Did some online test, and I couldn't figure this one out.

75 99 87 90 93 75 ?

Anyone got an idea?

Yeah I spent a good hour thinking about this after lunch, then I got hit with a ton of work and had to let it go. Damn good question, I still can't find a definite pattern. Might not be mathematical at all though, the numbers could stand for something else.

This shouldn't be complicated as to difficult mathematical patterns. It was a question for a test I had to do for a certain job. I had approx. 30 seconds for this. Too bad I haven't written down the multiple choice answers.. =\

Oh, well if it wasn't meant to be difficult then maybe it was just 99? That seemed too obvious to even mention before.

i agree with goose, i think it's 96

75 99 87 90 93 75 ?
87-75 = 12
93-87 = 6
?- 93 = 3
?=96

imho

That works, but there are a number of ways you can spin those numbers for algebraic patterns like that and find different answers. Solutions to a number sequence are supposed to be "the most obvious" solution.

Besides, you're completely ignoring 3 numbers (99, 90, the second 75) in your logic, when all numbers should play a part.

In any case, I would like to emphasize that most (if not all, can't remember) number sequences in that test had only 4 numbers. So there must be something "special" with this one. I think my father found some solution in the differences of the differences of the differences. Not sure, but it all seems too farfetched if you ask me. Once again, shame I didn't write down the multiple choice answers, but alas.
