I see myself as seeded 9th and as much as I hate it, since I finished 2nd last time, I can't really argue about the names above me being better players. (Except Jimbo - f that guy)
NGamer's list isn't an official seeding list, so I'd take it with a grain of salt. There are people on that list that aren't even 100% confirmed attending...
The most up to date information re: kart tourney can be found in the google doc that's listed in the first post of this thread under the "Kart Setup" tab.
In a previous post I made, I solicited feedback for how to seed returning players (you and Boss) and potential new players with a proven track record in other tournaments (Zoran). No one has really provided anything substantial in response to that request. The difficulty with seeding is that it isn't necessarily a 100% objective reflection of skill and coming up with a list that does is essentially impossible. The best you can hope for is starting out using last year's results and then amending that with reasonable discussion which hopefully yields some sort of consensus.
Your specific case is somewhat difficult. If Boss plays, his last finish (1) outranks yours (2) so it's difficult to seed you higher than him. So the first step is coming up with an accurate seeding for Boss. Do you seed Boss above any of the winners since he last played (Lovins, Me)? Do you seed Boss above anyone who has finished better than Lovins in the last 2 years (Stinson, Trent, Dan B, Jake, Jimbo?). Do you seed Boss above anyone who made the finals last year (me, Jimbo, Jake, Dan B)? If Zoran comes (who has won a "major" 4p vs tournament more recently than Boss), do you seed Boss higher than Zoran? If you answer yes to all of these questions (not saying that I am - just coming up with a rough lower bound for Boss' seeding) then you have potentially all of these people seeded higher than Boss:
Myself, Lovins (if he comes), Stinson, Trent, Dan B (if he comes), Jake, Jimbo, Zoran (if he comes)
That lower bound scenario would make Boss a 9 seed and you would then be seeded lower (not saying that should necessarily be the case, but this provides a somewhat plausible line of reasoning). In reality my feeling is that Boss, as a reigning champion, should be seeded higher than that but exactly where is more or less just a guess. If Dan B doesn't come, I think sliding Boss into Dan's 4th place seed is fairly reasonable. Also, you can reference Third's trajectory in terms of weighting a 2nd place finish from 3+ years ago (he went - 2012:2, 2013:7, 2015:12). On the other hand, you can argue that your previous finish was 2nd and that anyone not finishing in the top 2 since then has no right to be seeded higher. Essentially, you can come up with arbitrary but reasonable arguments that support just about any seeding. This is all fairly premature until the field is more or less set (the status of myself, Dan B, Lovins, Boss, Zoran etc. all need to be confirmed before any meaningful decisions can be made re: seeding).
