Despite spending most of our lives "wasting" our time grinding old videos games, the Elite is probably the least degenerate speedrunning community and most of us are financially stable and well-off. But which of us is the most financially competent? Ace breaks it down in this comprehensive list.
5. Daniel Coelho (Wodahs)One of the smartest Eliters, Daniel graduated from UC Davis with a degree in physics and now works at Google as a Q/A analyst. Although he obviously cannot disclose how much he earns, saying you work at a company like Google is another way of saying you make at least $100k/annually, which is incredible for a fellow like Dan who is only 24. What is truly amazing is how he took a gap year to grind video games like GoldenEye and Ocarina of Time, but later got his priorities straight and easily managed to find a healthy job at Google despite having no prior job experience. While streaming in his spare time, Daniel doesn't just like to play games and give commentary - he encourages asking physics questions in his chat!
4. Eddie LovinsAlthough he's inactive these days due to a busy family and working life, Eddie Lovins does interact with Jimbo and the Ohio Crew from time to time. He's famously known for untying Frigate Agent 0:25, and in general just being a very social Eliter, having attended several meets including around 6 trips to VA. Eddie graduated with a degree in Mathematics and is now an actuary and trust analyst at a bank in Michigan. Together he and his wife, who I believe is a Nurse, probably make at least $200k annually.
3. Ryan Dwyer (Your Eliteness)Ryan Dwyer, more commonly known as Your Eliteness, was a former PD champ from late 2003 - mid 2005 known for his irreplaceable PD knowledge and placing hardcore rock songs in most of his videos. He dropped out of college to pursue his IT passions and started designing websites at the age of 16. A few years later he purchased a brand new Honda Civic and his own apartment. He now makes over $200k yearly as a Senior Software Engineer at a reknown Innovation & Technology firm in Brisbane, and
according to rumors he may be making at least $150 every hour.
2. Phil McCanna (octoinky)Phil has been a Systems Analyst and Risk Operations Engineer at Facebook for the past two years and reportedly makes $800k annually (
source) while reaping regular health benefits. Many of the new Eliters probably won't recognize this guy since he was mainly active only in the early days, but he was an active chatter, Perfect Dark player and at one time a proof moderator for GoldenEye. He's married with two kids and lives in a healthy mansion in Texas after spending 28 years in California.
1. Luke SzklarzLuke graduated from RMIT in 2011 with a degree in Architecture, a very interesting, diverse and unique field. He's been an extremely active and sociable Eliter since he joined in late 2005, having only taken one break from 2009 - 2012 to focus on his studies. Although he claims he works at Fieldworks Market Research creating building models and designing with Inventor (?) CAD software, there are rumors he owns a multi-million dollar company. He has recently sent snaps on the roof of what appears to be a mansion in Beverly Hills along with a luxury swimming pool, and is currently sightseeing LA in a Ferrari with his sister.
Honorable Mentions;Tyler Deel: Tyler Deel graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore with 2 degrees - one in Mathematics and the other in Computer Science. Although his job appears to be simply teaching introductory IT courses, he recently sent a snap of his garbage with 3 BMWs. I couldn't take a clear screenshot in time, but take my word for it.
