Awesome run. 37 hole without using the box, and i had the door to the corridor before autopsy room opened for the first time ever. Everything else solid. 2:13 seems really good.

Slow hostages. I'm pretty sure I can get a low 0:52 but I hope for an 0:51 as I'm going for it.
I used the strat EndeavorGaming used for his 0:51. Better than N64 strat. Can't believe the strats are so different.

I had to explain my colleagues why the strat was different, they were wondering
So yes, I explained them the Combat Boost timing is way different than the N64 version.

EDIT: I wish that there was a CI A WR vid.
I also want to have very good CI times on Xbox like I have on N64

With all the Carrington Institue, rightstrafe is getting better as I practice it while going for the 2 doors and the elevator. Sometimes I manage to strafe change without losing speed, but it's very hard. Left strafe is easier for me so that's why I'm going left strafe all the way after Firing Range part.

What about the hostages? I thought you only had to save 2 of them and opening a door? Not on Xbox, it's failing somehow so I just rescue 4 of them.
The strat I did:

- Cut the cinema when Carrington says "But you know how it is Joanna".
- Open the first 2 doors and go to the elevator (The other one so go back a bit) Not the usual one on N64, it's slower somehow?
- Use 1 Combat Boost when elevator is up and about to open its doors.
- Save the hostages really fast, one bullet is enough to kill a guard, you are even allowed to hit a hostage somehow if that happens. I got consistent with it after my 0:53
- Run to the other room and save the hostages fast again. 1 will complete.
- Run to the elevator again, that elevator where you came from. After like 1 second of closing the elevator, Combat Boost will wear off.
- Use the other Combat Boost in the elevator and do the rest like normal on N64, Firing Range door will be open most of the time.

This is the strat I did. Is there a faster strat?
My goal is to beat EndeavorGaming's PR of 51.53. Sub 50 should be really nice to have.

I hope there is some better strat for the hostages.
I haven't so much time to find out as I'm playing PD XBLA at work only and have just 30 minutes of playtime.
That's why I also can't make videos unless someone is kind enough to record with my phone.

Yes. My 44 (wr) strat is almost certainly the fastest for this level. Did you test this? (i sent it in the PM a while back?)

You should always use both combat boosts immediately. Because of Carrington's messages, using them later is likely to screw things up and actually make you lose time (this might only apply if you're fast though).

For the hostages, as mentioned in the strat above, i use the N64 strat. So after coming up the first elevator:

Open the door to the other hostage room through the wall (Alternatively, you can open it on the way to the 2nd elevator, which is a bit slower but more consistent). Then rescue the first 2 hostages like normal. If you did this correctly (and opened firing-range door + holo door), the hostage obj can complete while you're going down the 2nd elevator (this is pretty much necessary for wr). It depends almost entirely on firing range hostages, and is pretty rare. If the obj doesn't complete, you'll have to kill the firing range guards yourself.

Note that opening the door through the wall can be tricky, make sure you're actually succeeding this.

Is there a strafing tutorial? Or can you make one, Henrik??

I was a bit earlier at work now, having 45 minutes of Xbox time instead of 30, so I decided to do an Agent Run which failed but I'll post.

Defection: Normal.
Investigation: Normal.
Extraction: Normal.
Villa: Horrible start but the rest was ok.
Chicago: Normal for Bombspy trick.
G5 Building: Most amazing 1st room ever! Didn't even notice I killed the first guard rightaway but still picking up the key fast.
Before Infiltration: Pressed B by accident because I pressed B twice after Leaderboard losing like 10 seconds. Had to choose from the menu :/ The mission itself was ok.
Rescue: Due to the sensivity of the analog sticks I threw the Dragon away and fell so had to go back and pickup another one losing like 10-12 seconds.
Escape: Ok run.
Air Base: Horrible run, missed elevator, door closed before me costing me 3 seconds. I lost speed when strafing like everywhere after the console...
Air Force One: Good run
Crash Site: Failed Minethrow twice. Much harder on the Xbox... Since it was a no-reset run, I went to the area where the mine came and killed the clone from there. Pres was also very slow.
I probably lost like almost 3 minutes on this run...
Pelagic II: Ok run.
Deep Sea: 1:26 Elvis, so slow. Elvis was slow 2nd part aswell... Another 30 seconds lost probably.
Attack Ship: This is where the run failed. Elvis died at the end... Oh well.

Timer on my phone hits 31 mark when I entered the bridge area at the end, and Elvis died.
This run was like 33 minutes pace with good pillar setup.

I think I can do sub 30 minutes if Crash Site doesn't fail for me. Oh well.
I wish I could make a video incase I beat EndeavorGaming's time. But I can't make a video unless a colleage records it for me :/

Tip: The sniper rifle has auto-aim in the xbox version so you can save quite a bit of time by avoiding the zoom. You can also build speed while shooting making it even more useful. I assume you've seen this vid?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foCoAKvHhHU

You also lost alot of time at the buttons since you let go of your speed. If strafe changes are too difficult then it's still better to do a full 180 turn.

Might want to avoid a reload in the end too, it's not really necessary and with the pause strat you lose speed.

You can probably get down to 1:05 easily with those improvements ^^

Wow, I had no clue about the sniper rifle. Awesome run, first time I've seen that video, I think.

The buttons and the lower area of the level in general is a really hard for me to do fast. I'll have to learn doing it the right way.

Can't believe the times that have been set on PDX!

I'm Humma on the PD ranks (spalco on Xbox live) and set most of my times 10 or so years ago. Bought PDX for some nostalgia, found out that it has leaderboards and so obviously tried going for some fast times. I'm probably using archaic strats but I've only just squeaked into the top 50 for each difficulty now. Will play a bit more to see if I can improve anything significantly but the top 25 on each level are so much better than all the rest it's ridiculous!

Anyone else struggling with the basics? Like strafing?? Seems to me that there is the tiniest of sweet spots for strafing that makes you go about 25% faster.

In terms of actual PRs... I think Attack Ship SA is my best time but I get the feeling that is only because Elvis warped to complete the navigation objective for once. MBR times are half-decent too I think; this level seems a lot easier on Xbox than N64 if I remember correctly.

Strafing is indeed very difficult in this game. Took me ages to get good at it and even when i set most of my WRs i never really felt confident when doing a strafe change.

Yeah, strafing is really hard. Right strafe doesn't even work for me for some odd reason. Even the slightest analog stick to the right loses speed already.
And I play the Xbox at work, so I can't try another controller and my sessions are 30 minutes per day only.
My times are left strafe only lol.

I feel I am now decent enough to post my most recent times.

Carrington Villa SA - 1:19.51 Lost 1.5 seconds in basement area. Much time to improve
Carrington Villa PA - 1:39.70 Sub 1:40 was my original goal but after getting this run I feel 1:36 is possible
Skedar Ruins SA - 1:30.73 WR at the time of post. With better strafe and less nervousness 1:29 is possible. Maybe lower?
Skedar Ruins PA - 1:53.20 Crap for a run but moved up to 6th place. Sub 1:45 is definitely possible I think

Maian SOS PA 2:29.01 I need to time to catch the 2nds lift on time. Maybe 2:22ish if I can.
Skedar Ruins PA 1:50.88 Had a slow king fight lost about 3-4 seconds.
G5 Building PA 1:06.65 Can sub minute. Didn't even try to get this when I did.
WAR A 27.35 Got boosted at the end to cause a 1/100ths of a second pb.

Meant to post a few hours ago but I forgot. Just got my Agent RTA WR back. 27:21.21
Had a solid run until Deep Sea. (Minus a bad Escape) Deep Sea, Attack Ship, and Skedar Ruins all cost me about20-25 seconds.
Still very happy with this time and can now move onto other categories.

Maian SOS Perfect Agent is something to grind for. Are you using N64 WR strat? You only mentioned strafing. Are you randomly slowing down even without strafe change?
This level can be done with just left strafe easily. If rights trafe is easier for you without losing speed, then you're going to have a problem throwing the Dragon which requires left strafe.

You can try another controller that works for you like Henrik suggested.

Dude, Dugg, I will tell you right now that bottom floor was filled with the most insane luck I have ever witnessed in my life. Normally when the computer near obj 4 blows up it normally blow up the obj with it. Every time it happened to me. Good run man.

That was a 2:19 or 2:20 pace run. I want to go for lower too, but I'm currently trying to get 201% first, will take a long time for short sessions

Do you also need a certain score on Perfect Agent on a level to get 201%?

I'm currently at 199.50% and I already did all Co-OP, Counter-Op, challenges, Carrington Institute Gadget Training and Holo Training, I already have all leaderboards awards for all levels, and I did most levels without auto aim on Perfect Agent. I think I did every level even. Do you also need to beat them on Agent and Special Agent without auto-aim? What am I missing?

So that's why I didn't do speedruns that much.

SRT the only things you should have left are the no auto aim PA missions. Score has nothing to do with 201% and you can look at my scores on 95% of the missons to see. If after all PA without auto aim and still no 201% then I have no idea because I know for sure I didn't do all difficulties without auto aim. Technically my 201% is a fluke too because I still haven't done challenge 26 but no complaints here.
