Compiling my "superpad thoughts" (since this is a recurring theme):
- The 3rd party stick advantage is hitting full-range easily and not wearing off, which is good for strafing on 2.2 / 2.4
- Original N64 controllers' sticks have a very low useful life expectancy, therefore a convenience argument can be applied. 2.x control styles advantages just can't be ignored if the goal is going fast in this game, and 3rd parties sticks are the only way to do it. Cycling through 9/10's for the strafing controller would be a nightmare.
Addressing other modifications other than specifically 3rd party sticks or a physical one like rubberbands:
- Auto-input tools such as turbo, macros, bots, should be straight up BANNED.
- Having a tool that "converts" the 2nd controller's analog inputs into buttons is debatable. Since this has never been done before (fact check?), let's open up the discussion when it becomes a thing.
Other thoughts:
- Have a 1.x side-competition would be a good idea, but it would be too much website work and people would just use the normal rankings like always
- Since the option above is a bust, maybe denote the usage of 2.x on the rankings? That could even get extra "merit" to some WRs. For example, imagine looking at Ryan Lockwood's Runway 22 on the rankings and seeing a pure 1.2 sign of glory, then scrolling down and encountering "João Andrade" who shamefully sold out to the cookie cutter easy ways. Pretty cool heh.
You may now proceed with your actions, AceCorp (unless you decide to make a plebiscite to remove me from all The-Elite medias then don't do that).
