed while turning more towards the right.

How much is "a little to the right" and "more towards the right" in my description? That's what you can gather from watching videos like this one. The more you practice, the better idea you will get.

Sometimes having both isn't such an issue.  :)

I'm from Australia, and as such I have a PAL console and cart. Is there a significant time difference between NTSC and PAL and is it worth buying an NTSC console and cart, or it is possible (and not disadvantageous) to play non-PAL levels using PAL?

Thanks :)

I'm sure other players can chime in, but PAL is somewhat disadvantaged in the majority of levels (you can go into the System Records tab of the site and look at all the PAL times compared to NTSC and NTSC-J).
Just Assume PAL is a tad worse than NTSC for every level - but is advantaged over NTSC for especially laggy levels, Jungle/Train/Aztec

Gregor Degenhart (https://rankings.the-elite.net/~OHMSS/goldeneye) i believe is the highest ranked PAL-only player, but getting an NTSC cart will be a little better for most times.

Hi everyone,

Pretty new to The-Elite but I've been playing GE for years now. I'm currently struggling with Frigate in Agent and always end up with a failed mission at 0:27 because of the hostages not able to escape on time. I've watched several videos and from my understanding I am not doing anything different. Is there something I am missing in the process ? Do you guys have any tips or is this just a kind of lottery ?

Thanks!

Darius

Alright bro thanks. Do you think it would make sense to use the D-Pad instead of the C buttons? Or is it just one of those things that comfortability (i.e. what i feel comfortable with) is more important?

The D Pad is kind of squishy and and makes it harder to strafe change accurately, but SpectreXS and xxomg both use it instead of the C-buttons - at the end of the day do what's comfortable (just don't get turned off at the beginning because 1.2 will feel awkward for a bit)

How do you properly get the glass door open on Aztec agent?

There have only been two openings in five and half hours, so clearly I'm doing something wrong. I'm using the older, more traditional strat; not Henrik's faster method. Thanks.

Just something that has been bugging me for a while:

On Caverns (will use Agent for this example), what influences if the drone back you in the hall?

I've kept hearing the drone works on cycles, so on even pace you'll always get hit/not hit etc. But... How is this? If the drone cycles are started at level start, can't we just wait certain amounts of cinema to knock the drone to a different cycle - opening up a 100 pace not getting back for example.

Is the drone cycle begun when you enter a certain room and load them etc, meaning a boost between the 'ceiling drone' and 'drone hallway' is enough to offset the cycle.

Or is it just: when character gains control of bond, begin drone cycle.

A quick look at the drone object data revealed that it references the global level timer, meaning it starts when the cinema starts (since guards/objects are active during cinemas too, they have to use that timer and not the mission timer). So yes, watching less/more cinema should work.

As to how the time is actually used and what the purpose is, I'm not sure. Would need a more in-depth look at some point to figure that out.

since the watch laser doesn't count as shots fired, the next priority to take over for weapon of choice seems to be whatever you ended the level with.

Can you pick up objects through walls if the distance between bond and object is small enough?
Example: if it were possible to grab the plane ignition key through the wall in runway (if it had a chance of getting there)

Pardon the grammar. I just got off an overnight and I'm super fried.

I experimented with that many years ago and it doesn't seem to work. The game probably requires that Bond is in the same room as the object to pick it up.

(Aztec glass room actually occupies the same space as the body armor roughly, but you can't pick up the dat/BA from the wrong side)

Hi guys, I have 2 simple questions:

1. How fast can you move while crouching?
2. If you crouch, can you go through Depot's final gate earlier than if you were standing?

Despite playing this game a ton when I was a kid, I just didn't use crouch much, nor did I know how to move as fast as possible, so I have no idea about how fast crouch movement is.

I'm sure you guys already got what I'm trying to think about here. Since I didn't see any videos that used crouching on Goose's speedlore on Depot, I figured that it was because people had tried it before. But I created an account here just to as this question and make sure. You never know, I've found strats on games I don't play competitively before, so I might as well ask you guys instead of assuming stuff.

Since I didn't see any videos that used crouching on Goose's speedlore on Depot, I figured that it was because people had tried it before.

I guess you didn't read the part where I acknowledge that I'm 99% certain that what I said is totally known.

Also, people have been running Sonic 2 since even before GE, yet I had an idea that no one had before despite not being a runner of that game myself, so yeah, not going to ever keep ideas to myself ever again if I don't find evidence against it.
