Well in a double elimination tournament you do need to get beaten twice to get kicked out but imo it doesn't matter anymore in the finals as long as you just survived to the finals so that's how I'd do if I'd set the rules but I didn't on this tournament so whatever but that's just how I'd like to see it anyway.

And yea who knows about what Clems chanses would be in Virginia really, I do remember you have had some impressive multi vids up before so I was kinda surprised Clem won this, I thought he couldn't do it since you, matis, woll and whoever you met before had so much great practise. I guess I didn't have enough time to look at the vids, just a fast impression was that I've seen you guys do better before but yea I really would have to look at the vids again and it's always hard to decide when not being there and actually facing you guys and perhaps Clem being so much better now made the rest of you look a bit worse

Time was untied when set.

Yeah I agree with Eddie. To say I am not capable of taking out Eise and Patrik is one of the most lol things I've ever read. Seriously no offense but no clue what you were thinking when you posted that. I do admit I have never learned the spawn locations for any level 100%, and I honestly have no clue on a few levels what the order is. But I do that on purpose to keep it more fun and anyway I dont think its much of a disadvantage. Unfortunately I am unable to attend Virginia due to work. Anyway I did get a lot of multi practice though after the Michigan meet last summer. I played online using an emulator for a few months quite some time, then I did a few meets with Koch where we played quite a lot. Keep in mind Koch beat me about as much as anyone at Eddie's so I think he is definitely a big threat in a serious multi tournament.

Yeah I'll be the first to agree with that, cuz I was definitely better in Florida this year. This was definitely the first meet where I didn't improve from the last. Though the reason I was so solid in Florida (Adam too) was it was just one week after Adam visited and we played almost 100 practice matches. Though I shouldn't need dozens of practice matches a week before every tournament to stay in top shape lol.

ANYWAYS...here's my random thoughts on the meet.

It was a far better time than last year, as I had expected. More space, more food, good sleeping arrangements and more activities. I'm glad everybody found Jackson to be such a hit lol. He was basically partying along with us the whole time. Let's see, Woll mentioned a lot of the good random memories, but here are a few more-
-just sitting around for an extra half hour at that crappy restaurant, sharing random stupid hilarious stories around the table
-the waitress literally laughing at Jimbo for half the questions he asked (didn't answer the question, just laughed)
-the 00 Agent speedrun between me, Jimbo and Clemens...worst idea ever.
-locking myself out of my house after going to let my friends in, and having to bang on the door until Clemens came up and let me back in
-Jimbo and I went to play a round of Kart, and Trent wanted to join in but we wouldn't let him, so we could practice 1vs1. Then we didn't play any more Kart the rest of the meet. Damnit, now I feel bad, hope you didn't take that personal Trent! Definitely should've played more Kart.
-playing Smash 64 teams: me and Trent vs. Adam and Greg. They completely destroyed us one match, then Trent switched to Yoshi and we literally did a complete 180 and wrecked them right back.
-hunting knife and shotgun wars with Greg. A shotgun head hit on normal health does NOT kill a man???
-Clemens' improvement in multi DURING the meet. I honestly thought at the beginning, that he was some amount better but was still using some useless strats and didn't expect him to be a problem in the tournament. By the time the tournament came around, I think he figured out what worked and what didn't, and I had to play some of my best GE to take him out in the winner's bracket (watch those 2 matches posted above...fucking intense). Then in the loser's bracket match he had me completely figured out and wrecked the hell out of me (mainly the 2nd match) before I knew what hit me. Congrats again man, and way to shut up a lot of skeptics (including me). I really hope you can make it to more meets in the future just so I can play against you more.
-going to my mom's house to do lifting contests in the basement. What a bunch of losers Doubles ping-pong is always fun as hell though!
-seeing Jimbo PR, 3 times, and Trent twice! There's something about witnessing a PR that's really cool, maybe because I don't remember anybody ever witnessing me get a PR; eliter, girlfriend, brother, nobody.
-Jimbo's half-ass bench press reps
- 20-0 team GE shutout with Adam against 2 of my noob friends

But yeah such an awesome time and really looking forward to seeing everybody at VA in 6 weeks.

When it comes to spawn points I really never learned those either, I think the idea with waiting for the other player to spawn is to eliminate that advantage all together (preferably imo) Facility is one level where things can still get pretty ugly with someone spawning kinda too close and not getting much of a chanse to pick up a weapon, but I guess as long as that is part of the game it's still part of the game. Overall it's still comes down to skill, I guess keeping all these things in mind is also skill, kind of a experience thing a bit too and knowledge thing to know what you are dealing with and all.

I think it was decided after VA '09 that Facility would be banned for this year, can't really argue with that. Even with stand by body rule it can still get pretty ridiculous.

Seriously? I am going to miss the cool Magnum kills that some of you guys had in previous meets. Can Facility at least be allowed in the early rounds before I get destroyed? I was really hoping to play at least one Facility match for old time's sake, but without it, I doubt that I will enter the GE tourney (not that I had much chance anyway.)

Regarding the Shotgun head shot in your previous post, yeah even if just one of the 5 shells misses, that downgrades it from a kill to just 80% damage of full health. I haven't seen the vids yet, but I assume something like that happened, given how wide the Shotgun shells spread as opposed to the finer spread of the Automatic Shotgun. If it's actually the Auto Shotgun, then 4 shells are more than sufficient for the kill; 3 shells do 90% damage.

Anyway, next month is going to be fun regardless....

Yeah I'm sure it it can be agreed upon with whoever you're playing against. And this was just something Jimbo said way back last year so who knows if it'll even stand.

Edit - Then again we didn't use any type of stand by body rule last year so who knows, Facility might not be worth banning anymore.

As for the shotgun, all shells definitely hit. I went right up to him so they wouldn't miss, and we tried it a few times too. Silver pp7 > shotgun.

Thanks. I'm glad to see Facility may still be an option, even if just in select situations agreed upon by the two players involved.

Agreed on Silver PP7 > Shotgun. Given its Magnum-like properties, I'd imagine it would be one of my favorite multiplayer weapons of choice if I ever get to play GE with a GameShark.

Anyway, I'll have to watch the vid to see if I can figure out what exactly happened with your Shotgun shells. My calculations on the Goldeneye weapon analysis page are exact for all the non-explosives, so you may have triggered a glitch. Of course I am assuming no body armor was picked up and that no other shots previously hit during that particular stock. I am also assuming any GameShark codes involved to allow non-multiplayer weapons are indeed working properly without altering the weapon's statistics.

Sounds like you guys had a blast! (No pun intended of course.)

I'll definitely bring my Gameshark to VA so you can get your fun weapon fix, Wonn. And yeah, the Gameshark generated Hunting Knife, Phantom, and Silver PP7 all agree with your weapon analysis page, so I don't think that it would be changing anything.  I'll play around with Shotgun some more and see if there really is a shell getting away.  I believe it took off literally every bar of health though, I'd think that if a shell missed then it would have taken off slightly less health than that.

I thought it left like a bar and a half? Remember how we were commenting that it appeared like the health was already gone when the hit took place? Nah you probably don't, you were drunk.

This sucks not even being considered a threat anymore, I blame it mostly on the fact that I'm so burned out after a few matches, no more mental stamina I did good in the prelims until I gave one away to Clemens then it all fell apart. Ah well, I'm still dangerous as hell with the trainshots

It flashes a bar and a half initially, but actually takes them down to 0 bars. Just tried all sorts of angles. No way any shells are escaping.

I thought more about the Shotgun situation, and came up with a possible scenario that may have happened. If the shot was low enough on the head, one of the shells could have counted as a body shot instead of a head shot. So if 4 shells hit the head at 20% damage each, and 1 hits the body at 10% damage, you can end up doing 90% damage total. This is why I used DK mode when I originally created the weapon analysis page in 1999, so that head shots were much easier to perform.

If I later watch the video and see that the shot was sufficiently high, then there may be one other theory, but it's a long shot. No pun intended again. ;-)
