... at driving a golf ball a long, long way.
Last night my buddy, who is the head women's golf coach at Cal State Long Beach invited me to the VIP grand opening party of a new GolfSmith Extreme store about 5 min from my work. Jerry Rice was there for some reason. Apparently, Jerry Rice is a pretty good golfer (according to him he is a +1 handicap). In this store they have these simulation bays with a launch monitor installed and a giant projection screen that you can hit balls into. They had a challenge to see if anyone could outdrive Jerry who put up a long drive of 275 yards.
For those of you who are not aware, I compete in amateur long drive competitions. When it came to be my turn, I took a few practice swings to loosen up and apparently I caught Jerry's attention by how hard I was swinging. So he stood up, came over and stood just inches away staring me down, apparently trying to intimidate me (albeit in good fun). I then proceeded to put up a drive of 296 yards. After that he came up and chest-bumped me (EPIC!).
After the competition was over, I went back into the bay and took some more swings and after getting loose I ended up averaging about 330 yards with a best of 355 yards. For outdriving him I was given a autographed football and a set of 2 new Nike wedges.
Anyway, just thought it was a pretty cool and random story. Here are a few pics...

In b4 cool story bro.
