So it's been getting around that I was in the most recent episode of "
Nirvanna The Band The Show," a Canadian mockumentary comedy TV series. The general idea of the show is that two friends, Jay & Matt, are in a band called
Nirvanna. Neither knows that a band called Nirvana ever existed, and their life goal is to perform at The Rivoli, a notorious Toronto bar, so they get up to a lot of crazy hijinks in hopes of making it happen. The show airs on two major networks; cable channel VICELAND in both Canada & USA, and City, a large Canadian broadcast (terrestrial) channel.
The producer reached out to me around September or October last year and just told me they wanted to do an episode about speedrunning, centred around Goldeneye. I was inactive from Twitch at the time, so it was lucky I even saw the attempted contacts, but it seemed like a really cool and legit opportunity so we went ahead and did it.
I made a post sometime last year about a "local Goldeneye race" in hopes to recruit some racers from the elite, but no one was interested. Anyways, that race did end up taking place, and became the central plot point of this episode.
Obviously a lot took place in between, but the episode ending up airing Friday night on VICELAND here, and Sunday night on City. I went and watched the original airing with the guys from the show which was pretty funny and cool to see how it all came together.
With a Canadian IP and TV login, you can watch the episode here:

Everyone who has seen it so far seems to think it was a pretty funny episode and appreciated the style of the program. The guys who make the show are really awesome dudes, with similar interests to a lot of guys here, so I think you will all like it! According to Wikipedia the show gets a few tens of thousands of viewers, so it's really cool to both be a part of something that shows speedrunning to a wider audience who might not know about it, and also help create some amazing Canadian TV content.
Enjoy and hope you have a laugh or share some memery!
