UPDATES:

4/13/07 - This will have Dayle rolling in her grave!  Well, a couple weeks back I added #66 The Departed to my collection, and followed that up this past week with another of last year's best, #152 Children of Men.  That boosts me to 46/100 and 73 overall.  But here's the Dayle-killer... I then added Hard Candy, even though it'll never have any chance at the Top 250!  But what a film.  I next added the Film of 2005 to my movie wall: Munich.  How this has fallen out of the 250 is beyond me!  And for Easter this past Sunday, EB brought in two new flicks: Capote and Flags of our Fathers. Whooo hooooo!

1/9/07 - Merry Christmas to... me?  In 2006, that answer was a resounding yes!  #16 The Usual Suspects was one gift, #19 Twelve Angry Men was another!  Another goes by the name of #24 Goodfellas, a fourth is called #43 Seven!  #58 Million Dollar Baby was under the tree as well, and we certainly can't forget #146 Finding Neverland, #170 Big Fish, or #206 King Kong (1933)!  Last but not least, there was #234 Scarface!  All told this Xmas generosity has moved me up to a very merry 45 of the Top 100, and 72/250 overall.  What solid progress!

10/1/06 - Talk about your modern classics!  #129 V For Vendetta has just been added to the Ngamer Collection!  63/250 is the latest tally.  Also, I have added all of my DVDs to my account at IMDB.  You can browse through them and view my ratings for each at

imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=2735991

I'm also tracking my TV On DVD list, which can be viewed at imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=21982423 if you're interested.  EDIT - Speaking of which, I purchased Season Three of Arrested Development two weeks back, which (unfortunately) completes that series.

5/25/06 - Hoo boy!  Awarded with a gift certificate to Best Buy as a graduation present, so of course I put it to use by providing for my life post-College... by buying DVDs!  Say hello to #11 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, #41 The Pianist, #95 Donnie Darko, #97 Forrest Gump, #127 Life of Brian, and #131 The Graduate (how appropriate!).  This boosts me to 40/100 and 62/250.  Huzz!

4/28/06 - What's this?  A surprise visit from the Easter Darren?  Why, don't mind if I do!  Seven new DVDs arrived in the mail today: #9 Pulp Fiction, #32 Fight Club, #44 Chinatown, #66 Saving Private Ryan, #100 Fargo, #102 Terminator 2, and #175 Magnolia.  Talk about reaping the whirlwind!  This boosts me to 36/100 and 56/250; getting there!

4/16/06 - Happy Easter indeed!  Boy oh boy, the Easter bunny was good to me this year!  Along with my chocolate rabbit, he brought me the special edition of #6 Schindler's List, a special 2 disk edition of #7 Casablanca, and the Hitchcock classic, #14 Rear Window!

3/31/06 - Purchased the Director's Cut of Requiem for a Dream, #52.  Also, to show Dayle up, purchased Traffic, one of my favorite films, even though it is just off the Top 250 currently.
---

Greetings.

I have two goals in life.

* To see every film on the IMDB Top 250.
* To own every DVD on the IMDB Top 250.

This topic will be the chronicle of my lifetime quest.  The full 250 can be seen here: imdb.com/chart/top  It's constantly evolving, which makes the task doubly hard.  But mayhaps I can do it after all.

I don't like a bunch of films on the top 250.  I prefer to spend my money on films I like, not what the masses tell me to like.

For this top 250, only votes from regular voters are considered.

By 'regular' they mean, only the site's most active voters.  So these aren't 'the masses,' they're film nerds.

Film nerds.

And those "film nerds" have picked a ton of films I don't care for.  I stand by my earlier statement.

That is implied in the term "film nerds."

And if a film nerd told me to jump of a bridge, Dayle, I wouldn't do it.  But if thousands of them agree I should?

You better believe I'd be getting wet.

To be fair, a lot of the film nerds are elitist chumps.
The Godfather still deserves numbah ONE.

I actually thought Casablanca was still one of the greatest I've ever seen, and should definitely be in the top 3 spot. But I think Godfather should probably surpass the other top 3s for the #1 spot...

For my birthday this past February, my grandpa built me a huge wooden DVDcase.

On top is IMDB's Top 250 films, in order.  Below them are TV shows, with non-Top 250 DVDs on the right.  Then comes the current generation of games, GC on the left and PS2 on the right.  Then N64 (NTSC seperated from PAL) with SNES on the left.  NES is near the bottom, with the last shelf reserved for gaming VHS tapes (from myself, Boss, QB, and others).  [Oh yeah, and over on the right you can see a printed and highlighted version of the 250 that I keep track with.]

It is 7 feet tall.  That will leave me room for the whole 250!

I'll keep taking new pics and editing them in to the first post with every update.

I guess you meant binders. I used to keep my games in CD wallets etc, simply because like you said -easier to travel with etc. I don't really have that much (compared to others on here) anyway so unless you've got loads there's no point displaying them or whatever.

Don't forget to make room for Metropolis, Jon! One of the best movies I've EVER seen. They knew how to make movies back in 1927!

EDIT - No, THIS would be abusing Mod privileges.

The first two 'seasons' come in one DVD package, because they were both short (5 for the 1st, 13 for the 2nd).
