The whole point of altruism is selflessness while benefiting others.  A "LOL PREDS" topic isn't about altruism, neither is creating a masterpiece to "share with the world".

Back on topic though.. That was a really cool thing you did, Max. That is 1000 euros spent that you can always look back on and know that it went to good use.  Doing something of this nature has got to make someone feel good, and I don't think it's all that astounding that someone would post that in their Facebook status.  I think that some people are focusing too much on the details that they don't like about the topic rather than acknowledging the quality of the gesture itself.

unfortunately, the majority of charities here in the US  are designed to go into CEO's/whoever's running the thing pockets and not the charity it was designed to (if you look at $ received how much goes into advertising/salaries of people/whatever else (top $ hotels/flights instead of the cheap stuff etc etc)  and how much actually goes into whatever the cause was supposed to be it's usually less than a dime out of every dollar (I've seen less than a penny)=complete waste of $ to even donate).

I just hope that whatever particular one (which I'm hopeful about since I don't know a thing about European charities) that any of you do aren't that way and the majority of that $ will go to the good cause.  You really have to do your research.
