a few questions that I have:
I'm guessing that shooting a certain amount of Skedar after you ride the lift down at the start, enables you to get the lift upto the next part quicker?

No advantage gained if Elvis rides the lift with you? I thought he might get to the map room quicker, but he lags behind and gets there about 1:25-35.

Why does Elvis only rarely appear almost straight away after you've cleaned the map room?

I've managed to get to the end where the 3 Skedar are in 2 mins, but Elvis got wasted. What's a good time to get to the final bit in?

I have tried actually, but it ridiculously hard to do double duck method without landing anywhere first. And even with that i assume it'd take ages to get even a low 6.

I have had good luck getting a :55 bot when I open the bot U-turn room door at around 42 seconds so that is making its way back after the u-turn.

It is just a superstition of mine tho i guess.

Well at this point, getting any lower is really more luck than skill, i just played til i got lower. I also tie myself alot and got 5.53 like 5 times maybe before 5.51, then 5.50, 5.48 etc. .07 is nothing really.

I probably do everything exactly like everyone else.

I do outside but perhaps inside is easier? As long as you hit elevator from maximum height it should be fast enough.

That 47 was awesome taka, nice strat in the BG room, I never thought of doing that. Also, you seem to switch strafe really well, which is tricky to do.

Wow. Nice :47 Indeed. Gonna have to try that trick.

Henrik, try going through the corner. After a few tries you can time it perfectly, and it seems to make it much easier to get over the elevator quicker.
As for PRs...

Deep Sea A 4:01:60 (26th, got caught up on guards perfectly lined up at the door on the way out. Wasted at least 4 seconds >.<)

And i got Duel A 00:03:66 a while ago, but it should have been faster. I wish some of you had seen that run. It looked stupid. As i turned I aimed straight down, and came all the way back up and shot the guy at the edge of the hitbox on his LEFT toe (turning right). I thought i had missed and got a terrible time, and my friend in the room was like WTF. I said it would be funny if that was 3.66, and then it was. Good times, bad....times?

Awesome runs taka!

So seriously, you guys seem to be like 100% accurate with finding the 1 millimeter wide sweet spot in both left and right strafe... Did i miss a lecture on strafing or something? I'm lucky to even find it once in a run and even then it's usually difficult to keep for a longer amount of time. Wasn't it only 2 weeks ago everyone was complaining about how impossible strafing is, and now suddenly noone has a problem anymore?

Strafing is a bitch for me too. Can't seem to get the hang of getting that spot, and I have had many a Villa run gone wrong because I failed at strafing. However, in a couple weeks when that patch is released and Southpaw controls are out, I don't think we will have that problem anymore.
How is your controller modded?

I was joking PSK. Its a trade off, If your right handed, southpaw controls will make strafing easier but you'll have to practice aiming with your left thumb then which will take a while to get good at.

I am ambidextrous for most things, so i should be able to adapt quite well.

Infil asked me to test out the Skedar Jump tonight. I was able to get it to work, using the Devastator (I only got across without an explosion a couple times on the N64). Then I kept playing around on the level a little bit for fun, and

Infiltration A: 1:21 or so
Escape A 2:48 (jon started being dumb and slow at the end)
Escape PA 4:19. Shitty run but somehow like 5th or something. The fast music didn't play for awhile so I basically turned each console on twice wasting at least 10+ sec.
Air Base SA 2:07 - decent rank too if I remember. maybe top 15?
Crash Site 1:51 A and 2:02 or something SA. Had a good PA run going when a guard shot me through the frickin' cliffs at the end when I wasn't even visible yet. argh. wallhacker

Straffing on Villa seems a bit hit or miss after taking out the snipers. I can hit the sweet spot on other levels at the start, but it's gay how it doesn't kick in. Or maybe I'm gay......yeah I think it's that.

And good job on the times folks, a nice bit of friendly rivalry can always improve your times. It's good to be passed, and try and beat the time set. Though Jon has been raping the Area 51 levels lol.

Hey guys, I've been lurking for a bit and figure now/here would be a good a time as any to say hi. I picked up pdx the day it came out since I loved it so much on the N64. I only know a couple of people who play and none of them really do speed runs so I hope joining in with you guys turns out to be fun.

Managed to get some nice runs in on Maian SOS tonight after a few hours of trying that I'm proud of:
A: 1:41.08 (3rd)
SA: 1:58.21 (1st)
PA: 2:35.25 (4th)

Hopefully hanging out here will help me get the tricks down for the other levels.

Attack Ship SA: 3:03:61 (3rd) I managed to get to the lift while it was open, but I opted to finish the last Skedar off cause I figured he'd waste Elvis. A slow last spawning Skedar as well. Would be nice to get under 3 mins on this one.

So i after getting 3.73 over and over i decided to try and shoot lower to save some time and got this when shooting him in the leg. Kinda confused over how to get 3.66? Diffrent strat?

I'm in the same boat Henrik, been wondering how its possible to get it lower. I have achieved many 3.73s and 3.71s but regardless of how fast it seems it never is any better!
