Everdrive 64 question

Is a everdrive 64 allowed to be used for submitting times as i dont really have the money for a ntsc console or cartridge but i have a everdrive. Technically its still n64 hardware but im wondering if its allowed

Everdrive is not allowed. We can only accept runs made on an NTSC-U, NTSC-J, or PAL cartridge.

The reason for this is because Everdrive can be altered with different code to affect certain factors in the game, so we've banned it altogether.

You can probably even alter an NTSC rom and reload it back into an official cartridge. No everdrive but still not allowed and undetectable to us.

This will be possible eventually, using a SHT (smart hacking trick) on the N64. Unfortunately it is impractical for GoldenEye speedrunning, which is why I've recommended alternatives in my latest thread in the GE forum.

I made a thread regarding Everdrives and it was promptly moved to the trash can, so it's pretty clear what the proof moderator's stance is on it!

Maybe the best way to deal with something illegal is to make it legal. We Dutchies do it all the time! Prostitution, soft drugs, you name it.

There is no way you'll ever be able to tell if someone messed with the cartridge, so allow Everdrive, let everyone have the best odds at everything and *poof* whole problem gone, integrity of the rankings restored!

I feel this warrants a serious response. I am not a fan of my own quality, and I am pretty ashamed of the videos I have produced in the past two years, which is one main reason I'm not as proud of watching my own runs as I should be. The Dam Secret Agent 1:16 journey could have been one of the greatest set of streams in the Elite, but I was stubborn and ruined what could have been a great moment in Elite history. I could have made top-quality streams but I wasted that opportunity. Part of the reason I never bothered to purchase a new capture card is because during university, I always thought I would "retire" from speedrunning and spend my semester breaks doing more productive activities, and so I thought it would be a waste buying a capture card. After over 2 years that is clearly not the case given my attachment to this community (for perfectly valid reasons as well), and even though I've almost reached a saturation point with my timespage, I felt it was about time I purchased one. Especially since Goose paid out that hefty bounty, which is generous considering how much of a dick I was towards him and how terrible the quality was.

I am aware of the damage I have caused to the reankings with these videos and I would like to apologize for my despicable behaviour a few months ago. The above joke posts I made do not reflect my honest opinion and I hope this post makes that clear. P.S I think you are one of the coolest dudes in the Elite.
