Crystalex: the best game you've never played

This game has been absorbing my life. It is a puzzle game which revolves around breaking blocks with a perpetually bouncing ball a la Breakout, only it is much more tactical and - to my mind - much more rewarding. I'd be interested to see how far you guys got through it! I'm up to the third set of challenges on Hard.

I wouldn't say best, but it's quite fun. I'll see how far I can get a little later.

I had a look at it; played through Easy, was quite easy... I'll try Normal tomorrow, it's a cool game, and I hope for more challenging play.

Pillars II is a nightmare, it took me ages to figure out.

The secret is that there are 32 yellow blocks to break the first time around, but only 30 need breaking to access the Invinciball. You have to choose the 2 you leave behind strategically, so the Invinciball lasts long enough to reach the death blocks.

I'll give another hint if you still can't get it.

Aye, I figure out the 30/32 thing about 5 minutes in. Since I've spent about two hours trying all the combinations I can think of.

The only things I can think of that I'm doing wrong are:

A) I'm not getting the power-up correctly. Here's a pic of the two ways I've tried:

B) I'm (obviously) leaving the wrong blocks. I thought I figured it out when I left this one:

But you can't hit it from the top, and hitting it from the bottom means you don't get out of that section fast enough.

Ugh. Oh well, I'll keep trying.

Bleh, nevermind, I got it. Shouldn't have taken me that long. :(

Up to Moonstrike II... looks like a bitch. I'll work on it later.

EDIT: Mkay, up to the final level on hard. I got like... 150 off the required points, but I can't quite remember how, and now I can only get about 500 points off. It's a stupid, stupid level.

DID IT!

10610/10600, I believe.

Have you got the general idea of what to do down and just need refinement, or are you totally stumped?

Zarquon, Rainbow Rumble is tough. If you're stuck on it, the only three possible rooms are

[spoiler space]

yellow, green and dark blue.

I played this game all day, on the 3rd set of hard challenges before I stopped.  No cheating or looking up yet.

Palace of Seven was by far my most annoying level (on hard).  I only completed it in the end by drawing it out on paper and working out mathematically every combination until I got it :evil

Pillars II was annoying a little until it became obvious what had to be done.

Avoid II took me longer than it should have.

Pretty fun game, looking forward to getting onto Insane :D

Stuck on Finesse.
I break the 3 whites (+10, +30) and 2 whites (+10), go through for the last white. Then 2 cyans, and loop around the course 3 times to slow to a minimal and pick off the side cyans one at a time.
Falling a few points short of the requirement... need to make up a few extra bonuses somewhere.

finesse: img244.imageshack.us/my.p...ssewl9.gif

The hardest bit to figure out was the 2 cyan blocks on the left hand side have to be got together... so enter the bottom one from the right hand side and follow through.

Also the 3 cyan blocks on the right hand side at the end need to be got in one follow through, the ball is going slow enough to make this possible and you get the bonus.

Should finish the level with 1310 pts

Cool, thanks.
From Finesse to Monostroke was surprisingly tolerable. Monostroke is kicking my ass. So easy to slip up, and then have to do the whole thing again :(

What are the solutions SamSim mentioned? I could trial-and-error the invisible blocks in Checkerize III for now, but I suspect there might be harder levels in the future with even more invisible/hidden blocks. That's an artificial way to go about making difficulty... :x

I just finished Monotone II, but still need to pass Checkerize to advance.
Edit2: Checkerize was just stupid, but it's done. Lime Labyrith was awesome. Figured out a strat for it right away, but still took an hour to execute. 10630 with 3 blocks left. :)

wow, Lime Labyrinth has me really stuck.

Im going for the northern invinc-block, and going straight to the 2 bonus blocks first... then back for the southern invinc-block and to the room with a black floor.

Gonna take a while :/

You can try to set up a large chain of greens and finish with 2x diamond. I initially break 3 green blocks for my "setup" to make the chain possible. I got 480/400 on the diamonds, which was enough for me.

I reached the Rainbow level yesterday, and kinda stopped. It looks really, really annoying. :(

I'm stuck on Deja Vu (1st set on HARD). :|
The highest I can get on the first part (before the arrows) is 2860. I think it's the max.

Any help would be appreciated. :\

Never mind, I got it. 0]

Nevermind... I was doing both the whites and cyans in the wrong order :)
Here's how to get 2000 on the first group (usually 1950-1980, but I did 1990 and 2000 once each). img299.imageshack.us/img2...fooyo8.jpg
(on the bottom right, hit 3 on the descent, bounce off the floor, and zigzag for the next 3).
I got 15030 for this level.

Here's some more scores. All of these are in the "white ball" mode (not easy/normal/hard/insane, and not the tutorial; the other one):
"1. Rush" 3620
"2. The Chain" 4940 (5k maybe?)
"3. Station 18" 8950
Didn't spend long on these. I've spent more time trying out "5. Nova" a week ago. My score there is 44 thousand.

I used to not be able to play my own music when playing this game - that's why I quit - but I tried it again yesterday and now I can!

I played Monochrome II (third last level in the hard set, I think) and it was pretty tough, but was able to beat the score limit by a lot in the end. The level after that was also a challenge, but I did it, but now I'm at a stupid level called Lime Labyrinth. It's one of those thinking levels, and I'm not in the mood to think much these days... Anyway, very fun game, and I'll try to complete it now.

Jewelizamor: 4260 (1620 on greens, then I go for red on the ascent)

Crimson Trap: 6870 (1260 after white, 2280 after 4x red). Not sure how I got this, cos the reds are a bit random for me (depends if I bounce funny). I don't really have a tactic for the last group of reds.

Pillars: 5310
Jester's Trick: 1450
Refill: 3280
Marblerex: 1340
Bluzz II: don't like this level. It quits you when you beat the required score. I got 3010 and had some blocks left.
Red Shield: 1940

Jey Curve - 2400
Jade Corridor - 3510

Checkerise II - 1210

We should make a ranking page for this game. :b

I started playing this game again one week ago (Rainbow Rumble, which is where I stopped).

Transport took me longer than I should have.

Royal Descent took me about 3 days! That level is just legendary hard!

Now I'm at Bluzz IV, which is the second last level. 97% completed.
