Sorry about the last race. I completely forgot, and when I forget the race never seems to happen. :kappa: Anyway, we're going to be having one this week as well...

Sunday 12th March, 2017 @ 1am ET

category is once again: MOST points in 60 minutes of GoldenEye play!

Remember this race isn't about competition, but rather it's a healthy get-together to have a fun time talking to each other in Discord, etc.

Turnout was unfortunately shit this time. I blame BoTW tbh. Props to Randy for streaming a good run. Anyway this category is still amazing and I will give it some serious attempts in the summer (with mic). I think something insane like 1500 points is possible. Another twist to this category (which Randy came up with) is how long it takes to crack the top 100 from scratch.

dam 118/200 - 6 minutes, +170
fac 44 - 3 minutes, +91
runway sa 23 - 2 minutes, +87
s1 103/150/150 - 10 minutes, +233
silo 103/113/132 - 10 minutes, +237
b2 24/50/104 - 10 minutes, +253
arch 16 - 5 minutes, +100
train 103/128/155 - 10 minutes, +260
jungle 52 - 5 minutes, +83

1514 points, about 1 hour. Add another hour and you could possibly 2500. Top 50 could be doable in < 3 hours.

It's a lot of fun doing this category. I said my goal for this run would be 500+ points, and I got exactly 499 somehow. I enjoyed mapping out the best route that would personally work for me, and it's also interesting to see what levels other people can get easy points in. I'm gonna work my way up, and eventually do a run to see how long it takes me to get top 100 from scratch. Not going to be easy, but a fun challenge I think. It's actually added to my OCB, having to play lots of different levels. Facility 44 wouldn't have happened for me if I wasn't messing around in this category. I highly recommend others try it out, even if it isn't at the "specified race time."

Mates!

I came across an old thread where Wodahs posted a Bingo generator for GE that I hadn't seen before. Here is a sample board that was randomly generated with it. It's pretty neat.

This got me thinking: why not have a Bingo race? I'm down to host one next week if there is interest (probably on a Sunday (Saturday night for Americans)).

If people want to race but aren't interested in playing Bingo we could always try another category like most points in 60 minutes again or the generic any%. But I think some of these objectives (e.g. pick up 23 keycards) which rely more on gamer IQ than OCB would make a good Bingo fair to most people.

RACE RESULTS

1. Ace (22:32)
2. Dusky (forfeit)
2. PJ (forfeit)
2. Alka (forfeit)

I was hoping we would see more players but nevertheless the race was amazing. Thanks to all those who participated, and those who tried their best to join in (Luxury, Wally)! We'll organize another race sometime after MOAM (end of Jan-ish)

I wonder if the low attendance has to do with the time of year. Many people are out of their normal routines due to the current holiday season.

Hopefully the next one gets better attendance, although it seems like Ace will be the favorite to win.
