Anyway, some more thoughts because I have about thirty billion at this point.
Backreading this topic now... Plus/Minus is the most overrated statistic in hockey. And everyone should know that. Pronger's Fenwick & Corsi for game 5 still weren't good. But that point was already conceded.
My only regret is that we didn't lose to a team with a true fan base. Just like last season. And the year before. 99% Toews, Kane, Hossa jerseys. One Hull. And one woman wearing Brouwer... I'm guessing wifey.
Also at the game, I made really weird eye contact with Ray Ferraro, twice. They were facing the other direction, doing their wrap up show or whatever as I was leaving. It kind of snuck up on me and caught me by surprise, because I was looking the other direction for a while. Anyway, I was looking to see who was in the show. He turned around and caught me gawking as I walked, and then I walked around this huge pillar/staircase thing, which took about 3-5 seconds to pass. I kept trying to look at their little booth, and I noticed him STILL looking directly at me, having "followed" my pace around the pillar. It was kinda cool. Then he looked away first, booyah!
This whole situation really sucks for my girlfriend. She grew up in Chicago but never cared about the Hawks (who did?) as the Bulls ruled her day (she loved Ron Harper above all others, even MJ). Since living out east she has been a Flyers fan for the past 4 years. Now her family and friends are really giving her a ton of crap even though none of them ever even watched a game until this spring! Ouch. Whereas if she'd never met me, she'd probably be on the Hawks bandwagon right now and enjoying life to the fullest. Sorry, babe!
Finally, this feeling really reminds me a lot of the '09 World Series. Up against a better, but seemingly beatable team. In other words, the upset was there for the taking, but my team fell just a little short.
