Author Topic: * How many WhatsApp groups will we have by the end of 2016? * (Read 2210 times)

At the beginning of 2014, we had no WhatsApp groups. Goose and I were, I believe, the only ones using WhatsApp because we socialize and interact with our friends, family, etc on a daily basis. We started a Telegram group in April 2014 which has been stable and peaceful ever since. However because WhatsApp was more popular, we started a WhatsApp group in July 2014 with initially only me, Goose and Mirror. Later on we had dsx, Eric, wodahs, etc. Later that year, Eric made another group supposedly because he was upset only Goose and I had admin powers (which I wasn't even aware of).

We had those 2 stable groups throughout 2015 until the end of the year when massive drama broke out. As far as I am aware, as of the time of this post, we now have four Elite WhatsApp groups:

1. The "Goose" group, the first one made.
2. The "Eric" group, the other big group which has (had) other Eliters like Clemens, swiss, Eise, etc.
3. The Turncoat Trio group, with only Ace, dsx and Swiss.
4. Supposedly another group with Alec, Clemens and others dedicated to gym talk and presumably with backbiting about other Eliters who cause drama, etc.

The purpose of this thread is to PREDICT how many WhatsApp groups we will have by the end of 2016. The current rate is 2 extra groups per year, so according to this trend we will have six. Will Eliters resolve their differences or will continuing drama cause more groups to form? Get your PREDICTIONS in, mates!

This is hilarious because, not 24 hours ago, Ace says he was "retiring from drama". WhatsApp groups are never "dedicated" to any specific topics, and everyone here knows this. The group that was formed with Clemens after he left Ace's group was a group who's only real dedication is to not having Ace nor Goose in there to attention-seek, put others down, or spark any drama (anyone else wishing to join is completely welcome, btw

).

Can you use Discord from your phone? If not, it's irrel. If you can, this might actually be true.

I predicted 3 Whatsapp groups because even if the technology becomes irrel, guys like Clemens, Koch, and Alec are very slow to adapt or change their habits, so they will continue using it well after everyone else is gone. They won't leave empty groups, etc.

Yeah. iOS, Android, in browser, and standalone for all desktop OS's, text and voice. Discord is legitimately the best modern chat app I've used and has replaced Skype, Mumble, and IRC for me in a lot of situations.

Wow, cool, just installed on my phone. When I return to streaming I will definitely have a "subscribers get access to Discord channel" perk. Maybe a free for all Discord for everyone else too.

Sounds cool. Would enjoy an invitation if you decide to start something like this.

I have demoed a few of these types of apps. It would be nice to set one up and integrate it with the forums and rankings sites to some degree. I showed one of them to a few guys from Mumble one night a while back.

Unfortunately, the Discord app doesn't have any good integration capabilities at this time from the documentation I can find. Maybe it will in the future. It looks like they are really going for a walled platform right now though, which kind of sucks.

Seems like we have a lot of users now who don't really care to interact on older style forums like this one. It's a good time to consider changes in how we have things set up. I know people have asked before about commenting directly on the rankings. Twitch integration certainly seems like a worthwhile avenue to pursue, too.

Anyone else interested in stuff like that and want to work on it with me?

I was considering doing this pretty soon. If you want to start up an Elite Discord server I am 100% on board.
