I know there is a general discussion on twitch in General Chat and I agree that thread serves it's place there. But I think we need a thread in GE and probably PD as well. This would be for the purpose of discussing races or other things you saw on stream that you didn't get the opportunity to talk about in the twitch chat.

As well we can use this thread to organize bigger races which we can run through speedrunslive.com

So yeah leave this thread. It's necessary.

Perfect example of this thread's use - I was racing Marc last night in 100% and didn't watch his run until much later. He had the craziest save on Aztec 00A. And if he hasn't seen yet he should watch my Jungle 00A where I had a similar save

So discuss twitch stuff SPECIFICALLY catered to GE here. Anything more broad, or dealing with the community in general, go to the General Chat thread.

Wow, crazy run last night where I could have broken 1:10 but choked Cradle Agent.

Featured this great moment on Aztec 00A where I had 0 bars going into the protocol insert.

That was an intense moment. I think the majority of us thought you were going to die but you did it! Everyone should just put themselves in bad situations and then just say "YOLO" and get through it.
Sad to see you choke on Cradle but the run was still entertaining to watch.

If you do an Agent race I'm in - until then or just down the track when I'm good (

) - my skill level does not suffice.

I won't even finish a 100% - and any other nub (read: new guy) wouldn't either.

Just putting it out there - but having 100% races will not get new people to play - 00A was hard enough to complete - let alone speedrun - but that's just my opinion.

Well we could run agent races simultaneously? I think if SRL had two Goldeneye races going at the same time, one 100% and one Agent, both with a half dozen or more competitors, it could be interesting for a lot of people.

Not to mention the fact that I'm sure Marc and I would be up for an Agent race right after the 100% is done...

SRL rules are usually you don't have to stream, unless you're using an emulator, in which case you have to stream. So if you're just playing on N64 don't even worry about getting twitch set up.

Durk, you're 14 hours ahead. So 7pm EST = 9am your time.

Yeah I guess we should schedule the AGENT run first. Then Marc and I and whoever else can rematch for the 100% run afterwards.

Keep in mind, we want to do this on SRL. So everyone get familiar with the race protocols there.

Basically you want to get an irc client like mirc or mibbit.

Then you go to /server irc.metroid2002.com

Then you /join #speedrunslive

Then someone will make another channel so you will /join #rand0mch4racters or whatever it ends up being

Then I will .setgoal Beat the Game on Agent to set our goal

Then we all set our STREAMS by writing .setstream twitch.tv/yourchannel'sname (only worry about this if you want your stream to show up or you're using emulator... if you're playing n64 this is not necessary)

Then we all hit .enter

Then we all write .ready

Once everyone has said .ready, it counts us down 10 seconds until we start

Once you finish, you write .done in the irc channel

or alternatively if you suck and can't finish you can write .quit to leave the race

Then you get a chance to write a short .comment about your run.

That's it. But read that over, get familiar with this. An agent race with 10+ people on SRL would be really sick. And SRL automates a race viewer where you can see everyone's stream at the same time which makes things very epic.

been practising like hell recently down to 25.32 agent run, have no chance but would be fun.

Jim should be free, his local buddies aren't playing poker tonight and I'm out of town to celebrate opening weekend of rifle season. I am so pumped to get back in the swamp, but Jim will likely be lonely. Get in contact with him, he likely has nothing better to do.

You can click on the race and see everyone's stream there. You NEED to get into irc and type those commands in chat. I will try to get on AIM around 6:20-6:30pm tonight. HiddeNVillsgEoo7. That way I can answer questions about getting this set up.

The more people the better and right now it just seems like it's Marc and I so I really hope you and other people can join in!

A huge 10+ race would be sick it just needs proper organization this time. I guess a major problem is everyone is in different time zones and it can be pretty difficult to setup but I'm down for an agent race regardless of my low skill.

I don't mind some type of weekly race, Friday or maybe Sunday. Not sure what type of RTA because if its 00A or something I would do it but get destroyed. Any time frame like 6:00 PM (PST) would work. I really couldn't do one during Saturday from 6:30 - 8:00 since that is the weekly OoT bingo time.

Tbh, I never did a 60 race, I know what it is, but the route? Is it just: Dam 00A, then SA, then A, repeat for all levels or is there a different faster route than in my head?

Yes Speedruntrainer. You do all 20 levels on all 3 difficulties. Order doesn't matter.

I will do an all 60 race. Any time starting between like 1:30am-3am EST works for me. I think this is like 7:30am-9am for Speedruntrainer and Europe, and like 10:30pm-midnight for Ace. Do my normal hours work for you Ace?

I always thought Pakistan was +3 hours from me.

In the morning doesn't work for me.
In the weekends from 2PM my time works for me, which is 8AM EST.
Midnight my time works for me too in the weekends, but then it doesn't work for Ace

I hope 8 AM EST works.

Goose, you're 9 hours behind me. Your hours are best for me normally on Monday (at like 12:30pm my time, that's 3:30am your time which is probably too late though), Friday (any time after midnight your time) and Sunday (any time after midnight your time). Unfortunately this Friday I have school but Saturday might be off instead. I'm not sure.

Does any morning time for you work?

Streets will be the death of this race

Runway, Surface 1 as well

Jungle will be close to impossible

I'd like to participate but it's just not feasible. The race will take 3-4 hours I think.

I don't think any level in particular with be really hard. For Streets you just need to learn the random guard patterns (will be obvious after a few attempts) and get lucky with rocket sets.

Eise and I quit after 2.5 hours. I did 18/20 levels but just don't have the patience to finish (Control and Aztec, even though they are SUPPOSED to be easy). Illu is still going though and has the last 6 levels left.
