Going to start making a new tutorial soon (I know I always say this, but holidays are near and I finally have a proper microphone so I'm all set now). Which of the following would most people prefer to see: Dam SA, B2 SA or Control SA/00A?

Responses would be appreciated.

Depot agent roller door perfect leave tut:

Press B + hold Z simultaneously

HARD COUNT (outloud or in head):
Count 1: Slap 1 SFX
Count 2: Half beat filler
Count 3: Slap 2 SFX
Count 4: Half beat filler
Count 5: Slap 3 SFX
Count 6: Half beat filler (TURN AND LEAVE NOW)

So instead of counting 1-2-3 with the 3 slaps, just count to 6 with a filler count after each slap. Not intended to save time but to prevent chokes.

Runway 22 nade timings repost

Quote
- How do I boost myself in Runway A for a 22? I mean, which one will give me the best chances for a 22, the one looking down or throwing several grenades up? (I also don't really know how either of them work  :( )

Looking down forces you to prime the nades for way too long, meaning you can only boost yourself twice that way. That + a boost outside the key hut + maybe a guard boost = only 4 boosts total. (5-7 is a good range for 22).

Looking up strat is simple but requires some knowledge of how to juggle the nades properly. You'll be throwing the nades in groups of 3 and 2. For the 3 nades, the timing is this:

1st nade: Look straight up, prime for maybe half a second (very quick) before throwing.
2nd nade: Immediately after first nade, start priming the second. This one should be thrown after the 1st nade reaches it's apex and starts falling.
3rd nade: Again, start priming immediately. For this nade, you wanna change your angle downwards slightly. (10-20 degrees maybe?). Throw the nade just before the 1st nade explodes (you don't want the 3rd nade to get caught in the explosion).

Now await the (hopefully) 3 boosts and then start working on the next group of 2 nades:

1st nade: Same as before.
2st nade: Same as before, except you wait even longer, until the 1st nade is halfway down.

Note: There's no point in trying for 3 boosts here, because you'll reach the plane before the 3rd nade have a chance to explode.

Check out my video to see it all in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pezDoXbZ_Tw

Quote
- Using 2.2, does it generally take too long to get a 22 when I get good with the strafe lines? (I know this question sounds dumb, but I would rather improve my movement in other level than spend 80 hours going from 23 to 22 this early in my skill)

Not sure what you mean exactly, but 2.2 is definately worth it. It means you need 1 less boost which is a big deal on this level. It's a bit akwards to handle yes, but chances are you'll get 22 faster with it, plus you'll gain 2.2 skills that can be reused on other levels. Also, there's only 1 strafe change on Runway, meaning you can use a rubber band to hold the 2nd controller's analog stick into right strafe. Then before the level starts, you extend the rubber band and hold the stick into left strafe with your thumb. So you start out in left strafe, and when you later need to change to right strafe, you simply let go of the analog stick, and the rubber band will automatically give you right strafe.

Final tip: Try to listen to the music when you enter the plane, and learn what a 22 sounds like. It'll make it alot easier to judge your speed.

My 100% run isn't unlisted. Only completely irrelevant videos are unlisted and difficult to find.

Anyway posting here to let everyone know that I may take random clips from Dam SA runs to explain what they are doing wrong in their runs. I believe part of making a good tutorial is not just correcting explain what to do and how to react to various scenarios but to also explain what most people are doing incorrectly. Now instead of asking for permission for the videos if you have a problem with me using your video for my tutorial let me know. I am going to start working on my tutorial for Dam SA from tomorrow, and hopefully it will be ready before June or so.

"This video is unlisted. Be considerate and think twice before sharing."

Actually dont add it to the list, this video is bad and was rushed. I've intended to remake the Glass tutorial for awhile now, making it more condensed, organized, and easier to watch, also improving the microphone quality and taking out the ums and uhhs.

Depot 23 tutorial by Clem

This is basically just a copy paste from discord but I removed irrel stuff and left what's useful hopefully if someone decides to go for 23.

davidnclemens
I had like 3 24.00s without going for ts
Where I had a sloppy train entru
Basically an insane train entry is harder than the ts
That's what I concluded
My.23 session had 3 24s and a 23 in 15 minutes
So 4 warps

Illu - Today at 8:27 PM
wow

davidnclemens - Today at 8:27 PM
In I5 minutes
If you are in that groove odds go way up
It's not that bad

Illu - Today at 8:28 PM
yea maybe it's kinda like the invest laser skip

davidnclemens - Today at 8:28 PM
Yeah it is exactly

Illu - Today at 8:28 PM
once you know exactly how to do it you tend to hit it more

davidnclemens - Today at 8:28 PM
Same thing
Yep

davidnclemens - Today at 8:29 PM
I think my struggle made me.develop a deep understanding of it though
So I can help other people get 23

davidnclemens - Today at 8:29 PM
Basically, you want to aim for the left side of the beam
Go right for the crack you get "stuck" on
And set up the angle

Karl Jobst - Today at 8:30 PM
wait you can warp where you get stuck?

davidnclemens - Today at 8:30 PM
Yeah
Once I realized that I got heaps of warps

Illu - Today at 8:30 PM
the angle just need to be right I guess and some factor X?

davidnclemens - Today at 8:31 PM
Pause every 23 the frame before the warp
Every single one is on the same frame
Every warp run I meab
And it's way easier to hit that spot if you aim right for the left side of beam
Cause you'll naturally get stuck on it
As opposed to a sammy warp
Where you gotta lottery it

davidnclemens - Today at 8:32 PM
Just study my 23 for a bit

mw - Today at 8:32 PM
should you start turning just before you hit the wall or after?

davidnclemens - Today at 8:33 PM
I clearly approach from the left of beam and slide along it for a few frames
The slide is crucial
But don't approach too wide

davidnclemens - Today at 8:33 PM
You gotta do a micro turn near beam
So you don't lose heaps on a wide turn
The key is to hit the switch when you hit the crack
It needs to be synced

davidnclemens - Today at 8:34 PM
So you hit a, to switch, micro turn to beam, slide a few frames and veer  right to hit the right angle, then warp

davidnclemens - Today at 8:35 PM
Trying to take a direct line to the crack is fucked
Because you won't be able to turn properly
You're doing basically.2 frame.perfect movements
At once
As oppose d to one

davidnclemens - Today at 8:36 PM
It took me 60h.of attempts or so to figure it out lol

ATTN EVERYONE,

Where is the B2 Agent tutorial? It saddened me when I watched irie using all sorts of non-optimal strats, experimenting on his own to figure out how to get a fast keycard guy. It is truly unfortunate how knowledge known by 50+ people isn't being consolidated into a text or video tutorial. This is the rising star we're talking about here wasting hundreds of hours on a time that should take 5 hours max. Think about what records he could have otherwise gotten in these hundreds of hours. Luckily I was there in the stream to guide him, but this should not be standard practice.

Please be responsible and share your knowledge among others!

While streaming we often go on rants explaining how we do certain things when speedrunning some levels.
I glued up some of the footage of me explaining some options for Caverns SA full game RTA speedruns (which also work for 00 most of the time).

made this for swiss a long time ago figured id post it here too. its just a sample run of what your movement and warp attempt should look like on a good run

most important rule imo is to let go of the stick during your actual warp attempt. so like you never change angle which should maximize the odds you get through assuming your angle is good. if your angle is bad, turning in place to try and get the 1 yocto to line up with a different angle will be way too rare to be good for 23 attempts at least. for 24 its less important but for 23 you need to be able to warp 20+ times probably so you want to have good warp technical skill

Hi everyone.  I’m new to The Elite and just finished my Goldeneye times page, relying heavily on these tutorials.  You guys have put in an incredible amount of work to help new runners, and I wanted to convey my appreciation.  I’ll be continuing to use these and all of the information in these forums to bring my times lower.  Thanks again!
