*** Healthy New Proposal - Elite Council Elections ***
« on: March 06, 2017, 09:23:43 am »
After a spirited Discord discussion last night, I realize many people may still be heated over my previous proposal.  However, one encouraging thing I saw was that almost everyone was fine with the concept of Elite Council Elections, so here is my proposal for Elite Elections, submitted for community wide-review:

Every three months, one spot on the Elite Council will be up for election. For the first run-through, The Council Member whose spot will be up for election shall be determined by last name alphabetical order, moving down the list every three months. Once every original Elite Council Member’s spot has been up for election, the Eliter’s council seat that was voted on longest ago will be up for election at every three month interval.

There shall be two rounds to this voting, a first round where community members will vote for one Eliter out of all of the declared candidates, and a second where the top two vote-getters from round one are the only options. Each round of voting shall not take more than a week. The winner of round two will retain the Council position until his or her time for re-election comes, unless they are removed for other reasons beforehand.  A sudden vacancy may be filled by The Elite Council, but an election for that spot must be held within 1 month, and this special election will not affect the timing of any other election that is scheduled to take place.  Only a community member who has PR’d in either normal mode or D/LTK in the past year shall be eligible to run for council elections. This criteria may be changed if need be.

The voting system shall be fleshed out more by the Elite Council, Forum Moderators, and the community itself.  Of upmost importance, though, is the concept of privacy.  Ideally, this system will be completely anonymous with no paper trail of who voted for whom.  If someone must view the votes, though, that person will be removed from any administrative, moderator, or Elite Council position they hold if they ever reveal the anonymous votes of other community members.
