Elite Aesthetics Invitational
« on: May 29, 2014, 10:42:45 am »
Welcome to the 2014 Elite Aesthetics Invitational. Here you will find all the information you need to participate in the invitational.

What does this contest consist of?
There will be multiple categories for you partake in. You can do push-ups and post your push-up PRs here.

Why are we organizing such an event?
This is a good opportunity for many of you who aren’t very competent at speedrunning GE/PD to show off to your friends. You can put your pictures on display in this thread to show how aesthetically pleasing you are. There is also great potential to boost your post count as well.
But seriously, don’t you want to discover your inner alpha male and destroy everyone’s PRs and show off your amazing progress? Yeah you do.

How do we know if your PRs are legitimate?
You have to post vids. No vid, no PR bro. If we find any splices or bullshit, you’re going to be looked down upon and will be considered a loser for the rest of your time on the internet.

Post your weight and height as well because that’s cool to know.

I have a vid of me doing a pushup challenge where you had to do as many in 3min as possible and I did 90 but this was before I went vegan at the end of 2012. I did realize later on that my form is kinda shit maybe, I do the pushups really fast and I hold my head down so I'm stopping before my head touches the floor so I won't destroy my head.

After veganism I'm not as aesthetically pleasing anymore as I'd wanna be either, particularly low confidence is written all over my face (and small ball look) it's quite annoying but working on that atm.

I am planning to possibly post a vid of attempting to beat my deadlift PR (140kg) and bench PR (85kg) sometime if I get a decent cam.

but yea

name: Illu
Gender: unknown (vegan damage left me halfway between a man and a woman, work in progress)
Weight: 84kg (185lbs) - slight fat with arms starting to get too muscular, have to stop working out arms as I might look like a freak otherwise
Height: 176cm (5.9ish)
PR(s): pushups 60 consecutive (ages ago when I weighed like 60kg lol, probably bad form too)
deadlift 140kg (308lbs), bench 85kg (187lbs), I weighed 80kg at the time and only trained like a month bench and deadlift first time in my life then but it was in like 2009 without vegan damage

So yea I should easily be able to beat these now with more training but as I'm vegan damaged I might need to work 5x harder and it sucks and I'm pissed off as hell about this still. cya

Interesting weight Flicker. :kappa:

Anyway, 5'9", 54.5 kg, 40 consecutive pushups was my best when I was last tried a year ago.

It's worth noting that I was 58-59 kg in January, lol. Don't care about my weight but I hope I grow at least 1 more inch.

Epic post, Eise!  :D

Time to re-post with some additional stats, since I'm at home with my record book on hand!

Height - 6 feet, 3.5 inches
Weight - 220 lbs, 100 kilos
Gender - Alpha Male

Current pushup PR = 42 consecutive, good form.
Lifetime pushup PR = 73 consecutive, good form. (2010)

Most consecutive pull-ups (palms toward you) = 17
Most consecutive sit-ups = 5, screw sit ups imo
Largest arms measured = 18.25"
Current arms measured = 17.00" (  :-[ :-[ :-[ )
Bench press personal record = 275 lbs x 6 reps, never attempted a 1 or 2 rep max.
Current rank for Elite calf-size rankings = 1st (probably true)
Current rank for Elite arm-wrestling rankings = 1st

Longest distance ran without stopping... 1.5 miles  >:( >:( >:(

I can't run a 5K, basically, but I used to be a strong mofo.

Insane bench Jimbo (x6 :O) my goal for 1 rep max isn't more than 220lbs, with that kind of bench you should easily stay in top 10 GE.

lol at max distance ran though, I used to be into running like 10 years ago, I ran some 57 400m 2:11 800m, I was more of a long distance runner though but these are the only times I ran on track. I finished 3rd in a 5.3km race (like 3.3 miles) in a very low 18min, but yea it had lots of up and downhill unlike track running. I ran a half marathon twice but this was even further  back when I was like 15-16 and I was not happy with my time (1:45ish).

Worth noting that I did shoulders and chest workouts the past two days so my current potential PR might be a little higher.

I stopped working out for about a year and a half and did nothing but play video games and go to school. I have been back to the gym for about 2 weeks now and will hopefully be making big gains in the coming months. Will post progress pics in 3 months time.

Something else I think we should all post because I'm legitimately curious to see what everyone else has to say!

Most insane athletic/gaming accomplishment? (i.e. Hole in one, 300 in bowling, insane dunk, 99 yard TD, etc) - For me, it was kicking a basketball mostly in rage the full length of the court back in 2008 and making into the basket on a ridic backboard bounce!

1,77m (5'10"), weight varies between 53-55 kg (117-121 lbs) usually. I could probably do approximately 1 push-up/pull-up before collapsing.

Your chest should almost be touching the ground when you descend, and your back should be completely level the entire time. You should also achieve a full range of motion.

I guess the hand positioning that we're seeing in the clips so far is acceptable? There are other positions which make the exercise harder (e.g. put your arms parallel with your torso, so that your hands are at about waist level).

What about foot positioning? I see people with their feet together, it makes it easier if you spread them.

Well it would be best if you performed the standard push-up (hands about shoulder-width and feet together) but you should be able to do any kind of push-up as long as you're doing it with correct form. You can try a harder variation but your number will go under the same rankings as the rest of the push-up PRs. Separate push-up rankings could be created for other variations if there is a high demand.

hmm second thoughts, you only took 1:40 for that, most I've done is 90 but I took 3mins and I rested by sitting after 30 reps or so

Yeah, I basically just woke up and hadn't eaten yet, wasn't really pumped, etc.  I do tend to favor a slightly wider-than-normal hand placement as well-obviously making a push easier due to less range of motion.  Resting is fine as long as you don't throw your arse in the air or rest on a knee-basically don't break the plank plane.  You could literally put over 100 parameters to make it "official," but I was doing legit Navy push-ups.  Eise's were all legit, so if the form is like his/mine, I'd say they are easily legit.

Eric Bond-

Flawless form, brah.  I'd say that you actually go a few inches too far!  Also, make sure you're breathing, dude!  Body/muscles need air.  You'll notice in my vid that I sound like a dying moose or something from all the breathing noises that I make.  Just a suggestion.  Keep up that sweetness, though.  :)
