Last night in Karl's chat, in the hours leading up to his historic Archives Agent 0:15, a heavy topic of discussion was the current state of the WR topic on the elite forum. The WR topic is considered as close to a religious temple or house of worship as we have here on the elite. You only get to enter and offer your record to the altar of the Goldeneye Gods when you have earned the right to do so. To give some historic context, the WR topic began as a way to organize the WRs in an easily viewable format for the proof moderators, when WRs were very common and the boards were messy. The moderators could run through and see which times were most worthy of proof calling or investigation.
With the advent of YE's updated rankings in 2005, this wasn't
as necessary anymore, but was still a great place to show your new WR for the rest of the community to behold. Who can forget legendary WR posts such as (feel free to suggest some legendary posts from 2004-2012 I can link here)?

With the advent of Twitch, we were finally able to see WRs in real time. An immediate declaration of a new record. And with the advent of Discord, and bots that automatically enter chatlines when a new record is posted, our connection to WRs has been more direct than ever before. But it hasn't come without cost. The technological advancements and immediate gratification come with their pitfalls. Discord flows like a river. With a forum post, comes strength and permanence, like marble pillars standing tall, pointing to the heavens of GE WR glory.
For some reason, many of the newer players have forgotten the true meaning of the WR topic. I can understand why newer members do not feel the need to post their WRs in the WR topic... they feel that they are already automatically shared to Discord and the rankings... but what of a person who wants to reflect on the moment a WR was achieved without having been there? Many players, such as the blantant recent example of Tyler Deel's Frigate Agent 0:23, refuse or forget to post their quality World Records in the WR topic. They are giving up on the elite's long and historic culture, which is what makes it a truly wonderful, respected community. Just like Canadians and Swedes and Germans around the world are forgetting their culture and history, paving the way for destruction of once great societies, I fear that if we, the-elite, forget where we came from, forget our history, and deny our culture, we too will see the destruction of our great community.

This needs to come to an end. And a majority of council members have determined the following course of action will be taken, starting effective January 1, 2018 (with some testing over the next two weeks):
Whenever a player achieves an initialed WR (fewer than 50 ties) they must post it in the WR topic. If they fail to do so, starting 48 hours after their achievement, any other WR holder or approved poster can post the WR in the WR topic on their behalf. For example, in roughly 24 hours from this post, me or another person can post Tyler Deel's Frigate Agent 0:23 in the WR topic on behalf of Deel. In this situation, the person posting on behalf of the WR achiever (and culture denier) can post literally whatever they want in the WR topic so long as it follows the rules of the-elite community and Simple Machines forum standards. Whether it be an embarrassing .gif, video, image, text, not posting your WR in the WR topic allows someone else the chance to post on your behalf. The only rule further to this is that,
in the WR post, the poster must refer to the record in name, and the WR achiever in name, somewhere in text or image in the post. ie: if I were to post on behalf of Tyler Deel's Frigate Agent 0:23, I must somewhere in the post, in text or image, write "Frigate Agent 0:23" and "achieved by" or "posting on behalf of Tyler Deel."
Posting on the behalf of others has been done in the past, so this is with precedent. This should be a good way to motivate people to post their own WRs in the WR topic, without penalizing them in areas like the forum, rankings, or Discord.
Post your WR, lest be shamed by your fellow members of the community! We will restore the WR topic to its historic glory!
