Small correction: I actually did not discover the Train strat by looking at old Agent videos. The fact that it could be seen there was something I only realized afterwards.

I was actually intentionally trying to find ways to get out of the Train early (because I knew it'd save a ton of time) and after trying various random things I decided to try and do the locks fast (first time I probably took out alot of them before killing Ouro) and it worked.

Also not sure if TAS should be mentioned in relation to 60FPS modded emulators. That's cheating even for TAS standards

Watching the Aztec episode, I noticed that Wouter's Agent 1:40 was overlooked. I'm guessing this is because it doesn't have a date on the rankings (https://rankings.the-elite.net/~Wouter+Jansen/time/18724), but I clearly remember this being the untied record around the time I joined.

Really loving these lore videos. I've watched them all up to the first Aztec one. Frickin' takes me back since I remember having videos of Tim Greneby and Wes McKinney and of course Wouter on my hard drive and Getfile back in the day, and these lore videos are like strolling down memory lane. So cool seeing how a level has evolved over 20 years.

Thinking Cradle might be a good stage for lore (albeit a bit shorter) since there have been so many ways to kill Trev over the years and it literally took like 19 years for the WR to finally get down to the same 0:34 on every difficulty.

The story is pretty easy to tell and tells itself largely.  The only things that I need cleared up are:

Randy's discovery of R-Leans in May 2015... seems that was the double R-Lean?  Was the single R-Lean known about before this?  If so, why did no one try it on Runway until AFTER Randy's Surface R-Lean discoveries?

I think that's quite literally the only question I still have, but if Grav or Randy or Icy or Henrik or anyone see this in the next 8 hours and want to add in anything pertinent, feel free!

I think the best thing about these Speedlore Episodes is how generous they are (like Mario Odyssey) - they hold no information back, everyone who deserves gets a mention, and they are paced accordingly to the amount of content, not quickly rushed over in 30 minutes or something

-Cotton_W is the user who discovered that you can kill the running guard and get an early spawn, performed on emulator. You might remember the night since he was talking about it a ton in your stream. Later on, I did a bunch of testing to confirm it works on console, that you can get 2x GLs at the same time, can get the early spawn, etc. I wrote about it here if you want more details.

-About 8 months later, Randy decided to look deeper into the ideas and developed the strategy as it is today with the lookup/down trick, and to create a working setup to have 2 spawn guards. Thread here.

-Jezz got Streets 1:12 as a WR on G-Day, and was the third to get a WR on that particular date (following Qweczol's 47 and Green's 34). It could make for a good new-strat WR video to show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3blHPrGGHhg

Bitchin, streets! Here's some info from the 111/110 era:

- After Cotton let loose the strat in Gooses' chat (and Icy did some investigation) he returned 8 months later in ND's chat where Randy (and myself to a less extent ) was willing to look into it again. So thanks to cotton's persistence in sharing, 111 was born
- Iirc, Randy did majority work on strat as I was still a streets baby - I contributed minor stuff (might've calculated the decimals the guard would spawn, bad memory) as I was free to grind and helped with theorising strats that went nowhere (killing the red guard in right strafe, moving into wall near the 37 lookup spot to get gl guard in better spot etc)
- Austin, Illu, Myself and Jezz were the original grindmonkeys going for 111 until Karl bounceboosted to glory.
- We all used PAL for the longest time as it's trivial to survive all 12 selfboosts + get some extra kf7 hits. Jap was used first but we all got hiveminded into PAL :P
- If you get a long death animation on the first GL guard, you'll get the far 2nd GL

Bonus info:

From personal experience, shooting at the start can be optimised by shooting earlier and having the last bullet not attract too many guards - you really only want to pull the grenade guard who will run out and boost you for lowest lag
-a) This boost is MUCH more consistent on cinema I found.

I meant to post a while back but am just now getting around to it - just wanted to say thanks for doing these.  As a semi-historian of this community as well as someone that was around in the very early days I was impressed with how comprehensive these videos are.  Clark actually recommended them to me and we watched the first Aztec video together and sort of relived that whole period of time.  We didn't even remember making some of those posts.  Great stuff, I'm still pretty far behind on watching these but I intend to go through all of them eventually.
