You're not funny Wiff. That style of posting got old, immature and lame, seven years ago.

Plus it's just retarded.  Horny Dudes = whom?  Vikings wear horns, but Cowboys have been notoriously been in many pornographic films and are known for their sexual prowess.  Mind clearing that up?

Also, neither Jets or Chargers are birds... pick one.

You're really pissing me off right now.

Channeling wiff here with my picks, while going for a cohesive poem:

Ship burning
AKA deadly sin
Shoppers, in debt
Nevermore

...

You'll find that cohesion has a very loose definition in the confines, or lack thereof, of poetry.

Whew, yet another weekend bailed out by its final game. How awful is it that we're 8 games into the NFL postseason, in the midst of the "parity era", yet only two games have been worth watching? Your Conference Championship matches will be

AFC Championship 4pm Sunday on CBS
#5. Jets (11-7)
at
#1 Colts (15-2)

NFC Championship 6:30pm Sunday on FOX
#2. Vikings (13-4)
at
#1. Saints (14-3)

Results soon! (For real this time.)

the jets chargers game set football back 7 years. The Jets did about every strategy decision wrong (but the last one). Then the Chargers basically played as if 7 points was going to win the game the whole time lol. Sure defenses were playing well but that was ridic.

Funny how Kaeding's a pro bowler and the Chargers really should cut him (add up the playoff games he's badly cost the chargers in SD--yeah it's most of them lol)

Jets have a solid shot at beating the Colts like the Chargers it's a very similar situation. The Colts aren't going to score 24+ points and they don't have the world best run defense (though that seems to step up historically in their postseason and did shut down the Ravens--but the Jets have a better D than the Ravens do)

Saints Vikings should go about the same as Saints Cardinals.

Feel free to lose $ on this advice since I likely won't even bet (I usually forget to even look lol)

Wild Card Weekend Wrapup

Yikes, what a rough weekend for the Elite! The one favorite we had serious doubts about (Dallas) ended up winning in a blowout, while the one favorite we had real confidence in (Patriots) got their heads handed to them. We were also a touch wrong about the Pack, but let's not dwell on that one!

STANDINGS AFTER WEEK ONE

1. PDO - 3
1. Cyber - 3
1. frantic - 3
4. Ngamer - 2
4. Lark - 2
4. drag - 2
4. Neo - 2
4. QB - 2
4. Jimbo - 2
4. PG - 2
11. Clemens - 1
11. Third - 1
11. Matt - 1
11. Thingy - 1
11. wiff - 1
11. Goose - 1
11. Boss - 1
11. Come - 1
11. Shep - 1
11. Swaff - 1
21. octo - 0
21. Bcks - 0

Not a single perfect prediction, and in fact the average Eliter only called 1.5 games correctly this week! So it was a fine job by PDO, Cyber, and frantic just to put themselves in front with 3 points.

Round Two Weekend Wrapup

Oh gosh- another devastating weekend of playoff action for the Elite! The Pats were a major disappointment for us last week at 17-4, but the Chargers came very close to toppling them with an 18-5 Elite pick meltdown against the Jets. Then we had the Cowboys fail us despite us feeling more confident in them beating the Vikes than we did the Eagles, plus the Cards come up short even though... over 2/3rds of us picked them to beat the NFC's #1 seed, what the heck? Only the Colts saved us from an 0/4 disaster, but even then we only favored them by 5 picks.

WEEK TWO RESULTS

1. Goose - 3
1. Jimbo - 3
1. Clemens - 3
1. Alec - 3
1. PG - 3
6. Shep - 2
6. Come - 2
6. Third - 2
6. Boss - 2
6. Cyber - 2
6. frantic - 2
6. wiff - 2
6. Infil - 2
14. Ngamer - 1
14. QB - 1
14. Matt - 1
14. Youse - 1
14. Neo - 1
14. Lark - 1
14. drag - 1
14. Thingy - 1
22. PDO - 0
22. octo - 0
22. wheat - 0

The Elite overall is now 0 for 46 at putting together a perfect 4/4 prediction- how sad is that? A note of slight congrats to Goose, Jimbo, Clemens, Alec, and PG, who at least managed to go 3/4. A note of major anti-congrats to wheat, who managed to miss the first week of preds, come in late and pick a Super Bowl runnerup who was immediately eliminated, pick a Super Bowl champ who was immediately eliminated, and complete the triple crown by going 0/4. (octo and PDO were also blanked this weekend, but they at least did so with a little bit of class.)

At least we improved slightly on average, boosting to 1.65 correct picks.

STANDINGS AFTER WEEK TWO

1. Jimbo - 8
1. PG - 8
3. Cyber - 7
3. frantic - 7
3. Clemens - 7
3. Goose - 7
7. Alec - 6
8. wiff - 5
8. Boss - 5
8. Come - 5
8. Shep - 5
8. Third - 5
13. Ngamer - 4
13. Lark - 4
13. drag - 4
13. Neo - 4
13. QB - 4
13. Infil - 4
19. PDO - 3
19. Matt - 3
19. Thingy - 3
22. Youse - 2
23. Swaff - 1
24. octo - 0
24. Bcks - 0
24. wheat - 0
24. DK - 0

It's a tight race at the top with Jimbo and PG clinging to an extremely thin lead over a big group just below them, but in reality all eyes are on octo's quest to become the first Eliter in history to complete an 0 for 11 postseason run.

EDIT - Updated with Thingy's 1 correct pick.

Jets (11-7) @ Colts (15-2) 3pm on CBS
* Nationwide: 69% predicting Colts

It's very difficult to root for New York sports teams, but wow, what a perfect run this would be.  The Bengals could have kept them out of the playoffs by taking W17 seriously; instead they didn't care and the Jets thanked them with a drubbing.  The Colts could have kept them out of the playoffs by taking W16 seriously; instead they pulled their starters, gave up on the perfect season, and the Jets are going to thank them them with a... well, a competitive game at least.  The trouble with a strong defense, solid running game, and no pass attack is how you need to rely on the other team to make mistakes in order to win, at least against a playoff-caliber opponent.  The Chargers did it, but ehh, can't imagine Peyton flopping in the clutch at home, despite how much I'd love to see it.

Give me the Colts by less than 10 in a low scoring affair.

Vikings (13-4) @ Saints (14-3) 6:40 on FOX
* Nationwide: 52% predicting Vikes

What the flip, nation?  You're backing Brett Favre, in the playoffs, on the road, traveling across the country to visit a team with one of the best home field advantages in the league?  Yeah, good luck with that.

Saints jump out to a lead, Childress abandons the run, Favre throws 3 picks, retires, then unretires halfway through training camp.  In order words, give me the Saints in the most enjoyable game of the season.

Finally we got to see two entertaining (if not very crisply-played) games in a single weekend.  Better yet, we won't have to sit through two weeks of idolizing Brett Favre talk!  Your 2009 Championship will be

Saints vs Colts

*yawn* what a playoffs, still no teams I'm rooting for winning.

Colts should win pretty easily.  Saints were handed the game by turnovers that they played little part in, missed Vikings opportunities, penalties, and a coinflip.  Colts have actually earned their spot, and have the complete package and discipline not to screw it up.

You don't hold the ball with one hand and space between the ball and your jersey or you'll have fumbling problems.  It wasn't just peterson who did that so it's a coaching issue.  The good news for Vikings fans is that it's fixable--the bad news is that a lot of NFL coaches don't even know that and it's more than possible nobody on the Vikes staff knows.

I don't remember if Favre threw an INT his last pass with the Jets but he did with GB and now Min (which is up there in worst INT's in postseason history when all he had to do was run forward and they'd at least have had a FG attempt)  I can't imagine he'd retire--same as the last few seasons--lasting memory of him three seasons are costing the packers a possible SB trip, costing the Jets a probable playoff berth, and now costing the Vikes a possible SB trip--all with absurd INT's.  Luckily for him only some of us will remember this stuff 5 years after he retires.

Vikings fumbled the game away,  threw the game away,  then got screwed by the refs in OT  (those were some really bad calls--4th down conversion spot I thought even in replay was pretty easy to move back 1/4 a yard or so as well, that PI call was absurd--not only was it not pass interference--that ball was obviously uncatchable, and that pass to meachem was incomplete--he clearly didn't have control of the ball when it was on the ground in one of those replays)

Vikings got what they deserved anyway but that was pretty ugly from a ref standpoint.  (they called one incorrect roughing the passer [that joe buck agreed with lol]--then didn't call an obvious one I guess as a makeup a few plays later [the one where Favre limped off])

His last pass as a Falcon, Packer, Jet, and Viking were all interceptions! Pretty ridiculous statistic there! You can bet Favre was in fear of his life when he decided not to run forward for that extra FG yardage, and as a result, killed his team trying to be a hero again. Welcome to Packerland

The city of New Orleans really could use this victory.
(I would also like to add I'm an avid Patriots fan, so rooting for the Colts would be out of the question.)
Embrace the grind.

This

Destiny is inevitable.  New Orleans beating Farve just showed who destiny has chosen this year, and it is the New Orleans Hurricanes.
