What's up guys! Rip me a new asshole! I'm CMPFreek!

Don't know who that is?

I was a shameful cheater on Perfect Dark Elite in 2001 when I was 16 years old. Yes, almost 15 years ago (well kinda). I admitted my faults and told a ridiculous sob story that made everything worse!

What the hell am I doing here. I'm a 30 year old man now.

Let me have it!

How do you even cheat in 2001? Something along the lines of:

"Hey guys I got def 4!" - "you didn't!" - "Ok, I gotta confess, I WAS LYING" - "cheater, banned from rankings!"

I cheated using a GameShark. Strung people along with a terrible screenshot (there was no youtube), and then was found out and made a sad sack story for everyone to read. It's quite mortifying when I re-read what I wrote.

I'm not even sure how many of those people are still around. But I do know they talked about that particular cheating event for a few years after.

Oh yes. The era of CMPFreek still haunts my dreams.

Not a week goes by that I don't think about those days and all of the controversy and heartache that was caused.

The name does sound familiar, but I joined the community like a year after you got banned, so... I'm probably thinking of the guy that sported a KMDFM avatar, Darren or something - he also had a "KMDFM Freak" title in red letters iirc, it's probably why I'm making that connection.

Anyway, just found your old thread and man, your excuses SUCKED.  :p  Even by 2001's standards they were astronomically bad lol. And yea, most guys from that thread did leave a long time ago, but some are still around (mainly wheatrich, Expert and Ngamer).

Welcome back. 55 is slightly easier with current strats if you're still interested. :kappa:

Oh yeah, it's pretty embarrassing. I was a pretty dumb kid.

Oh believe me, I'd love to try and get good times again. Maybe some time, but I haven't played that game in probably like 5 years. And even back then I was only approaching 'promising'. It'd take forever for me to pull off the stuff I'm seeing in these streams nowadays. Glad to see the community is still around though.

It's also kind of weird to think of the internet as so old. Looking at 15 year old threads is embarrassing. I'm glad I didn't do too much of anything else on the net back then lol

We all did some things that were unecessary, stupid and regret them (I have done a few myself), props to you for being the bigger man in this situation, even if it's just years later :)

lol Well, I'm glad I confessed back then, even if it was in a painful manner :-S

Is ExpertGamer actually still around? He was the one who introduced me to the boards way back when, when they were just starting.

Well... Expert kinda disappeared in the last few months, but he was pretty active on the boards a few months ago, even streamed for a while. He might resurface during AGDQ '15 (a couple months from now), probably too busy with real life stuff at the moment.
