As a former 1.1 player, 1.2 does have some advantages:
-Since you don't need the stick to travel, accelerating is very slightly faster, and you can keep full speed better, I always felt you couldn't do a full turn as well as full forward with 1.1 unless you CC. Personally I hated CCing but I still confirmed to myself it was faster when trying it, so I opted to switch to 1.2.
-Looking up and down is also much better, there's only one speed on 1.1 and it isn't as fast. Given how important lookdown and small adjustments to view can be, this is a big one.
-Less noisy. But you lose out on the ASMR of the stick bashing into the case constantly.
-I was watching Irie's stream a few months ago and he made a good point: you will wear your stick out more slowly with 1.2 since you're mostly making smaller and less violent movements depending on the level. Plus your thumb is always weighing down the stick, grinding the bowl; this is the quickest way to get a loose stick. Some levels force you to do this a bit even with 1.2, but it makes open levels like Streets way easier on it. With 1.1 you'd need to lean on the stick the whole time or you'd lose speed in spots, but with 1.2 or 2.x the whole level is comparatively light on the stick.
Given that there's no ideal replacement stick out there for this game, this is a fair point. It may be a good idea to lubricate the bowl to slow this process, I used graphite and there wasn't any white powder after maybe 200ish hours of play.
It's an adjustment at first but there are certain levels you can play with it to learn. Facility isn't really one of them because it's so technical, it's actually the level I was playing when I switched and took me a long time (month) to be able to play it again. I'd suggest going for some of the more open levels to build up better OCB with it, or a shorter level without strafe changes since you'll make fewer mistakes with the new style. CCing would probably be a fair adjustment too, I tried it for a short while and was faster, but I kept getting caught up at the console because I couldn't back out and kept making mistakes with my timing throughout. Obviously that made it hard to PB until I got used to 1.2 but the change was worth it, even though I still suck at Facility. It's a hard level.
