The-Elite Fun Facts!
« on: August 23, 2016, 04:38:29 am »
Everyone post your favourite elite fun facts in this thread! Hopefully with enough activity we can compile a really cool list of interesting and neat elite fun facts!

I'll start:

Elite Fun Fact #1: There was effectively no proof policy or proof moderator in place in 2011 when times including Chuya's Attack Ship Agent 2:06 or Henning's fake Frigate times were submitted to the rankings!

Someone else post another neat fact!
"I want to be defined by the things that I love. Not the things I'm afraid of, or the things that haunt me in the middle of the night.  I just think that, you are what you love."  Taylor Swift, Daylight.

4. We are only 2 seconds away from the sub 28 barrier on 00 Agent. The last 00A barrier was broken in the first week of 2008 with my Aztec 00 Agent 1:41 so it's been around 8.5 years. It's probably the last barrier that will be broken in the game and it's definitely doable (Silo 00A, Aztec 00A, S1 00A, Frig 00A, etc. - all cooked but improvable).

9. New-gen eliters tend to play shit no-skill levels such as Streets, Cradle, Statue, the dero agent levels..., and avoid hardcore relevant ones like Facility, Silo, Train, Control...

10. Everyone says they like RTA, but nobody has the stones to even learn the runs properly, only barely Any%. The more hardcore RTAs are only "cool" as long as Ace/Clem/Marc/Illu/Alex/Goose are streaming it, and nobody else has to learn them.

11. Everyone's judgment is completely enslaved to the truncated seconds. Here's a good example: Why B2 23 is this sick, insane, work of art, world record, while every single Runway 22 just gets thrown in the pile of garbage? Imagine if the runway was long enough that it took longer to reach the plane, making 22 only possible on a 2.x 7:0 run? Then this 22 run would be this glorified trophy time, while in reality a run like that would just be an irrelevant 22 thrown into the 60+ deep pile of runs with the same second. It doesnt mean it's a bad or good thing, of course.

12. New-gen eliters have this insane sense of validation when something is shown in a video. If anything, Henning's, Monteith's, Goose's cheated runs only prove that without context I REPEAT: >>>WITHOUT CONTEXT<<<, READ IT AGAIN IF YOU HAVEN'T, videos CAN be as irrelevant as zero proof.
Henning's runs would probably be here until this day had he not made trivial careless mistakes, and videowhore eliters would be all bowing to him without questioning the runs. Honestly, it's just a matter of time until some no-fun-zoners start to fake things like Cradle 32's on perfect 480p in-game sound no splice detectable with "miracle lucky endings" that will never be replicated (because they're fake), and the same Safe Space Crew will open their mouths to these dickshot runs just like they do to Attack Ship 206.

And since shit is getting personal:

13. Alec was never fit to be a forum moderator, a proof moderator or an elite council member. His power is solely based on some random gag by one of the old tyrant loser admins, and playing rock band with Jimbo. His judgment and skills are so off, that he only knew how to upload a video on youtube by the browser until recently, has the biggest liar in the fitness industry as one of his "heros", and still believes in the fairy tale of sistematically chosing a college career and work section being the ultimate financially stable option.
Every time you try to have a discussion with him, he makes his points as they're irrefutable truths, even facing evidence and reasoning. Mate, here's a tip: that's not confidence or being assertive, that's being cocky and ignorant.

14. Goose has good morals and the truth in his heart, but got caught up within the porn-pop culture of 20XX, which leads him igniting internet gang-ups just so gullible eliters can validate whatever point he believes in, has very twisted up views on fame, relevance and relationships, and as a consequence, these gullible eliters (aka the "Safe Space Crew") end up ignoring his points even when he's absolutely correct and has good points.

Shit wasn't getting personal. People (especially Goose  :kappa: ) like to throw around mental disorders as insults to people simply because of social stigma associated with it. It deems it acceptable to make a joke in it's light (even though it most definitely is not). But we let that shit slide.

What you're saying IS personal, because you're making ridiculous judgement calls and assumptions based off of little to no insider/close information and only from internet presence. You have no idea who I am, what kind of person I am, and what I believe in. You simply have not the slightest idea of why I chose the people that I did in my heroes topic. You may have info that I don't on Mike O'Hearn, but you don't know why I chose to include him into that topic, do you? As that's a rhetorical question, allow me to answer it straight away and say no, you don't, because I never gave explanation to it.

How old are you, João? Maybe 20, 21, if that? What life experience and personal perspective do you have that enables you to believe that you can sit where you are and judge me, or anyone else (especially based on internet presence alone) about our persona or our motivations in life? You have absolutely no logical reasoning to what you do. I don't know why I'm even dignifying you with a response, to be very honest. I see you post on the forums, and if I'm to use the same methodology you are to judge me, then I can tell you that you scrutinize sane logic at every point you can, you attempt to belittle and troll people the best ways you can by refuting everything you read and throwing up some goofy statement or counter-argument for whatever the case may be, and you generally just have a bad attitude towards everything that seems to go on around here in the community. You're worse now than when you first started posting.

But if I'm to put that aside like a human being and NOT judge you based on your forums presence like a teenager jacked up on hormones, caffeine, and a shit-eating attitude, I'd say from the discussions had on discord (when I was able to access it freely from my home pc), I'd say you were a sensible dude with a head on your shoulders that showed potential to be fair to others and to have healthy discussions about relevant subjects where necessary. I think you and a few others have enjoyed jumping on the bandwagon of hating the proof moderator  because they've made a few decisions you don't agree with. You can be as upset as you want, but I've been clear since the beginning that if someone has an issue you are always free to PM me as I'm approachable and will always get back to anyone with a response in a reasonable time period.
Believe what you want to, but I think meeting your points with my own will help alleviate whatever it is you have going through your head that worsens your view of me as both a person and an administrative position holder on the site, and might lessen the hostility you're obviously holding.

Yes, I'm a newbie when it comes to technology. I don't properly take care of my equipment as far as regular cleanings and maintenance goes, and around every turn I seem to run into issues surrounding any kind of device I seem to have in my possession. It's actually kind of a running joke amongst family and friends of mine now, lol. I'm also a newer player and spectator to speedrunning and The-Elite. I came around in early 2013 and didn't really get involved in anything other than spectating until 2014. What you don't take into consideration, João, is the fact that I try my best to be fair and respectful to people who deserve it and treat me the same way. If I'm given a reason to treat you like an asshole, there's more than likely a good reason behind it. Though I'm also completely willing to admit I've made mistakes in that as well.
Concerning the ever-famous meme of the YouTube upload button: Since I started speedrunning, I was shown a method (I forgot by whom) to cut Amarec footage in Windows Movie Maker and that I could upload it straight from the program, which I did for the longest time until this whole meme came about, lol. After seeing so many gamers and YouTubers using other programs to edit either their gameplays or vlogs or whatever the case may be, I made the (obviously bad) assumption that that's how they also uploaded their stuff, through the program. You should understand that from my point of view, I only ever used YouTube to watch videos and upload through movie maker for a good year or two. I never clicked around and got curious as to anything, really. The upload button thing was as hilarious to me as it is to everyone else.  :v

Concerning the rock band joke: LOL that this is still a thing. It isn't like I've had meaningful and relevant conversations and formed relationships with the admins of the site and certain members of the community and inclined as to whether there was anything more I could do for the community itself behind the scenes, right? All it took was a few hits of the rock band drum pad and a few strums of the guitar and it magically formed a connection that resulted in my being approved for GE proof mod? You guys never quit with this one.  :rollin:

Concerning your belief of my motivations and persons of interest who motivate me: If I find someone to be entertaining, hilarious, and provides me motivation to push myself and better myself (in the gym specifically in this case), why does it concern you who it is I respond to? It could've been Dom Mazzetti for all we know, and I think you'd still have something to say about it.  :tired: You only paint a worse picture for yourself by judging someone, dude. I don't need to be motivated by the guy for his business strategies, memes, community surrounding him, or whether the guy uses juice or not, or claims that he does or doesn't.

"Fairy tale of choosing a college career and work section being the ultimate financially stable solution"
You're saying this like I have no brain and expect a piece of paper to admit me to a 6-figure career for life straight out of college at 26. What are you even thinking by typing that? While college and post secondary education *IS* itself a business, it's also a great opportunity to gain in-field knowledge and opportunities to network (which people seldom take true advantage of). There are different financial options for everyone. Lots of people want to start their own businesses and become entrepreneurs. Some people would prefer to work in government agencies such as healthcare/hospitals, law enforcement/protection, or financial/revenue. Yaddayadda. I don't need to explain every reason out there for people to make money or a living for themselves. If you're judging me for wanting to build a career from receiving a college education, that just makes you diluted and an asshole, frankly.

Don't talk to be about ignorance when you're spewing it from yourself as you type this stuff out to me. Maybe me giving some perspective of my own will help ease whatever this is that you seem to have going for me. Any further discussion, I'm open to. Or feel free to PM me, as always.

~Cheers

So the rule is "choose anyone as a proof mod, and only remove the person if she's bad"?
Would love to hear from you when you let someone with zero experience and credentials perform a surgery in your body, because "no one has ever presented a valid case as to why he is a bad doctor".

Don't think you realize being a proof moderator is a thankless, $0.00 compensation job which requires a lot of attention and a big post every month, as well as a lot of babysitting. Alec has literally never missed a call and has acted fine, you are way off base here comparing it to something as silly as a Doctor. Him and Jonny do fantastic jobs.

So that justifies putting someone with zero knowledge on the job? Doing all that homework plus making wrong decisions (such as not backrolling Dam 1:58).

He also became a forum moderator first, because of some random irrel admin gag, and now is a member of the council, being responsible for major decisions within the elite, for no good reason. If only I was the one who got runway 22 and got free modded back in the day, right now I would be making council decisions and writing proofcall posts!

Spec, you are a cool guy. Please don't make these bad boy, drama-inducing posts. If you have to, please talk to the admins in private (Discord, FB, PM on the forums, etc). It's time we make this place nice again. Maybe you have some differences with Spec, and maybe some people agree with you, but I assure you posting your problems with him here will only add fuel to fire. Let's get this solved the right way!

Come on mate. ;)

22. when I was 15 we were supposed to write a paragraph for school for a time capsule and half my paragraph was about my goals for GE

The paper will get destroyed in the capsule--it's amazing how many things you did/learned there you realized later on were incredibly dumb/pointless or just plain incorrect.

25.  Like telling people they are bad at their job they don't get paid for here.  You're just being an ass.   (If I did this, well I learned okay?)

feel free to write a proofcall post anytime bud, I'm sure Trouble would love the month off. If you demonstrated a helpful attitude you could easily get added to the council as well

Nah. I enjoy creating them. Spec's attitude is far beyond repair at this point.  :v
