Less than 100 hours to go until the opening match kicks off between the host France and Romania on June 10th, it's time for yet another awesome football prediction thread!

Link to the 2014 World Cup Topic

For the first time in European Championship history, the tournament will be contested by 24 teams (four teams in six groups) instead of the usual 16.

The Groups:

Group A:
France
Romania
Albania
Switzerland

Group B:
Wales
Slovakia
England
Russia

Group C:
Poland
Northern Ireland
Germany
Ukraine

Group D:
Turkey
Croatia
Spain
Czech Republic

Group E:
Ireland
Sweden
Belgium
Italy

Group F:
Austria
Hungary
Portugal
Iceland

16 of the 24 teams will qualify to the next round.


The Point System:

If you predict that the score in France vs Romania will end 2-0 and that score actually happen, you will be rewarded 3 points. If you however predict the score to end 2-0, and France end up winning with 3-1, you will receive 1 point for correctly picking the winning team.

If you predict Albania vs Switzerland to end 1-1, i.e. a draw, and that result actually happen, you will get 3 points. If the match ends with 3-3, you will receive 1 point for correctly predicting a draw.

Predict the correct winner of the Tournament and you will receive a total of 5 points.

Please post your preds for the June 10th-11th matches along with which team you think will win the tournament before the opening match!

There might be a lot of tabulation work for this. If you want, you could coordinate with TvL from Kart who hosts the same competition each time and has built a web page to enter predictions and track scoring automatically.

I am HYPED for this tournament. I can also make a spreadsheet similar to my Eye For A Run one to make tallying easier if that's a problem.

France 3:0 Romania (France are rocking a god squad on home turf)

June 11
Switzerland 2:0 Albania (Not sure what Albania is doing here but the Swiss have shown they can probably do better than my prediction in Brazil)

Slovakia 1:1 Wales

England 2:0 Russia (England presents a promising squad as usual and Russia have been on the decline since 2008)

Winner: Germany (The squad has aged and they are missing a few key players but I think they can still pull one through. A very tough decision with a lot of great teams this year.)
