Why is The-Elite community hated and thought of as 'toxic' by so many people, speedrunners and stream monsters alike? All too often I see and hear people talking shit, in fact merely bringing up Goldeneye in some circles of my friends immediately makes them start yelling at me to shut the fuck up about my shitty floor simulator. As someone who mainly communicates with speedrunners outside of The-Elite, I'd like to shed some light on why this mentality exists.
1. 'PR'. In case you are unaware, quite literally the only people who don't say 'PB' in reference to a new best time are Eliters and real-life runners. This creates a separation between Eliters and the speedrunning majority, a separation which some view as elitist, almost like we're think we're so special that we have to have out own abbreviation for PB.
2. Lack of player relevance outside of The-Elite. There are truly only a few Eliters that speedrun anything besides GE/PD. Of those that do, most of them only run other shitty meme games or irrel ILs (Pilotwings, Wave Race, Grow Home, Pinball, flash games, etc.) The only exceptions to this rule I can think of are Wodah, Goose, Cosmo, and myself. The fact that 99% of Eliters are completely irrel to literally anyone outside of The-Elite obviously encourages the disconnect between The-Elite and the speedrunning community as a whole.

4. Age. The age of the average Eliter is probably somewhere around 25, while outside of The-Elite that average is around 20. It may not sound like a huge difference, but having so many fucking dinosaurs in the community can be seriously off-putting to anyone unfamiliar with The-Elite. It kind of gives us an aloof, "I'm-better-than-you-because-I'm-older" vibe.
5. The nature of the game. Lets face it: the only people who still run ILs and not RTA runs are irrel SDA oldboys and speedrunners that play newer PC games that lend themselves well to ILs (Hotline Miami, Hotline Miami 2, etc.), most of which have streamlined online leaderboards anyway. Individual levels are dead in the grand scheme of things, and we're the ones stuck in the past.
6. Lookdown. Self explanatory, it's an easy way to take a jab at the game without actually knowing anything about it. fuck whoever discovered it.
7. Jimbo's dick pic. Yashi will not stop bringing this up, and It's embarrassing to all of us. Fucking why.
There it is, folks. A honest, objective look in the mirror at how awful this community is. If anyone else has any other reasons to hate The Elite, please, post them by all means.
