5-starred 3's & 7's on Hard. -41 on TtFaF on Medium with a controller, almost 400,000. Failed same song on Expert 68%, 67%, and 74% of the way through (hardest part of the song by far, octo mentioned failing at 73%).

yeah, 74% you need to hit all those greens in a row before it, and hopefully the 1234 2345 1234 2345 HOPOs. Then during the ridic fast part, you should keep strumming the speed of the greens (16th notes, like how the strumming in the song always is) on red, and flail down to green as much as you can. AKA ignore those top notes.

I've started to enjoy playing Guitar Hero 3 and Mario Kart wii since we have those here at my school, I can't play like too often (others want to play and you need to book it etc) though sometimes I can sit down for a couple hours or three... often sharing the time with others. We have a big screen for it and all to play on, I've started to move on to medium after like a few hours of practise and have done like 6 songs so far, we play with the guitar, I'm not sure if most do?

There's some people who are pretty good at the game here but I have managed a couple first place scores for our school on easy hehe... haven't had time to read this topic yet and I really didn't know much anything about guitar hero until I tried it here at this school like a month ago for the first time. I played Paranoid until I beat the record for this school on it (don't remember score but probably not very impressive though) I played this song just to beat my friends score since he was here at this school last year haha. Otherwise I play like Story of My Life on medium and moved on to play Paranoid on medium aswell, I would like to do Cliffs of Dover on medium soon, it's still a bit hard for me, there's a girl here who had the top score for that one for some time until a guy just recently beat it.

Banjo will be for Xbox 360, maybe I can get them to buy that here once it's released, though I have a friend who has 360 and at least one person has 360 at this school

288K on rock you like a hurricane - easy FC if not for the trill in the outro solo.
463K TTFAF - basically didn't use star power, no whammy etc. Still play about as good as I used to, just a few extra combo breaks because of the HD lag.

my hand hurt like a mofo after playing about 30 mins last night lol but I was better than I thought

(the -3 run 1 mistake 1640 note streak) gonna pwn this song so soon

Octo PLEAAAAAAAASE play again. even though it will annoy me that you will overtake me again... but fuckit you would make me wanna play harder etc... good to hear you are playing again though is sweeet

On another note, i five starred the devil went down to georgia after 2 tries, and i wasn't even REALLY trying, turned out it was within my capabilities all along :-/

but i cant five star "revolution deathsquad" for some reason that is harder than dwdtg to me:-/................last song i need to five star though. wont be long i guess.

sick miss, hard part of the song.

if I play anymore, it'll be pride and joy, RYLAH, etc., nothing that needs much whammy and stuff I could pwn

I might buy GH:WT

Played some GH3 last night on my friend's 360 before a party and...

Cult of Personality - 321k, 99%, first try.

Amazing what can happen after months of no GH3, a controller that doesn't suck ass (like my wii one that pretty much stopped me from playing gh3). I remember the final 2 solos being 98% and 99%, and I think overall was -11. Sucks that I didn't have a path while starting the 2nd solo, but it's okay.

Also played some Devil went down to Georgia because I can't on wii, and got some random 4-star run, but it was fun anyway.

Part of me just wants to buy GH3 for PS2 just so I can play it with a normal controller and see what i'm capable of. And I want to try to 5-star TtFaF.

Thanks for your comment on Utube! ^

Yeah a -11 on cult of personality is insane. I need to try and pick up my skill on that song, I never play it because the first few minutes is so boring for me.

DWDTG is weird. It's renowned for being harder than ttfaf, looks harder... probably IS harder but the solo's are just make more sense to me, it's just that they last 10x longer than any of TTFAF's shit. a four star is 400k+ and a five star is 500k+ (ish) I think i got my five star at like 495k or so after a couple tries. I just dont like playing the song because solely because of the fast strumming parts, It just puts me off the song entirely don't know why.

If you could get GH3 for the ps2 it would be cool, although I still have a feeling you won't want to play it much because I know your true gem of a game is GH2. But if it's just for the sake of five starring every song then why the hell not? It's still gonna be fun. If only you had an Xbox though, It's just so fun with the DLC, and the fact that you can hear people swearing and cussing at you on PFO online. when you start to kick their asses. Makes me lol.

Personally when GHWT comes out, I still think im going to keep going back to GH3. because of all the un-met goals i've set myself. but whatever, I'm not playing much nowadays anyways because of the gilfriend. But when i'm with her i'm ALWAYS thinking of guitar hero, LMFAO!

(drunk talk)

edit: I somehow managed to find another like 100k on a few songs today. Re-fd's go that far using path, did it first try. used the path on suck my kiss but i overstrummed. Used a path for monsters. etc. i climbed into the top 100 on xbox, and top 200 global for gh3 now. so that's kinda cool.

I choked on "Rock and roll all night" thoguh, should have been an FC missed in the easy parts after the solo. I'll get this in like 10 minutes if I put the effort into it.

I got this game 3 days ago and I find it damn hard!
It's my first GH ever and I'm lost. I beat easy but even medium is hard for me, can't beat the final boss atm.

I'm amazed by all your skills and depressed by mine, everyone seems to be crazy good at Guitar Hero, am I the only one who's crap?
I love this game, it's really fun but I want to be better... I   hope I can improve but I doubt I'll ever be able to complete a song in expert.
Remember that noob?
That was me 3 months ago. I kept playing a bit since that time but things have not changed, I'm still a noob.
I didn't play much to GH3 because well... I got it in my MGS4 period and GH3 is lucky I played something else than MGS4.
Anyway as I said, I don't play much but I still play somewhat regularly.

Ok, right now, I've done :
Easy : all 64 songs (39 regular + 25 bonus, I don't have download songs) beaten with 5 stars, last 5 stars was Raining Blood
Medium : all 64 songs beaten, last was TTFAF obviously, 55/64 beaten with 5 stars
Hard : 33/39 done
Expert : 13/39 done

I just beat Knights of Cydonia Hard tonight. Switching from medium to hard sure wasn't easy but I slowly got used to it. First 6 parts weren't too hard to beat, then I came to part 7 (Live in Japan) and that was hell.
The gap was huge, I first thought I could never beat any of these 4 songs.
But Stricken came rather easily. Then I got stuck for days...
Tonight I managed to beat KoC after 4 tries, that actually wasn't too hard, I was never really afraid by this song despite all what I read about it.
After KoC, I tried 3's & 7's and beat it on first try (whereas I kept failing the days before).
So in the end, here's where I am, 3/4 done, only Before I forget left and this one seems terribly hard to me, I'll need a lot of practice to go through I guess...
My ultimate goal really is to beat the game in Hard because I don't think I'll have any chances to beat Expert even if I was playing for years so... I wanna beat hard and go as far as possible on expert.
About expert, beat 6 more songs today + first boss, it's not too insane so far but I don't think I'll be able to beat much more than 15-20 songs in Expert.

That's it! Sorry to break this progamers thread with my noob post but eh! I thought maybe some people could care about it! (Shep, are you still playing?)

No reason to think you'll never do it. I started on medium, too.

I started on Easy

And when I was playin on medium it took me like forever to five star raining blood and ttfaf.

edit : I learned the path for TWIE, and did a really horrible run missed in like 5 places and I still beat my old score :-/ My old path must ave reallllly sucked.

-3 on monsters - 1mistake.. Other various runs on other songs using paths. i climbed up into 87th place on xbox. and 169th global. Heh it's not even hard work anymore.
I can find another 50k on Take this life with an FC so that's what im gonna be doing next. after I drum this part in practice mode.

edit2: rock and roll all night fc

and i got aerosmith back from a friend after not playing it for months. (july) i fc's about ten songs in a couple hours, and got a -5 on joe perry guitar battle, i can fc this with little work. May sound like a stupid goal but I think I can FC the whole aerosmith game, all of the last tier is misses in like 1 place. and the second hardest song to fc is the guitar battle and that is pretty easy imo

Five-starred all songs on Hard! Last song was Knights of Cydonia, squeaked by with a 251,875, which is good for a 2.817 multiplier (got a 2.743 a few days ago). Now to do all the bonus tracks (except F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X., Nothing For Me Here, and Through the Fire and Flames, of course).

TTFAF 512K first run

70K intro (-30) and 80K outro (-20), then no whammy/totally weird SP path etc.

Forgot to look at the %, but take away the lag/whammy, and as usual, we're still looking at what would be a 5*! I'll likely be getting the HD cables to get rid of lag

There was someone talking about doing a guitar hero 3 tournament here at the school, he's probably the best here but he's just started out doing hard (I could probably do some on hard if I tried but still not done everything on medium) I only have limited time to play here.

I'm not sure if he would be too happy if I invited you here Patrik if he's gonna have the tournament

Haha, and yet I'm not good at all compared to the scorehero-junkies. I finished 3rd at the qualifying rounds for the Guitar Hero Swedish Championship the other week in Timrå, and I didn't even know the songs. Need some more GH , I wonder how great I would do if I actually put time into this game.

Before I forget Hard = beaten. Then cliffs of dover and cult of personality beaten on first try.
3 songs left in hard but... The Number of the Beast is too hard atm, last 20% of One are ridic and Raining Blood is ridic. So it'll take me a long more time before I can finish hard mode!

About Expert, I'm up to Part 5 (you call that Tier 5 right?), only one song left there, 23 songs beaten in expert so far (+ first boss) which is already better than what I expected so it's cool.

Oh, and I got my first FC on hard with Closer, then I got another FC with When you were young. Yeah I know, they are very easy songs but I'm still happy I could get 2 FC in Hard.

I had to practice TNotB intro some. Just alt-strum holding down red and hitting and releasing buttons quickly as higher notes come. Switch to green momentarily when necessary, etc. Raining Blood sucks pretty hard; for One, save Star Power for the crazy solo and you should be all right, as long as you can hit the six fast greens that happen over and over.

For Expert...The Metal is very tough. Try slowing it down in practice and getting down the concept of those fast hammer-ons, then speed it up and you should do all right. It also serves as good practice for triples; just ignore the RBO if you need to. Before I Forget is very, very tough after that...

put your index on red - pinky on orange. Try to stay in this position as much as you can, only shifting down to use your index on green when you NEED to. Immediately move back to index on red when logic permits (so don't do index only on R G R G R G over and over, lol). The idea is, your index is better at shifting/sliding than your pinky, so you want red - orange to be "home base."

After a while, it all becomes relative, and you forget about the colors and "shifting." I just slide all over the place.

Noob's new report !
3 last songs in Hard beaten, only lass boss left now (and some bonus songs, TTFAF included obviously)
Expert : up to Part 6, can't beat The Metal and Black Sunshine atm. I hate Tier 6, these 2 songs are boring me but I'd love to beat them in order to try Tier 7's songs, because I like them much more.
I actually beat Knights of Cydonia Expert but that was in Quick Play.

Random playing, did moderately well. About 90% scores on what I usually get, including 488K TTFAF (430K out of solos, loltastic ending) on my only play. Some huge cult solo streaks in practice, and hit the last SP in NFMH which I usually suck at, etc.

Might play TTFAF a few more times today, we'll see.

Congrats on the FC, Comet.

Henrik, that's an odd place to fail . If it's the very ending 2 4 2 5 2 4 2 5 2 4 2 5 "YOU ROCK!" section, the easiest thing I can recommend is:

Hold your index on 2
Strum the 5 and 4, these are 8th notes, so strumming them is just like tapping your feet.

What will help you survive is to try to play really "lightly" that is pick up your pinky or ring right after you strum. So you aren't TRYING to do all the hammer on pulloffs at the end, but you're kinda slapping your fingers on right as you strum. This way, you'll get some of the pulloff 2s, and all of the 4s and 5s. It's a long stretch, but should be enough that you pass.

I'm not sure about the exact percentage, but it might be what jack is talking about, it's like orange or something, then red, green, back to red, then orange etc. Think it's right after the last refrain. Not sure though.

You are probably losing most of your rock meter at the Red snake..... The red snake is that impossible to get SP phrase, I never build up my rock metre or lose it at that part if I hold green, and mash Red as fast as possible while strumming like a madman. It's just about the only thing you can do at that part unless you can FC it via tapping.

I can't think of any hard parts past the 83% mark which I'm sure you know about already, upto the 99% mark which is You rock... I think it starts at like 98%.. You are so fucking close at passing it though, so keep at it, should take you long now, if not you've probably already beat it.

But on second thoughts...... I'm not sure if you are talking about expert?

Yeah, he is. 83% was the farthest I got. I could see the GYO triple...that sucked.

This.  Exact advice I'd give.  You should be able to get through it starting at red... just hit the 16th note greens right before it, and try to get the 1234 2345 1234 2345 right before it by strumming each bottom of the rolls and... rolling up?  Should build you to yellow by the crazy part even if you ended the solo with full red.

696k ttfaf.... I really want that 700k. These runs feel somehwat shoddy aswel, I think i'm capable of 750k.

GH Phenom 1 handed the red snake on stream in like 5 tries.. and 1 handed the ttfaf intro 1st try. I wish that I had been playing years of Piano that's all I can say.

EDIT: I five starred ttfaf for the first time without SP, lol 567668, 93% notes hit. 317 note streak. SO close. lol I am glad to say I can five star any song without SP now though. I need to get that shit on video. If I used SP, that would have been a 700k run i'm sure of it.
