2016 Elite Fantasy Football [wiff vs Ng in the Super Bowl]
« on: August 31, 2016, 07:06:22 am »
Our League: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/th3_elite/

If you've never played with us before but are interested feel free to post here, there might be an opening depending on how many returning players we get this year.

Settings this year are the same as 2015: standard scoring, 3 WRs plus a Flex position, standard snake draft which we're currently shooting to run this Saturday night, starting somewhere around 8pm Central.  If you're in but that time doesn't work out for you let us know!
---

$10 entry fee paypaled to ngamer AT google mail service.com, Super Bowl winner takes the whole pot

(going to go with the same setup as last year: if you haven't paid up by week 3 you're out of the money aka the pot would go to the second place team if you finish first)

This Sunday is Father's Day here but I'm sure he won't mind a laptop at lunch!

I think I've re-joined; it seems to have carried us all over from last year or something?

It's been a long time since I've chatted with a bunch of you so IN for the league this year if there's an available spot.  (gonna be fun drafting being entirely clueless about league settings)

Will definitely not be doing draft grades but I do expect smack talking.  I want my $ worth.

Feel terrible for bridgewater--just glad it appears to not be a career ending injury.

It's a bit ridiculous kaepernick is hated at the level rae carruth (nfl player who murdered his pregnant gf for you youngs) was given NFL players can rape women and not get anywhere near that level of outrage and have many defend you for it but that's society.

Alright awesome, with wheat making his triumphant return that puts us at a perfect 12 assuming everyone from last year rejoins as well.  I'm not hearing any objections to the Saturday night timeframe so let's pencil that in for now.

Here's the full league history for podium finishes:

Most Championship Rings:
Come - 3
QB and Clark - 2

Most Podium Finishes:
Come - 8
Ng and QB - 5

I'm in.

+1 on both Wheat's comments. If he starts winning (or gets whiter), everyone will like him again.

On the topic of misjudgment of sports stars:
Tiger Woods is almost certainly a psychopath (at minimum, sociopath). He's like a robot with the press.  Don't be fulled by those smiles; he'd let everyone in the press room get crushed to death to get even one stroke back (as long as no one knew he did it, of course).  We just can't let go of him (and similar disgraced champions) as a mythical winner above all winners which we value so much in America.  It somehow makes us winners if we root for him.

Footnote: Add Marion Jones to that list... she's an egomaniac, addicted to praise and denial that she *needed* drugs to win.  Ryan Braun... we don't speak of this man.

I'd like to know what algorithm caused yahoo to project me as the best team, ngamer as winning the draft, nate getting the highest draft grade all right when the draft ended.

Led by a Talented WR Corps, Nasty Nate's Crew Expects to Factor Heavily Into Playoff Picture

Nasty Nate's Crew took a high draft pick and turned it into a playoff-caliber squad with a projected record of 7-6-0 (1,697). They should be able to roll through most of The Elite League on their way to a projected fourth-place finish. They won't have any issues with depth at WR, using their first three picks to load up, drafting Antonio Brown, Dez Bryant, and Sammy Watkins. If these guys can do what they're expected to do, Nasty Nate's Crew will benefit. They are the top group of WRs in the league.

* Nasty Nate's Crew grabbed a couple of QBs (Carson Palmer and Andy Dalton) that'll both be on bye in Week 9, and will be looking for a signal-caller. You can call Brett, but texting him isn't exactly recommended.

* Jeremy Hill, RB, Round 4, Pick 40
Nasty Nate's Crew held off on drafting a RB early, waiting until the fourth round to snag their "lead back".

* Donte Moncrief, WR, Round 5, Pick 41
While drafted 41st overall, Donte Moncrief isn't projected among the NFL's top-20 in either receiving TDs (24th with 7.3) or receiving yards (25th with 1,013).

* Melvin Gordon, RB, Round 6, Pick 60
With their sixth-round pick, Nasty Nate's Crew threw caution to the wind. They took Melvin Gordon at pick number 60 despite an ADP of 86.3 across all Yahoo! leagues.

Overall Grade: B

Clark's Pilotwingers
1.   (2)   Odell Beckham Jr. (NYG - WR)
2.   (19)   Brandin Cooks (NO - WR)
3.   (22)   Alshon Jeffery (Chi - WR)
4.   (39)   Jordan Reed (Was - TE)
5.   (42)   Latavius Murray (Oak - RB)
6.   (59)   Ryan Mathews (Phi - RB)
7.   (62)   Marvin Jones Jr. (Det - WR)
8.   (79)   Philip Rivers (SD - QB)
9.   (82)   Seattle (Sea - DEF)
10.   (99)   Connor Barth (NO - K)
11.   (102)   Duke Johnson Jr. (Cle - RB)
12.   (119)   Marcus Mariota (Ten - QB)
13.   (122)   Martellus Bennett (NE - TE)
14.   (139)   T.J. Yeldon (Jax - RB)
15.   (142)   Phillip Dorsett (Ind - WR)
16.   (159)   Buffalo (Buf - DEF)

Despite a Formidable Set of WRs, Clark's Pilotwingers Isn't Anything to Get Excited About

While the Clark's Pilotwingers roster doesn't exactly scream playoffs, it's a roster that can be improved with some wheeling and dealing. As of now, they are projected to finish seventh in The Elite League with a record of 6-7-0 (1,667 points). They used their first three picks on wideouts Odell Beckham Jr. (2nd overall), Brandin Cooks (19th), and Alshon Jeffery (22nd), giving them a competitive "500" team that should dominate the playground in no time. Clark's Pilotwingers will rely heavily on this group, as they are one of the top groups of WRs in the league.

* Clark's Pilotwingers must have missed the point of drafting a back-up. In Week 9, both Jordan Reed and Martellus Bennett will be on bye.

* Clark's Pilotwingers hopes to break through this season, led by four players who are projected to significantly exceed their fantasy points from last season.

* While the rest of the league slept on Phillip Dorsett, Clark's Pilotwingers pounced on him at pick No. 142.

* L. Murray, RB, Round 5, Pick 42
Laughing in the face of decades of fantasy tradition, Clark's Pilotwingers didn't grab their first RB (Latavius Murray) until the fifth round.

* Ryan Mathews, RB, Round 6, Pick 59
Was the 59th Pick the Right Time for Ryan Mathews?  Clark's Pilotwingers apparently believes so. The Eagles' running back is projected to put up 157 points this year, after only netting 104 last year.

Overall Grade: B-

Phantom Phighters
1.   (3)   Todd Gurley (LA - RB)
2.   (18)   Doug Martin (TB - RB)
3.   (23)   Jordy Nelson (GB - WR)
4.   (38)   Andrew Luck (Ind - QB)
5.   (43)   Doug Baldwin (Sea - WR)
6.   (58)   Jeremy Langford (Chi - RB)
7.   (63)   Travis Kelce (KC - TE)
8.   (78)   Sterling Shepard (NYG - WR)
9.   (83)   Tavon Austin (LA - WR)
10.   (98)   Arian Foster (Mia - RB)
11.   (103)   Kansas City (KC - DEF)
12.   (118)   Isaiah Crowell (Cle - RB)
13.   (123)   Matthew Stafford (Det - QB)
14.   (138)   Jay Ajayi (Mia - RB)
15.   (143)   Spencer Ware (KC - RB)
16.   (158)   Chris Boswell (Pit - K)

Despite a Powerful Set of RBs, Phantom Phighters Has to Be Thinking, "Dagnabbit!"

(Yahoo must be confusing Third with Nate...)

Despite selecting with the third overall pick, Phantom Phighters couldn't capitalize on the opportunity and drafted a roster that will have trouble winning. Opponents will enjoy beating this team with regularity, which is projected to finish eighth in The Elite League with a record of 6-7-0 (1,644 points). They used a conservative plan early to fill out their lineup, selecting QB Andrew Luck (38th overall), RBs Todd Gurley (3rd) and Doug Martin (18th), and WRs Jordy Nelson (23rd) and Doug Baldwin (43rd). They put together the best group of RBs in the league, as they added Gurley, Martin, Jeremy Langford, and Arian Foster to their roster.

* It's likely that in Week 10, Phantom Phighters will either be scraping the wire or begging for a trade (Andrew Luck and Matthew Stafford will both be on bye).

* Phantom Phighters grabbed a sleeper in Jay Ajayi with pick No. 138.

* Phantom Phighters stuck to the tried-and-true fantasy strategy of going RB-RB to start the draft, taking Todd Gurley and Doug Martin before targeting other positions.

* Doug Baldwin, WR, Round 5, Pick 43
While drafted 43rd overall, Doug Baldwin isn't projected among the NFL's top-30 in either receiving TDs (33rd with 6.3) or receiving yards (31st with 955).

Overall Grade: C+

Led by a Stellar WR Corps, Mechanical Yetis Wins at Fantasy Football and Life

Mechanical Yetis proved on draft day that when the lights come on, they perform, building a strong team capable of beating anyone on the schedule. They are expected to finish second in The Elite League with a record of 9-4-0 (1,706 points). If they have a bad season, it won't be due to a lack of wide receivers, as they used three of their first five selections to pick up WRs Julio Jones (first round), Mike Evans (second round), and Randall Cobb (fifth round). A lot will be expected of this group, as they are one of the best groups of WRs in the league.

* Mechanical Yetis nabbed a sleeper in Dwayne Allen with pick No. 137.

* C.J. Anderson, RB, Round 3, Pick 24
Laughing in the face of decades of fantasy tradition, Mechanical Yetis didn't grab their first RB until the third round.

* Thomas Rawls, RB, Round 4, Pick 37
Rawls produced a ridiculous 5.6 YPC last season, and among all RBs, only Devonta Freeman and DeAngelo Williams appeared more often on first-place fantasy rosters.

Overall Grade: B

Ng's Score Squad
1.   (5)   David Johnson (Ari - RB)
2.   (16)   Keenan Allen (SD - WR)
3.   (25)   Devonta Freeman (Atl - RB)
4.   (36)   Russell Wilson (Sea - QB)
5.   (45)   Greg Olsen (Car - TE)
6.   (56)   Michael Floyd (Ari - WR)
7.   (65)   Kelvin Benjamin (Car - WR)
8.   (76)   Allen Hurns (Jax - WR)
9.   (85)   Tom Brady (NE - QB)
10.   (96)   DeAngelo Williams (Pit - RB)
11.   (105)   Danny Woodhead (SD - RB)
12.   (116)   Vincent Jackson (TB - WR)
13.   (125)   Dion Lewis (NE - RB)
14.   (136)   Jared Cook (GB - TE)

Led by a Terrific Group of RBs, Ng's Score Squad Has the Studs to Reach Playoffs

Ng's Score Squad put together an underrated roster that might not dominate week in and week out, but will be firmly entrenched in a playoff spot by season's end. They're projected to finish the season with an 8-5-0 (1,722) record in The Elite League, which will be good enough for third. They didn't target any one position early, selecting QB Russell Wilson (36th overall), RB David Johnson (5th), WR Keenan Allen (16th), and TE Greg Olsen (45th) within the first five rounds. They also built the highest-scoring group of RBs in the league, as they added Johnson, Devonta Freeman, and Danny Woodhead to the team.

* Ng's Score Squad didn't exactly wrap up the draft on a high note, ending up with the fewest projected points in the league over the second half of the draft.

* Only Devonta Freeman appeared on more championship rosters than Tom Brady last season.

* Heavenly Handcuff- Pittsburgh's back-up made the most of his opportunity to start last year, and when the dust had settled on the 2015 season, only one RB (Devonta Freeman) appeared on more first-place rosters than DeAngelo Williams.

* Keenan Allen, WR, Round 2, Pick 16
Despite being an above-average player at his position, the selection of Keenan Allen had less value than any other pick of the round.

* Greg Olsen, TE, Round 5, Pick 45
Greg Olsen is projected to rank among the top-5 for TEs in both receiving TDs (fourth with 6.9) and receiving yards (third with 947).

Overall Grade: B

Killer Kangaroos
1.   (6)   Adrian Peterson (Min - RB)
2.   (15)   Mark Ingram (NO - RB)
3.   (26)   Cam Newton (Car - QB)
4.   (35)   Eric Decker (NYJ - WR)
5.   (46)   Julian Edelman (NE - WR)
6.   (55)   Larry Fitzgerald (Ari - WR)
7.   (66)   Delanie Walker (Ten - TE)
8.   (75)   Michael Crabtree (Oak - WR)
9.   (86)   Giovani Bernard (Cin - RB)
10.   (95)   Mason Crosby (GB - K)
11.   (106)   James Starks (GB - RB)
12.   (115)   Jameis Winston (TB - QB)
13.   (126)   Green Bay (GB - DEF)
14.   (135)   Dorial Green-Beckham (Phi - WR)
15.   (146)   Alex Smith (KC - QB)
16.   (155)   Riley Cooper (Phi - WR)

Despite a Powerful Set of RBs, Killer Kangaroos Needs Work

While this draft by Killer Kangaroos didn't exactly set the world on fire, it didn't destroy their playoff aspirations either. They are expected to be in the mix for a playoff spot with a projected sixth-place finish in The Elite League at 6-7-0 (1,701 points). With their first five picks, Killer Kangaroos focused on a balanced offensive attack, selecting QB Cam Newton (26th overall), RBs Adrian Peterson (6th) and Mark Ingram (15th), and WRs Eric Decker (35th) and Julian Edelman (46th). They put together the most prolific QB pair in the league, as they added Newton and Jameis Winston to their squad.

* With an average of 7.5 years of NFL experience, Killer Kangaroos is the team most likely to have a player become a grandpa.

* The top half of the Killer Kangaroos roster is one of the strongest in the league (ranked No. 2). However, the bottom of the roster is among the weakest (ranked No. 8).

* Killer Kangaroos stuck to the tried-and-true fantasy strategy of going RB-RB to start the draft, nabbing Adrian Peterson and Mark Ingram right off the bat.

L. Fitzgerald, WR, Round 6, Pick 55
Was Larry Fitzgerald Worth it at Pick No. 55?  Killer Kangaroos sure hopes so. The Cardinals' WR is projected to earn 147 points this year, after putting up 172 last season.

Overall Grade: B

Projected to Finish Fifth, Hej Has Great Shot at Playoffs

Picking late (seventh overall), Hej did what they could with what they were given. While this team isn't a juggernaut by any means, it's a team capable of reaching the playoffs if the chips fall their way. They are expected to finish fifth in The Elite with a record of 7-6-0 (1,684 points). They loaded up on ball carriers early, using three of their first five picks to scoop up RBs Ezekiel Elliott (first round), Eddie Lacy (third round), and DeMarco Murray (fifth round). They put together one of the lowest-scoring groups of WRs in the league, as they have Brandon Marshall, Jeremy Maclin, Demaryius Thomas, and DeVante Parker for their rotation.

* If other Yahoo! users are right, Hej got a steal in the 10th round, when they selected Stephen Gostkowski (94th overall pick vs. ADP of 76.7).

* DeMarco Murray, RB, Round 5, Pick 47
Why can't I find DeMarco Murray on my draft cheat sheet? Oh wait, here he is under "mid-to-late-round flier."

* Jeremy Maclin, Round 6, Pick 54
Was Jeremy Maclin Worth it at Pick No. 54?  Hej sure hopes so. The Chiefs' WR is projected to notch 148 points this year, after producing 156 last season.

Overall Grade: B

Are you Keen?
1.   (8)   A.J. Green (Cin - WR)
2.   (13)   Allen Robinson (Jax - WR)

15.   (148)   Torrey Smith (SF - WR)
16.   (153)   Steven Hauschka (Sea - K)

With a Projected Finish of 10th, Are you Keen? Will Be Chillin' in the Basement Like it's High School

Someone get Chip Kelly on the line because it's time to make moves. Projected to finish 10th in The Elite League with a record of 1-12-0 (1,661 points), Are you Keen? will have to get creative if they want to reach the postseason. They aimed for having a roster with balance throughout, taking QB Aaron Rodgers (33rd overall), RBs LeSean McCoy (28th) and Matt Forte (48th), and WRs A.J. Green (8th) and Allen Robinson (13th). They also landed one of the best QB duos in the league, as they added Rodgers and Kirk Cousins to their squad.

* Are you Keen? was focused on a squad with minimal risk, grabbing seven "low-risk" players out of 16 picks.

* The top half of the Are you Keen? roster is one of the strongest in the league (ranked No. 1). However, the bottom of the roster is among the weakest (ranked No. 9).

* While the rest of the league slept on Tevin Coleman, Are you Keen? pounced on him at pick No. 133.

* A.J. Green, WR, Round 1, Pick 8
Despite being an above-average player at his position, A.J. Green was the weakest value pick of the round.

* LeSean McCoy, RB, Round 3, Pick 28
Are you Keen? held off on drafting a RB early, waiting until the third round to snag their "lead back" (LeSean McCoy).

Overall Grade: B-

Slovenly Sevenths
1.   (9)   DeAndre Hopkins (Hou - WR)
2.   (12)   Le'Veon Bell (Pit - RB)
3.   (29)   T.Y. Hilton (Ind - WR)
4.   (32)   Jamaal Charles (KC - RB)
5.   (49)   Drew Brees (NO - QB)
6.   (52)   Jordan Matthews (Phi - WR)
7.   (69)   Emmanuel Sanders (Den - WR)
8.   (72)   Zach Ertz (Phi - TE)
9.   (89)   Josh Gordon (Cle - WR)
10.   (92)   LeGarrette Blount (NE - RB)
11.   (109)   Ameer Abdullah (Det - RB)
12.   (112)   Minnesota (Min - DEF)
13.   (129)   Jimmy Graham (Sea - TE)
14.   (132)   Mohamed Sanu (Atl - WR)
15.   (149)   Joe Flacco (Bal - QB)
16.   (152)   Brandon McManus (Den - K)

With a Projected Finish of Ninth, Slovenly Sevenths Should Have Autodrafted

Whatever strategy Slovenly Sevenths used to build this team, it should be thrown out, because it didn't work. Picking ninth, they struggled to piece together a competitive team and as a result, are projected to finish ninth in The Elite League with a record of 5-8-0 (1,675 points). They wanted to make sure they had plenty of wideout options, picking DeAndre Hopkins (first round), T.Y. Hilton (third round), Jordan Matthews (sixth round), and Emmanuel Sanders (seventh round) with four of their first seven selections. They put together one of the lowest-scoring pairs of QBs in the league, as they have Drew Brees and Joe Flacco on the roster.

* Unfortunately, RB is the only strong position on Slovenly Sevenths. Fortunately, there's always next year.

* Assembling a squad of rising stars is key to fantasy success and Slovenly Sevenths may have done just that, with five players estimated to top their prior-season numbers by a substantial amount.

* Slovenly Sevenths may have found a gem in Ameer Abdullah. Including his 596 projected return yards, he ranks seventh in the league with 1,543 all-purpose yards.

* T.Y. Hilton, WR, Round 3, Pick 29
Despite being an above-average player at his position, T.Y. Hilton was the weakest value pick of the round.

* Jamaal Charles, RB Round 4, Pick 32
The rest of The Elite League overlooked a gem, and Slovenly Sevenths made the highest value pick of the round by taking Jamaal Charles.

Overall Grade: B-

Although They Stretched for Some Early Picks, Wheat's Treats Is Going to Own This League

Wheat's Treats wasn't constrained by picking last in the first round. Like a jackrabbit in a footrace, Wheat's Treats was able to turn their relative weakness into their advantage. Now that the dust has settled a bit, they are projected to have the best team with 1,716 points and a record of 10-3-0. With seven WRs on the roster, Wheat's Treats has a quality group of receivers; their WRs are projected to average 131 points this season, near the league average of 139. They ended up with a quality RB tandem, as they added Lamar Miller and Carlos Hyde.

* Wheat's Treats is the youngest squad in the league, with an average of just 4 years of NFL experience.

* Wheat's Treats finished on a high note, accumulating the most projected points in the league over the second half of the draft.

* Rob Gronkowski, TE Round 2, Pick 11
Rob Gronkowski was the best value pick of the round and could be the cause of many sleepless nights for the other managers.

* Jarvis Landry, WR, Round 5, Pick 50
Wheat's Treats may see some WR1 potential in Landry, who was one of three players (along with Julio Jones and Antonio Brown) to see double-digit targets in each of the final four weeks of 2015.

* Golden Tate, WR, Round 6, Pick 51
Was Golden Tate the Best Choice at a Pick at No. 51?  Wheat's Treats apparently thinks so. The Lions' wideout is projected to earn 152 points this year, after putting up 119 last year.

Wouldn't recommend drafting-by-app to anyone if you have the choice. Wasn't easy to see when the byes were on my team, no notifications when it was my turn to draft, etc. But glad I could make it and looking forward to another bottom-of-the-ladder season!

as a headsup, Clark's auto draft picked a kicker who got cut so he needs a new one for week 1.  Dunno how much he pays attention to the thread or such things.\

edit--actually he's fine again, he'll be the bears kicker week 1

After Keenan Allen's torn ACL and Russel Wilson's sprained ankle left me 27 points back of Shep on Sunday, Yahoo gave up on the Score Squad.  Silly website, we had our 10th round draft pick still to play!

Yahoo lowered the Squad to a 0% chance at the comeback in the second half of the Steelers game, but fortunately DeAngelo powered his way to two touchdowns to go along with his 171 yards and it was just enough to bring us all the way back from the brink.

Now to be clear I'm really pleased about drafting DAW but considering Shep was the only team in the league I would have beaten this week and that I left 18 points on the bench in Woodhead and 15 in Kelvin Benjamin I've got to admit this was really really lucky!  Does take some of the sting out of losing my R2 draft pick for the year at least...

Really close games across the board here in W1.  wheat scored a MNF comeback of his own, riding Carlos Hyde for 100 yards and two scores to edge Third by a few points, and Nate did the same to top Neo thanks to 126 yards and two scores from the always-reliable Antonio Brown.

Sadly Spike couldn't repeat the script as Big Ben's 300 yards and 3 TD passes still weren't quite enough to match Qwec.  The real story of W1 however was wiff who exploded for 132 points thanks to huge days from Brees, Matthwes, Abdullah, and the Vikings to top a very game Clark (120).

Could've sworn I put in carr over bortles (costing me 7 points) but then I looked at third's bench and I would've played two of them and he would've killed me if they were in the game (ware is the obvious one) and had me in pretty bad shape; he had multiple rams going tonight against hyde/rams D (which did nothing vs BLAINE GABBERT) + a good sized lead and I still got there.  Still sunday drove me nuts, I picked up the colts TE to replace gronk (best avail + really good matchup+ block luck on third's team), just to notice luck on third's team throw the ball to a TE nobody's ever heard of for 2 TD's.  Trolling so hard.

Still not even close to the ngamer comeback.   Probably not gonna get a bigger one all year in the league.

I mean ngamer is one player away from me making a joke about him scoring as well as the rams did tonight (which got instantly put into the "worst games you can remember" discussion talk, surprisingly way more MNF than TNF games in that list).

third, if you're benching gurley, what can I trade for him?  Obviously you don't need a RB.  You want 2 WR's?  (obviously not trading my top 2)

alternatively, one of my non top 2 WR's for Crowell?

can't say I'm looking to trade away RBs at this point, gotta hold on to everybody and see who develops. Gurley was playing Seattle this week, actually did okay but starting him wouldn't have mattered. My week looks pretty abysmal, but I lost Baldwin and Martin to injuries and Luck had to play the Broncos (I probably should've started Stafford). Baldwin was the top scorer for the Seahawks week 1 with solid numbers, even with their offense being total shit, so hopefully they get a little better.

speaking of underperforming, that Carlos Hyde game is totally insane. I wouldn't want any of your WRs unless it was Landry or Cooper. I've had DeSean in the past and I'm not doing that again, and the other three are pretty lol

At least you can feel better you didn't blow pick #11 on a guy who's gonna miss the first 3 games of the season.  Didn't think I could make a fair deal with my team vs yours (since I'm literally never trading both cooper/landry) but had to ask since it's not every day you bench the guy you draft first and he's not injured.

Ng last unbeaten standing winning our GOTW against the previously 4-0 TVP squad.

edit--being 2-3 despite everyone picking up whoever I waive does make me a bit salty.  Won't get a bye but a 6 team playoff I still got a shot at least.

I probably would've dropped the K too but not Denver.

if it's any consolation, I still need help just to make the 6 seed.  Need to win next week and either third this week/neo next week to get there (and another team to lose one of the next two).  My team will be a fair bit better in W14 though if gronk recovers, I mean I feel like I'm at least gonna clown ngamer's team.

Kudos to neo for the troll of Buf's D vs my Raiders O when I needed both of us to win.     Big fat -4 so I don't get any shot at a MNF sweat.

I remembered why I quit fantasy before; I suck at it.

16 weeks later, it all comes down to this.

Ngamer versus wiff in the 2016 Elite Super Bowl!

This is the Score Squad's 5th appearance in the Big Game (including the third in the past four years)- however Ng has struggled to finish seasons on a strong note as this would be only his second Elite Championship (and first since 2003).  wiff meanwhile is making his second Super Bowl appearance, having previously come up short in 2006.

How Did They Get Here?
Despite a strong regular season (10-3 record, second most total points scored), I must admit the Score Squad did get more than a little bit lucky on a number of occasions.

- needed a miracle game from DeAngelo Williams to erase a 27 point Monday Night deficit in Week 1
- only survived W2 because Neo's #1 pick AP blew out his leg against the Packers
- somehow cracked the playoffs despite being the only team this season to get trashed by 50, by wheat
- needed a killer final week to edge the total pts tiebreaker over Qwec and earn a first round playoff bye, or else we'd likely have been eliminated R1

All that being said I do think you'd have to agree things went pretty well for me on Draft Day.

* got David Johnson with the #5 pick who went on to be the #1 RB in Fantasy at 21 pts per start (just edging LeVeon Bell and Ezekiel Elliott at 20 and 19)
* snagged the #8 RB in Fantasy (14 pts per start) as DeVonta Freeman was somehow still on the board midway through Round Three
*  looked past the early season suspension to nab Tom Brady in Round Nine, who went on to be the #3 QB in Fantasy per start (21 pts per game, trailing Rodgers and Matt Ryan but finishing barely ahead of Drew Brees and Andrew Luck)
* went with Greg Olsen in R5 who ended up the #1 TE this year for total points after everyone else got injured
* found good early season value in R10 pick DeAngelo Williams before Bell got back on the field

Some of my free agents grabs have worked out pretty well also, including Kyle Rudolph (who I barely ever used, but keeping the 6th best TE over the season off other teams has been pretty nice) and Davante Adams who has been one of the highest scoring WRs since I grabbed him... and now just imagine if he could CATCH sure-thing touchdown passes.

Basically anytime you can reach the Super Bowl despite your 2nd Round pick (Keenan Allen) dying on like, the 5th play of the season, you've got to feel pretty good about your other choices!

wiff's season on the other hand has been relatively drama-free.  After stumbling against the Score Squad to fall to 4-2 he's been untouchable ever since, reeling off 8 straight wins and leaving no doubt as to who was the league's most dominant team in the regular season.

wiff's smooth moves:
- looked past the early suspension to nail Bell, the game's second best RB (per start) in Round Two
- wisely waited until R5 to take his QB and went with Brees who as it turns out it still as good as it gets in Fantasy
- saw great value in LeGarrette Blount still being on the board in R10 before he went on to become a goal line demon for the Pats this season
- couldn't believe his eyes when we allowed him to dumpster dive Jimmy Graham in R13

Now, you could say he was a little fortunate to be one of only a few teams to not lose a top pick to injury this year but I don't think that would be fair.  His 4th round choice Jamaal Charles barely saw the field, his 9th round pick Josh Gordon didn't make it into a game whatsoever, and his first choice DeAndre Hopkins wasn't even able to crack the top 40 at WR due to a different kind of unnatural disaster (namely the quarterback situation in Houston).  Putting up the best overall season despite all those setbacks is a major testament to the strength of the rest of his draft.

Good luck the next three days wiff, and may the best team win!

https://bryou.se/ffs/2016.934037/

Neo had an absurdly strong schedule, .667 winning percentage for his opponents (next closest was Spike at only .581) while Qwec had it easiest at .385.  Ng was third easiest and wiff 4th easiest.  Keep in mind though that the teams with the most wins are naturally going to play teams with more losses so this isn't too unusual.

wiff got the luckiest with his schedule overall.  Though he had the strongest team based on all matchups (75-42, ties with Ng) he was very fortunate to finish 11-2, winning almost a full 3 games more than he "should" have.  Qwec and the Score Squad weren't far behind however, at 2.5 and 2 more wins than expected.

The other side of the spectrum belonged to Clark who ended with a decentish 49-68 record against all teams, which was actually better than three other squads this year, and was extremely unfortunate to finish with the league's worst record (should have won 2.5 games more).  The biggest story of the year though was Third's team; a 6-7 final record was only 1 game more than he "deserved" to win but its unbelievable that he made the playoffs despite a 43-74 overall record as that's actually 3 fewer wins than any other team in the league!

Closest game of the year was Shep sneaking past Third by 0.68 points in W12, biggest wins were Ng by 56 over Spike in W12 and Clark by 52 over Third in W2.

Schedule oddities: wiff's 11-2 team would have only managed a 6-7 finish if forced to play Neo's schedule, and Ng's 10-3 would have been an identical 6-7 if forced to play Shep's schedule.  Meanwhile Third only makes the playoffs with his own schedule, Ng's, or Nate's- any other assignments and he'd have been out of luck and some would have been downright brutal, such as a 3-10 if he'd played Neo's assigned teams.

If I made it, ng ended up 3 seed, I trounce him by 40 or 50 again.  I admit I was disappointed that didn't happen.  (I would not have played carr that week if it mattered)

anyway, gl wiff, the best team all year should win the title.

god damnit would've put up 140, and congrats ngamer,  KC is the toughest pass D team in the league (everybody sucks vs them) so wiff's not gonna come back.

It was a terrific matchup in the SB. Glad to make appearances every 10 years haha. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, but I goofed and didn't set my lineup for the TNF game in time for the championship, and would have put in in Sproles (honest I would have!) over Matthews. Woulda coulda shoulda, but just glad to have made it again. Great game, NG!
